Barton Simmons on SFS show just said he thinks Georgia is going to edge out Bama for the recruiting title this year... again.

Just as long as Bama is in the top 5 we Aight. UGA already has 1 1st place finish in recruiting to go along with that trophy from 1980....adding a 2nd #1 class will really be something.

A lot of instate talent, and the new hasn't worn off yet, but after another two years of being clearly the same old Georgia their momentum will slow down.

They aint getting by a Tua led team. No one is.

Georgia is not playing well this year. They are not as good as they were last year.

Whether Bama or Georgia get Webb and Dean will have an impact on that, but we could still finish #1 even if Georgia got both. I don't think Barton Simmons has a very good feel for where Bama stands with our top targets.

ETA: I like our chances with Sanders, Pickens, Webb, Wright, Neal, Sopsher, Dean, To'oto'o, Thibo, Dent, Pola-Gates and Devonta Lee. If we get 8 of those guys, we'll finish #1 and possibly with the all time record class score.

I think LSU can beat UGA. Auburn and Kentucky also have a puncher's chance of beating them. If UGA wins the east, we'll beat them in the SEC CG. Two or more losses would dull their shine considerably and keep them out of the CFP.

It UGA beats us in recruiting it will not be good, not because they beat us, but that will probably mean they beat us for Webb and Dean and that will be bad. We are going to have more 4 stars than them and if we get those 2 we will most likely have mire 5 stars. So we have to get Webb and Dean to beat them. Surge and Saint need to make that happen.

I just played with the class calculator.

UGA: + 6 top targets: Webb, Keegan, Hammond, Dean, Cine, Stevenson = 25 total; score = 317.91.

Bama: + 8 Sanders, Pickens, Wright (or Neal), Sopsher, To'oto'o, D Lee, Thibo, Pola-Gates; - 2 Metchie, Cheney = 27 total; score = 322.33.

Alfano will likely become a 5-star, so the above finish would give us 6 five-stars.

I know Webb is a different cat and there's nothing wrong with taking your time and enjoying the process, but man, it just feels like he's going to Athens. If he isn't into all this recruiting drama as has been implied about him several times, it would be easy to end it all and just commit to the Flagship. It's like he's looking for somewhere else to go besides Tuscaloosa.

I am with you and said the same. I would rather have Wright and/or Neal. I would take Webb but he would not be as high on my board as others have him. Then again stars mean little to me so what do I know.

IIRC isn't this how the recruitment of Mack Wilson went?

LINK ]Six Tide commits make Alabama All-Star team (BamaOnLine)

quote:

This year's edition of the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game will be Crimson Tide heavy as six UA pledges are on the roster that was released on Monday. Those commitments are:

Taulia Tagovailoa, 4-star QB, Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson -- Tagovailoa has put together an impressive senior season thus far, passing for 1,991 yards and 20 touchdowns to just two interceptions.

Pierce Quick, 5-star OT, Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) -- Coming off shoulder surgery in the offseason, Quick has proven why he's one of the top linemen in America helping the Huskies amass 2,988 total yards of offense in six games.

DJ Dale, 4-star DT, Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville -- Dale is cementing himself among the top defensive linemen in America as well as showing off his short-yardage rushing ability for the Cougars. The 6-foot-3, 323-pounder has helped Clay-Chalkville to a 5-1 record thus far in 2018.

Amari Kight, 4-star OT, Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson -- The 6-foot-6.6, 315-pounder has helped keep Tagovailoa upright this season and will work to continue to do so just a few weeks prior to both heading off to Tuscaloosa together.

Christian Williams, 4-star CB, Daphne (Ala.) -- Williams has starred for his Trojans team thus far in the season. Despite Daphne's record of 2-3, the 4-star corner has flashed on defense and special teams.

Will Reichard, 3-star K, Hoover (Ala.) -- Alabama fans will be happy to welcome Reichard to campus this January to help the struggling kicking game. Prior to the Buccaneers' bye-week, the nation's top kicker booted a 54-yarder in a win over Oak Mountain.

Along with the Tide pledges, two of Alabama's top remaining targets will also play in the annual contest.

Clay Webb, 5-star OC, Oxford (Ala.) -- Webb will likely be one of the most talked about players at the event considering he'll be just days away from announcing a long-awaited decision. Alabama and Georgia, along with Auburn and Clemson are working to land the state's top player.

George Pickens, 4-star WR, Hoover (Ala.) -- Pickens recently visited Tuscaloosa as many have put his Auburn commitment into question. The Top100 wideout will likely return for an official visit later this fall.

Only two quarterbacks made the roster (Auburn commit Bo Nix being the other) which left Tide pledge Paul Tyson off the team. That's not to say Tyson isn't putting together an impressive senior season campaign. The 4-star signal caller has passed for 1,714 yards and 18 touchdowns to just one interception.

This year's game will be played on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. CT from the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Ala just two days prior to the Early Signing Period. The Alabama squad will be coached by Hoover headman Josh Niblett. You can expect several Alabama targets and commits on the Mississippi roster when it is released. Is there any reason to believe Metchie is going to look elsewhere ? I know Cheney is expected to end up elsewhere, but haven't heard anything about Metchie.

Not really. Just speculation. Metchie says he's solid, but PSU is still pushing for him and he visited there this past weekend. WR is not a big priority in this class for us compared to other positions. If Bama lands Wandale Robinson and/or Pickens and enough other top targets, we may need to make room and Metchie might consider flipping to PSU. Bama's staff did go to his game Friday. We'll see.
