Jaren handy is my nephew and I really think he will be a better fit at #bama what you think?

I feel like Jaren Handy can play anywhere. He is a talented, athletic defensive end with his best football ahead of him. He is still a raw talent with basketball being his sport for many years, but once he focuses on only football and spends time in the weight room while perfecting his craft, the sky is the limit.

Auburn will have to hold off schools like Alabama, Florida, LSU and others. He is all about upside and could be a force for many defenses on the next level.

When will Devonta Lee be shutting it down? Is he still a heavy #LSU lean? Tell em about Noah Cain?

I feel Devonta Lee is a heavy lean to LSU. I have felt that way for months, and now, with the way the Tigers are playing, that only helps. He is a top in-state target, he knows he is a priority for Ed Orgeron and that staff, and it is honestly hard for me seeing him leave the state right now.

He talks about Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss and numerous other programs, but the relationship he has with the staff in Baton Rouge, how close he is to multiple commits and just the chance to stay close to home really plays in LSU’s favor. I see LSU in the driver’s seat right now.

Will Taulia Tagovailoa end up a 5 star after throwing for almost 400 a game? What are his chances?

I am not sure about Taulia Tagovailoa ending up as a five-star, but he is a prospect that has impressed me this season. I love his arm strength, release, mobility, composure and there is a lot to like, but him being a five-star or not will be determined at a later date.

He is putting up big numbers and I saw him throw for over 200 yards in a half this season, so he is making his case to be one of the top quarterbacks this cycle. He does not have elite measurables, but there is a lot to like in this Alabama commit.

All of these prospects I saw in a game, practice or during the school day and a few of them were extremely impressive. Alabama commit Antonio Alfano is as dominant as they come and should have a ton of success as long as he stays focused and motivated. Missouri commit Charles Njoku should have Tigers fans excited because of his potential to provide an early impact.

Jason Blissett has the look of a prospect that will grow into a defensive tackle and he will become a Miami fan favorite if he can keep his quickness as he gets bigger. Rahmir Johnson will be a great fit in the Nebraska offense. The way he is being used this season doesn't showcase his talents too much but if he can get to the edge there is a pretty good chance he scores.

Kayvon Thibodeaux quotes:

quote:

“With Bama, it’s a great football program and I’m really close with the staff there too. Tosh Lupoi and Jeff Banks are my guys and I talk with them all the time, every week. You go there, you know you have a chance to compete for championships and they develop players so well.

“So the plan for me is to take all my visits and then I’m going to commit on December 15. I’m planning to have a little party for family and media to come out and that’s when I’ll make my decision. I plan to sign in the early signing period in December and I’m on track to graduate early as well so I’ll be at my school, wherever that is, in time for spring football.”

He is taking an OV to Florida on November 3rd.

Take Two: Can Alabama flip five-star George Pickens?

quote:

THE STORYLINE

Five-star receiver George Pickens was the first commitment in Auburn’s recruiting class as he picked the Tigers in July 2017.

But throughout his recruitment, the Hoover, Ala., star has made it no secret that he planned to take other visits and he’s still looking to hit the road for some trips.

Over the summer, Pickens said his recruitment will probably come down to Auburn and Florida State. Georgia is also a school poking around. Michigan has been involved and one school that could make a serious push leading to National Signing Day is Alabama.

College football’s Goliath has made the five-star receiver a top target and usually the Crimson Tide do not lose out on players they really want. Pickens is absolutely one of them.

Auburn’s offense has been deplorable this season. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham has only seven touchdowns and four picks. Leading receiver Ryan Davis has no touchdown catches yet. Florida State’s offense is not exactly killing it, either.

As for Alabama, the Crimson Tide average 53.5 points per game. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is the Heisman favorite. Leading receiver Jerry Jeudy has nine TDs. Henry Ruggs has six. Six players have two or more receiving touchdowns. And if Alabama is missing one thing it’s a huge, physical red-zone threat.

Can Alabama flip Pickens?

FIRST TAKE: ANDREW BONE, BAMAINSIDER.COM

“Alabama had several coaching changes after last season which probably led to a little bit of delay in offering Pickens. Alabama brought in a new wide receivers coach in Josh Gattis and promoted Mike Locksley to offensive coordinator. Locksley was the receivers coach, but the staff decided to wait and see what happened with Justyn Ross in 2018 and figure out who they were going to press for in 2019 with only about two receiver spots available.

“Pickens became a major target for Alabama after the spring evaluation period. He has taken a few visits to Tuscaloosa including the Texas A&M game this season. Pickens has been showing interest in other schools outside of Auburn and Alabama. He visited LSU a few weeks ago. He has also mentioned Georgia. Alabama has one receiver on board: John Metchie. The plan is to take one more receiver. Pickens is the top guy on Alabama's target board.”

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM

“He could end up at Alabama. They don’t have that big receiver, that’s the one thing they’re missing. Jerry Jeudy is an average-sized guy, Jaylen Waddle is an average-sized guy, Henry Ruggs is small so when you look at that offense you’re looking for that big, physical receiver especially a red-zone guy, sort of a Julio Jones-type, he would be your guy.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if he flipped especially with Auburn struggling. We know he’s going to take some visits. I don’t know where Pickens is going to end up but Alabama would not be a bad destination.”

Auburn WR commit George Pickens eschews early enrollment trend

quote:

Many of the nation's elite football prospects plan to graduate high school in December and immediately report to college football, giving them a chance to participate in bowl practice and spring drills in hopes of earning immediate playing time.

Auburn receiver commit George Pickens apparently won't be one of them.

George Pickens said this week that he doesn't plan to sign during the NCAA's early signing period in December. That will give the 6-foot-3 1/2, 200-pounder more time to take official visits after his 2018 high school season at Hoover concludes, perhaps even after the holiday break and his trip to the Under Armour All-American Game.

Pickens said he plans to remain at Hoover this spring and get the full senior-year experience, complete with prom and graduation.

"I want to experience as much of high school as I can, because those are some of the best moments (in life)," Pickens said.

A consensus 4-star prospect who is rated a 5-star player by Rivals, Pickens could be one of the nation's top unsigned players in January. How that might affect Auburn's ability to sign Pickens, who has been committed to Auburn since July 2017 but has consistently said he's willing to listen to other schools, remains unknown.

Pickens said he understands signing in February and reporting in May might hurt him in the short-term.

"It can slow me a down a lot," Pickens said. "A lot of other guys sign with schools early, (and) they're in the playbook, in the offense already and I'll still be in high school. It can hurt me, but it also can help me."

Auburn (4-3) has struggled offensively this season, currently tied for 74th nationally in scoring offense (28 ppg) and 93rd total offense (376.1 yards per game). That's led to speculation about coach Gus Malzahn's job security, especially with games against Texas A&M, Georgia and Alabama remaining.

Pickens conceded a coaching change might influence his decision to sign with Auburn. He also said he's talked to other Auburn commits about helping re-establish Auburn as one of the SEC's elite teams.

"It would affect it a little bit, but not a whole lot because I know what Auburn has to offer," he said. "I was one of their first commits (in class of 2019), so I know what they have to offer personality-wise and coaching-wise. That's why I've been committed for so long. So, overall, that's really why I'm committed to Auburn, because I know what personally they have."

He has made unofficial visits to Alabama, LSU and Auburn this fall, but said he hasn't made any decision on where he might take his five official visits. Pickens has 43 catches for 755 yards and nine touchdowns this season, accounting for 44 percent of Hoover's completions.

I think someone needs to explain to George the difference between WANTING to experience his entire Senior year of high school and NEEDING to.

It's amazing how fluid these things are. One day we're getting everybody, 2 days later we aren't getting anybody, a week later we're getting everybody again. But we usually end up getting almost everybody so I'll just enjoy the ride.
