LINK ]Alabama 'rockin' steady' atop 4-star DB's list (BOL-VIP)

4-star CB/S Noa Pola-Gates 6-2/180 AZ hudl

Pola-Gates recently opted announce decision known on Jan. 19 at the Polynesian Bowl, and he wants to honor that commitment.

Everything he's doing and saying makes it appear that he wants to come to Bama if there's a spot in the class for him and that he's developing other options just in case.

Although Brandon Turnage talks and shows signs of being solidly committed, some quotes in a recent 247/OleMiss article indicate he might end up flipping later on.

Bottom line: I wouldn't be surprised if Pola-Gates ends up in Bama's class instead of Turnage.

There's not a simple answer to that question. From our Top Targets list:

Defensive Backs (4-5)
4* S LINK ]DeMarcco Hellams 6-1/203 MD hudl
5* S/CB Daxton Hill 6-1/187 OK hudl
4* CB LINK ]Christian Williams 6-1/185 AL hudl
4* DB/WR LINK ]Brandon Turnage 6-1/185 MS hudl
4* CB/S Noa Pola-Gates 6-2/180 AZ hudl
5* CB Akeem Dent 6-0/175 FL hudl FSU
4* S/NB Nick Cross 6-1/205 MD hudl
4* S Jalani Williams 6-2/170 MO hudl
4* CB Tyrique Stevenson 6-1/190 FL hudl

DeMarcco Hellams is a safety, but also has potential to bulk up into an ILB. Daxton Hill can play all DB positions. Bama likes Pola-Gates at CB as well as safety. Turnage is versatile too. Nick Cross (safety, maybe nickel, dime DB too) has also decided against committing today as planned. CBs for Cross (Hellams' teammate) favor FSU. I suspect Bama might be involved in his decision to hold off on committing.

Its weird that we have all heard that Turnage and Cheney are going to flip but even recently both have stated that they are 100% rolling with Bama.

I do know that 100% is a death sign for most recruits lately but, just sayin....

USCe mod Hale McGranahan has CBd Jaquaze Sorrells to Foggy (CBd him to USCe on 07/24).

UGA mod Kipp Adams has CBd Trey Sanders to Alabama today.

It looks like it. I don't know of any reason why Bama wouldn't.

Maybe. But since Sanders might announce without setting a date for it ahead of time, they might just be getting a pick in that seems very likely to be correct just to improve their scores.

It would be great if Sanders does go ahead and commit to Bama, to start some momentum for the 5-star guys that we're after.

5* 2020 OLB Sav’ell Smalls will cut his list to 9 in the middle of December or around Christmas.

Five-star 2020 OLB Sav'ell Smalls will narrow list after fall
quote:

While Smalls said no school has emerged yet as a leader, when he names his top nine in a few months, there are a few schools that are certain to be on it. "I think the ones I know for sure will be on it are Alabama, Florida State, Clemson and Washington," said Smalls. "There will be others and some I'm not remembering right now, but those schools for sure will be on it."
quote:

"I want to get down to the South just to see the atmosphere," said Smalls. "I've never been down there for game days and there are so many schools I want to go to, like Alabama, Florida State, Clemson and Florida. I know we'll go to at least one. I went to Stanford last year and that was kind of last-minute, so hopefully we'll plan one this year."

Would have loved to have him to continue the Hawaii shite but seems like the staff (who knows at least as much as me) isn’t pushing very hard (though I could be wrong).

Definitely will. I honestly like where we sit with him for several reasons, but he’s mentioned Bama in his group.

LINK ]Top 10 Uncommitted in 2019 from Northern California/Northwest (247Sports)
quote:

NO. 2: WDE LAIATU LATU, CARMICHAEL (CALIF.) JESUIT

Carmichael (Calif.) Jesuit weakside defensive end Laiatu Latu will take his second official visit this weekend when he heads down to Los Angeles to visit UCLA officially for their home opener.

Latu already visited USC officially and he'll also visit Oregon officially with his teammate Isaiah Rutherford on September 22nd when they host Stanford.

Cal, Stanford and Washington will battle for his last two visits.

Rugby is also something that Latu is considering strongly to play in college, in addition to football, and Cal has one of the best rugby teams in the country while a few other schools on his list have club rugby programs.

Note: I appears Bama is no longer in the mix for Laiatu Latu (Cameron Latu's cousin).

NO. 1: ILB HENRY TO'OTO'O, CONCORD (CALIF.) DE LA SALLE

Concord (Calif.) De La Salle inside linebacker Henry To'oto'o is the top uncommitted prospect in Northern California and a decision from him isn't expected until closer to National Signing Day.

De La Salle players typically won't take official visits during their season and they traditionally play in the state championship game, deep in December (in fact, they've been to 12 straight state championship bowls since they returned).

So To'oto'o will likely be busy in January before announcing in February. Alabama, California, Washington, Tennessee, Oregon, Notre Dame, Florida and USC make up his top eight and just about each have reason to think they can pull him in.

He'll start setting up his visits soon and it's anyone's guess who will get those trips.

Note: To'oto'o has said before that Bama will be one of his official visits.
