Four new five-stars join the 2019 Rivals100
Garfield posted the link to this article earlier, but I'm going to post the relevant stuff like he should have.

The latest Rivals100 for the 2019 class has been released with big changes up and down the list as well as five new five-star prospects. Here’s a breakdown of some of the big moves at the top as well as why the new five-stars were minted.
This is our second-to-last release for the 2019 cycle and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. remains No. 1 in the country. It wasn’t much of a debate actually as Stingley Jr. is so rare as a corner prospect. However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t being pushed by others. The LSU commitment is followed by running back Trey Sanders who moved up four spots to No. 2 in the country. Sanders has the rare combination of size and speed and is pushing to be the next running back to finish at No. 1 after Najee Harris did it in the 2017 cycle. Oklahoma wide receiver commitment Theo Wease and fellow wide receiver Jadon Haselwood remain in range as well at No. 3 and No. 4 respectively, while Georgia defensive end commitment Nolan Smith jumped five spots to No. 5 and is making a case of his own.
Offensive tackle Darnell Wright checks in at No. 6 followed by California athlete Bru McCoy and new five-star Andrew Booth (more below), a Clemson commitment. Auburn wide receiver pledge George Pickens checks in at No. 9 and defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux rounds out the top 10.
Other notable moves in the top 25 include offensive tackle Evan Neal moving up 18 spots to No. 11, South Carolina Gamecocks commitment Zacch Pickens moving up five spots to No. 15 and Oklahoma wide receiver commitment Trejan Bridges moving up eight spots to No. 17. Defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher fell 10 spots to No. 18 overall while LSU offensive line commitment Kardell Thomas fell 14 spots to No. 25 overall. New five-stars Nakobe Dean, Joseph Ngata (Clemson commitment) and Antonio Alfano (Alabama commitment) check in at No. 19, 21 and 22 overall respectively.
Former five-stars Quarvaris Crouch, Wayna Morris, Owen Pappoe and Chris Hinton dropped to four star status and we have more on them below. Our regional analysts break down the new five-stars and those that lost their fifth star….

NEW FIVE-STARS
quote:
NAKOBE DEAN
“Dean checks almost every box when dissecting an elite linebacker. The height and length are minor concerns, but those are the only real questions about his game and his projection. He is a very instinctive linebacker who can play in space, who can rush the passer and who fill the holes against the run. Dean is a linebacker who can stay on the field, and be effective all three downs against today’s college football offenses. Dean is looking at Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M and others.” -- Simmons

ANTONIO ALFANO
“Alfano has taken his game to the next level. The Alabama commit has an exceptional speed and strength combination for a defensive lineman and he has shown enough consistency over the last year for us to have grown more confident in his long-term potential. His performance at the All-American Bowl in January could tell us a lot about the accuracy of this ranking.” -- Adam Friedman, Rivals.com Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Analyst

Mind of Mike: Class of 2019 Rivals100 updated

The Mind of Mike is a scary place and with a new Rivals100 release it is overflowing with random thoughts.

... Cornerback and LSU commitment Derek Stingley Jr. remains No. 1 overall but that’s because no one jumped him this time around. Will he remain No. 1? That will be determined by the final evaluation for 2019 and the all-star games. As a corner who will likely be avoided, it could be tough to get a final evaluation on Stingley while the running back, wide receivers and defensive end vying for No. 1 will be tested. Running back Trey Sanders is currently the biggest threat but wide receivers Theo Wease (Oklahoma) and Jadon Haselwood are right there as well. Georgia defensive end commitment Nolan Smith is also in the mix and could push to No. 1 with a big performance. I’m inclined to think Stingley will hang on at No. 1 but it’s not a sure thing as it has been in past cycles.

... Here’s my breakdown of the new five stars…
CB Andrew Booth – He has the size you covet at cornerback and great instincts. It’s hard to imagine him busting out at all as he could be a great safety as well. Clemson is getting a good one.
LB Nakobe Dean – Dean may not be long but he’s a compact, physical tackling machine who can cover a lot of ground. He’s a quick twitch kid who plays very well downhill and is a thumper when he arrives at the football.
WR Joseph Ngata – You can’t have enough tall, athletic receivers with great body control and Ngata has all the attributes of a great wideout. He’s a red zone nightmare and has great downfield speed and good ability after the catch. He keeps the Wide Receiver U tradition at Clemson going.
DT Antonio Alfano – Alfano plays angry, has a non-stop motor and could be a big defensive end or defensive tackle at Alabama. His first step is elite and he uses his hands very well but it’s his temperament that I like the best.

Take Two: Who should be No. 1 LB in 2019 - Pappoe or Dean?
quote:
THE STORYLINE
One of the hotter debates during the latest round of rankings was whether Owen Pappoe should remain a five-star and the top linebacker nationally or whether Nakobe Dean had done enough to earn his fifth-star and surpass Pappoe as the top linebacker in the 2019 class.
The way it shook out was that Pappoe, who is committed to Auburn but is being heavily pursued by Tennessee where his high school teammate Wanya Morris has pledged, dropped his fifth star and moved to No. 41 in the country.
After an outstanding senior season, Dean, out of Horn Lake, Miss., moved up 13 spots to No. 19 overall and he earned his fifth star. As it stands heading into the all-star events, Dean is the lone five-star prospect at either inside or outside linebacker position. Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama and others are involved in his recruitment.
Was moving Pappoe down and Dean up to make him the top linebacker in the class the right call or has the Auburn commit proven enough to also be a five-star recruit and the top LB in this class?

TAKE ONE: CHAD SIMMONS, SOUTHEAST ANALYST
“If I am evaluating Dean and Pappoe strictly as linebackers, I give the edge to Dean. Pappoe is a freak athlete, and I would expect him to test better than Dean if we compared numbers and times, but as a linebacker, I like Dean a little more.
“Dean is always on the attack. He is a downhill linebacker who plays with speed and physicality, while staying under control. He reads his keys, he diagnoses things quickly and he gets to the ball in the hurry. He is a strong tackler, he can rush the quarterback and he can play sideline to sideline. I like how he takes on blocks and tackles through the opponent.
“Pappoe is the prospect I would say is better in coverage and a little better in space, but Dean can do those things well, too. Overall, each is an elite talent, and that is why schools coast to coast have pursued them, but I had to pick one over the other, Dean would be my pick.”

TAKE TWO: MIKE FARRELL, NATIONAL RECRUITING DIRECTOR
“You can make a good case for Pappoe being better than Dean, at least in the long run. He’s taller and longer and has a better frame to add weight and he’s more athletic overall. In a few years, we could be looking at one of the most athletic 245-pound linebackers in the country who can run sideline to sideline and is a quick-twitch kid. He probably won’t be as strong as Dean or as physical, but he should be able to cover more ground and be more effective as a blitzer. His upside is impressive.”

Saw his tweet as well. Wonder if the draft grade has declined that much, or he was pissed that he wasn’t a finalist. Either way, can we ban him from twitter and Instagram to focus on football?

Article on Noa Pola-Gates
Last week, Pola-Gates told azcentral sports that ASU has been "heavy on my mind ever since the new coaching staff came in."
He also said there are two checklists when it comes to his recruiting:
"Can my parents get to my games and what will I do outside of football," he said. "Coach (Steve) Campbell said when deciding on a college, picture yourself out of uniform and if you can see yourself at that school without football. If so, then that’s the school for you."
Think his parents would have problems getting to T-town?

Locksley leaves it's going to leave a huge dent in our DMV recruiting,we were literally taking it over recently. With Meyer quitting it would be a slam dunk. Can we get Azaar back? Please.
