I’ve been watching Bama football since the late 80’s-early 90’s. Seen a lot of good teams, some great teams, and a couple bad teams. But, with only a few exceptions, it seemed we always put a good defense on the field. It was our identity. It was who we were. And I know the game has changed. I’ve enjoyed watching Tua and Jalen the last several years and the video game scores and numbers as much as anyone else. But if Bama is to return to the absolute top we have to become a dominant defense again. If you look at the decline the last couple of years it’s because of the D. Blame it on scheme, a lot of freshman, revolving door of cooridinators or whatever.

As long as Saban as been here, the DB’s have been a strength. We could play man to man against anyone and our technique was better than anyone’s in the country. Now all of a sudden the corners seem to almost be a liability. The tackling has gotten worse. When that game got to 33-27 early in the 4th yesterday, we couldn’t get them off the field.

I just think we need that identity back. That tough nasty defense that you weren’t gonna run on. Man to man coverage that was in the recievers shirt and if they completed a pass they earned it. Sure tackling. Anyways just my two cents. Old man rant over.

We forget we had Deion Belue starting one season who shouldn't have been starting. What I did not like about the secondary was the blown coverages. That's on the coaches.

Deion Belue

Are Diggs or Carter any better?

Edit: forgot to add Mayden. Belue is better than him for sure.
