ESPN updated their rankings, any big movers for us? Not that ESPN’s rankings are very relevant, but still.

Has Rivals released their final rankings?

Battle Miami: Prospects that boosted their stock

quote:

Julian Sayin

The Alabama commit did not disappoint competing with Team Raw. Playing with a new set of receivers, there were some growth moments but, all in all, Sayin was whipping it around the field. The stroke is smooth and quick with great velocity. Being a five-star, there is no higher ground for Sayin, but he definitely did not hurt his stock on Day 1.

Rivals Rankings Week: Final five-star countdown for 2023 class

quote:

5. DE KEON KEELEY (Alabama)

Gorney's Take: The measurables on Keon Keeley are extraordinary but he’s not only impressive numbers on a piece of paper. At the All-American Bowl, the Alabama signee with long arms and tremendous athletic ability also showed off a ferocity that few others have in this class. Keeley keeps his balance, uses his frame to his advantage to bend off the edge and he has inside moves as well along with the fact that maybe no one in this class closes better on the ball carrier.

8. OL KADYN PROCTOR (Alabama)

Gorney's Take: There were some monstrous offensive linemen at the All-American Bowl but Kadyn Proctor was the biggest of all. Checking in at 6-foot-8 and 345 pounds, Proctor might be tapped out physically but that’s perfectly fine because now it’s time for Alabama to refine his skills, keep his physical nature and make him a first-round draft pick. I also loved the mentality – right or wrong – that by going to play for the Crimson Tide he can be challenged the most in a new setting. Eighth in the class might not be high enough for him.

9. S CALEB DOWNS (Alabama)

Gorney's Take: Caleb Downs is not this super long, rangy safety that we’ve fallen in love with over the years – some having panned out and some having not – but he’s just a baller, a playmaker that is always doing something positive for his team. The Alabama signee is not afraid to come up and hit. He can track plays sideline to sideline and he just has this unteachable knack to be around the ball and make something positive happen for the defense.

30. CB DESMOND RICKS (Alabama)

Gorney's Take: The Alabama signee remains a five-star because of his incredible physical tools and his competitiveness that we’ve seen over the years, even as Desmond Ricks reclassified from the 2024 to the 2023 class. With his speed and ability to cover plus play on an island, Ricks has the potential to be really special even though some elite receivers got the best of him at the Under Armour Game. As he develops under coach Nick Saban, Ricks has the length, the want-to and the ability to be special in Tuscaloosa.

31. DE YHONZAE PIERRE (Alabama)

Gorney's Take: Yhonzae Pierre’s reputation as a potential five-star really started in his junior season, then he dominated at Alabama’s summer camp, then he was outstanding as a senior and then finally turned in an incredible performance all week at the All-American Bowl. Not only is the Crimson Tide signee a high-level athlete and physical force but he’s so fast off the snap that he was winning some one-on-one reps by hardly being touched. He can get to the edge, he can spin, he can go inside and his productivity is simply off the charts.

Rivals Rankings Week: Meet the eight new five-stars

quote:

Yhonzae Pierre

"Yhonzae Pierre will make his NFL money on passing down situations in the SEC. As far as a pure speed rusher off the edge, Pierre is a heat-seeking missile targeting quarterbacks; that first step is amazing. SEC teams will not have the luxury of running the other way or scheming against Pierre the way Alabama high school squads did when he lined up for Eufaula.

"The new five-star closed his senior campaign with 64 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and 23 tackles for a loss. In San Antonio, Pierre was unstoppable in one-on-one reps against top offensive linemen. Coming to Texas ready to play helped Pierre earn that fifth Rivals’ star." - Wright

Keeley and Pierre in the same class is amazing. It really feels like this class has a dozen special guys. A lot of our good classes have a few, then some guys who could be, but man I really believe in at least half of these guys to be really good, if not All American level. Keeley is already an all around amazing EDGE, and does Pierre give anyone else Tim Williams vibes?

I’m surprised they have James Smith outside of the top 50.

Rivals Rankings Week: Which RB is best fit for his future team?

quote:

RICHARD YOUNG TO ALABAMA

"I love the way that Richard Young fits into Alabama‘s offensive identity. He’s kind of a throwback to what the big, tough Alabama offenses used to look like, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Tide try to bring some more toughness to the offensive side of the ball next season.

"He’s a strong downhill runner who can run over defenders but also run around them. I like the way that he’s able to pick up yards in chunks, and he seems well suited for the offensive personnel in Tuscaloosa." - Adam Friedman, national recruiting analyst

quote:

JUSTICE HAYNES TO ALABAMA

"When Alabama has been at the top of its game, the Crimson Tide have had a tailback in the backfield who could carry the team when needed. Brian Robinson, Najee Harris and Damien Harris are recent examples of 1,000-yard rushers who helped push the Crimson Tide to the top of the college football ranks.

"Justice Haynes fits that mold. Haynes is a tireless runner with great field vision and the burst to get to the second level once a crease is created. At the second level, Haynes has the speed to take it the distance. Alabama landed its ideal tailback in Haynes." – Ryan Wright, national recruiting analyst

Auburn filling his head with every tactic in the book I’m sure. We need to hang onto him. I think him and Williams will complement each other perfectly for a year or two
