Under Saban, we had three or four teams we could circle and get up for. Now... there are 8 or 9 teams that can beat you if your flat.
That's what makes this Missouri game so important.
They have the easiest schedule of any conference team so far. If we play high level, they won't be accustomed to it.
Big game!

College football and especially the SEC is a week to week league like the NFL. Super Bowl caliber teams can lose to a teams that won’t sniff the playoffs. Nobody has the depth like the top teams of the 2010s. Winning a game is just going to be harder now because you can’t wear teams down with depth.

The other thing is QB play. You really need one of the top ones. And he needs to be consistent.
Just looking a OSU... Great D ... great receivers... and Sayin is a few steps down at qb. Consistency.

That might have been true in the later Saban years, but it definitely wasn't at the start of Saban's tenure. In the 2000s and early 2010s, you had unbelievable depth in the conference, particularly the SEC West. During bowl season in those days the SEC was making opponents from other conferences look like FCS teams. Even teams that could barely get bowl eligibile in the SEC would go and annihilate marquee teams from other conferences in the bowl - see 2014 Arkansas as one of many examples. I think the conference briefly declined around 2017 and then picked back up around 2022.

Maybe so, but nowadays you can win a national championship with 2 losses.
