I'm not reading TOO much into it but collective opinion from the folks I trust that watched practice today -- 6 more talented than 14, 12.

JK Scott helping with kickoffs.

Any chance we can sneak Piniero on the field?

It's just a practice, but Coker and Morris have looked uncomfortable, a lot of checkdowns. Barnett has looked the most consistent to me today.

Most promising QB today has been Barnett. Just made a nice throw on the run. Doesn't look hurried at all. Good feel for the game.

Jarran Reed has some quickness coming down the line while pursuing the runner. Big fella can move.

The first scrimmage should hopefully shed some light on the QB situation.

This defense though...it's been said enough, but this defense is going to be something special.

There are about 10 guys repping kick return. ArDarius Stewart and Kenyan Drake are the first two up. Derrick Henry among others in the mix.

Coker makes 3-4 perfect throws, then throws 2-3 uncatchable. Starting to buy Kiffin's remark that the QB competition is wide open

The idea of Blake Barnett starting both excites and terrifies me. What do I do with my hands?

Seeing Henry run full speed at you from that distance must be scary.

I'm in the same boat.

On one hand he's a great talent and if he gets it early, the offense could go showtime.

But on the other hand he's one big hit away from being broken in half and he's just a Freshman so the likelihood of him being prepared for the type of schedule we face is slim to none.

Only black (non contact) jerseys we see are on QBs, RB Bo Scarbrough, and WR Chris Black. Cam Robinson in white.

I really wanted Barnett to redshirt this year, but if he is doing this well, then give him a shot.

His stature scares me more than his decision making skills. If anything, Kiffin can read the defense for him like he did for Sims.

True.

Looking at the roster we list him at an even 200 pounds. Could be an exaggeration. Looks 190ish.

His mobility helps and hurts him. He can avoid sacks, but running will probably get him hit. If he can learn to throw the ball away it'd help.

If he starts, it'll be very exciting to see unfold, IMO.

If he starts this year and stays until his senior year, I think we win at least two titles in that span. I think Kiffin can dumb down the reading of the defense and the plays enough until BB can handle more challenging calls.

I read this tweet about Charlie Strong, and his philosophy is that if a freshman is tied with an upper classmen in a position battle, the tie goes to the freshman. I wish we had the same philosophy.
