Back up plan for Sopsher? Hope we don’t end up with a bunch of back up plans like last year. We started offering a bunch of random guys we never heard of late last cycle and it ended up being a sign of bad things. Hopefully this isn’t the start of a similar ending. We need to crush Kirby and close STRONG this year. No excuse, we have a young, talented recruiting staff. Time to close the deal on dudes like Sanders, Neal, Dean, etc.

While I totally get your point,the backups we got late are working out.Jaylen Moody and Eddie Smith played more than our highly recruited players. Another latecomer Ale Kaho played every game.Though we recruited him from the start.

Moody has played on special teams. It remains to be seen how well he will do at ILB in the years to come. Eddie Smith red shirted and played no significant minutes at all. Hatcher will never play a snap, I have my doubts about Slade and others. Not knocking those guys...and a good late find occasionally is fine (see Josh Jacobs.) But when you start filling your class out late with those type guys instead of the Sanders and Deans of the world...that’s a really bad sign.

Young players that even make it on special teams usually are good eventually. Always has been that way since Saban got here.

We started adding people in droves in the runup to signing day because we didn't lock down our class at ESD, that won't be the case this year and that gives the staff alot more leeway to pick and choose their late adds.

We'll probably sign all of our 22 commits in Dec except for maybe Keilan Robinson and Christian Williams. If Robinson doesnt sign, Glass or DJ Williams probably will. New Dec commits signees: Sanders, Neal, Dean, and maybe Webb, Thibs and a DB. We'll get Sopsher and maybe To'oto'o too in February. If we don't get Thibs, Webb and/or To'oto'o, we might fill spots with Bogle, Zipperer, Devonta Lee, or another DB. I'm pretty confident we'll finish very strong.

It might turn out that Bama lands a couple of DBs they may like more than him among Carter, Battle, Pola-Gates or Dax Hill. LSU might be showing Williams more love than Bama's staff is. I really can't get tell what's going on with him.

I like taking the in-state kids too, especially if Bama is their dream school and they buy into to working hard to become really good players.
