The fact that this question is even being asked is indicative of where Coach Oats has brought the program.

Bama fans of the 80s can talk about some solid years. Which coincided some lean Kentucky years.
But, truth be told , several of those 80s teams absolutely should have gone past the Sweet 16.

Some of CM Newton‘s teams did not go as far as they should have either. You may hear me complain every now and then about this program. But I am enjoying Bama basketball unlike I have in 30 years.

Just need to go ahead and lock up Oats for the foreseeable future. Believe his oldest daughter is in her last year of college at UA.

His youngest is still in Middle School, so hopefully he will stick around for a few more years.

Yes. Nate overachieved with this group. Good guards and wings, but Sherrell is our only good big man.

He has said he likely wouldn't take an NBA job because of that. Leaves it open that he could leave for another program though.

Byrne just needs to get him locked in. If he leaves for the NBA later - fine. I think we should be pissed if we allow him to leave for another school.

This squad is Philon and the other guys. Yeah Sweet 16 would be super.

I heard one of the play-by-play guys calling the TN vs. Miami (OH) game say that only four of the teams in the tournament this year have been to 3 consecutive Sweet 16 games - Gonzaga, U-Conn, TN and Bama. So to make it out of this weekend with a 2nd victory would be great! The consistency that Coach Oats has instilled in the mindset of his teams is special.

I see where TT is a 1.5 point favorite as of late Saturday - so getting another win would be sweet and create more national respect for Oats and the Tide. I look forward to a good game and hope the 3-ball is falling through the net often!

I think Sweet 16 makes this avery successful season. We whiffed on the transfers. Sherrell has developed a lot this year but still has room to grow.

Philon has finally settled in to being the quarterback and can take over a game when he needs to.
