I'm starting to hope one of the QBs tears it up and the other four suck just so we can have a starter named.
But really, this defense is nasty. It'll be tough for anyone to grab those horns against it. If someone does...that tells us something about that guy.

We will have a top 2 after today even if they are not named for the world to see. My guess the coaches have a top 2 already. I doubt we get QB stats today or names today as the coaches will want to "review" film. But I doubt going into today's scrimmage that NS and Lane are clueless as to the true pecking order.

Not that this is necessarily what you meant, but I think "grabbing the horns" is more about commanding the offense than just beating our defense in scrimmages.
None of the QBs really strike me as the type who has a real machismo so to speak. Morris strikes me as laid back, Coker is introverted, Blake is just too new, Bateman seems like a nice enough kid, but he's just sort lost in the clutter and doesn't strike me as having the knack for taking control of the situation (actually wish we'd just move him to WR...depth there could be worrisome) and Cornwell may turn out to be a great leader but something is going on there, and too many rumors to know exactly what.
None of them really seem like someone who the team is responding to like it has to the QBs in the past. It's probably what got Sims the job last year...he had such respect and chemistry with his players that it made up for his short comings as a QB.

Right.
I agree, none of them seem to, right now, have that demanding personality that a team responds to. Which is why I think one of them will have to make a few "Man did you see what ____ did out there today?" plays to win the team.

Saban gave the green light for reporters to report what goes on at practice. They just can't report injuries.

Tony Brown now wears #7:

Alabama CB Tony Brown is now wearing No. 7.
Probably so he can play special teams if Derrick Henry is out there.

I hope that we make it through the scrimmage without any serious injuries.

Alabama entered Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday for its second fall scrimmage. The Crimson Tide players geared up for the scrimmage in full pads on a sunny, 90-degree afternoon in Tuscaloosa. It was the team's 16th day of fall practice.
Here are several tidbits ahead of Alabama's second fall scrimmage on Saturday afternoon:
- Just as the media was walking onto the field, the Crimson Tide appeared to be lining up in its first-team offense. Under center was Alec Morris with what appeared to be the first group, while Jacob Coker (toe) appeared to be with the second unit.
- When reporters stepped onto the grass, it was Coker leading the position group through individual drills.
- For most of the one media viewing period, the quarterbacks threw to the wide receivers. Coker led one line, with Morris behind him, while David Cornwell headed the other, followed by Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett.
- One receiver line was led by Robert Foster. Behind him was Calvin Ridley, Deionte Thompson and Derek Kief. Chris Black (ankle) led the other group, followed by ArDarius Stewart, Richard Mullaney, Cameron Sims (knee) and Daylon Charlot.
- Sophomore cornerback Tony Brown has changed from No. 2 to No. 7, presumably to be able to play on the same special teams units as junior running back Derrick Henry, who also wears No. 2.
- Alphonse Taylor appeared to be taking reps at right guard with the first-team offensive line. The rest of the unit -- Cameron Robinson, Ross Pierschbacher, Ryan Kelly and Dominick Jackson -- remained the same.
- The first two tight ends up with the first-team offense appeared to be O.J. Howard and Ty Flournoy-Smith.
- Reggie Ragland and Dillon Lee were the first two inside linebackers in the position group's individual drills.
*** What's next: Nick Saban will be up to speak to reporters in a press conference following the 1 p.m. CT scrimmage.

apparently the two upperclassmen are 1a and 1b and both should see snaps vs wiscky similar to last years opener. NS values experience with his QB who needs to manage the game.

Don't know if any or all of these are 100% accurate, but some tweets about the scrimmage:

So far Morris looks the most stable. Coker is being bailed out by great WR play. Cornwell..= no. @RyanCFowler
