That's some stacked teams right there, damn.

I also think Ashford will be a tremendous QB when he graduates

LINK ]Commitment date up in the air for four-star safety Nick Cross (Noles247)

quote:

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic four-star safety Nick Cross tweeted Thursday afternoon that he would no longer be committing on Friday. He deleted that tweet about his change in plans soon after. Cross hasn’t shared an update since deleting the tweet. FSU is still his expected destination at this time.

Original story:

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha Catholic four-star safety Nick Cross has locked in a commitment date. He took to his Twitter late on Wednesday evening to unveil that he will make a public commitment at some point on Friday. He did not share a specific time or method for unveiling his final choice.

Cross is expected to choose from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Penn State. The final decision is believed to be between the Nittany Lions and the Seminoles.

FSU hosted Cross for his last visit before his decision. He officially visited Tallahassee during the weekend of June 22nd. Prior to making his way to Tallahassee, he made official visits to Alabama and Auburn in early June. He officially visited Florida in mid-April. He has previously taken an unofficial visit to Penn State.

FSU claims 95% of predictions currently on the 247Sports.com Crystal Ball. The lone prediction that isn't for the Seminoles, also isn't for a current finalist for Cross' services.

The 247Sports.com Composite Rankings consider Cross the No. 53 overall player in the 2019 class and No. 4 safety. He is considered the top prospect from Maryland in this class.

247Sports.com is even higher on the 6-foot-0.5, 207-pound defensive back. They consider him the No. 32 overall prospect and No. 2 safety in the nation.

Here is the evaluation of Cross by 247Sports.com analyst Brian Dohn: 'Cross has very good size and he plays a physical style more in the role of a strong safety, but he ha the speed and burst to cover to the sideline so he could fit the free safety role. His pre-snap reads suggest he does a lot of film work as he shifts just before the play begins. In the running game, Cross drives well toward the ball carrier, has good body control and can form tackle well. There are times he likes to lead with his shoulder and go for the big hit. He can stop and start well and is a good open field tackler. In the passing game, he often keeps his eyes in the backfield and sometimes drifts to the middle of the field, but his footwork is good and he can flip his hips to turn and run. He has the speed to cover down the field but he needs to work on his backpedal technique. He has a high ceiling.'

Cross participated in The Opening in early July and is also part of the 2019 All-American Bowl roster.

Noles247.com will have complete coverage of Cross' commitment on Friday.

FSU currently has the No. 12 ranked class in the nation according to the 247Sports.com Team Recruiting Rankings. FSU has 16 total commitments at this time. The addition of Cross, who would be the second-highest ranked pledge in the class, would move FSU up to No. 8 overall, if the standings remain the same as they are as of Wednesday evening.

I wonder if Bama is involved in getting him to delay his commitment.

Also I’m not sure if this has been posted but 4* 2020 WR Jermaine Burton who visited twice in June and was trending to Alabama was ruled ineligible at Marietta (GA) after spending last season at IMG Academy (FL).

He transferred to Calabasas High School in California and has been declared eligible. He had a 71 yard TD catch in a loss to JSerra yesterday. Calabasas has 2 other WR prospects in 4* Mycah Pittman (Oregon) and 2020 4* Johnny Wilson. Their QB is 2020 3* QB Jaden Casey (Fresno State)

Can’t take anything away from Nix as he’s very good and Hoover is just a much better team. But this is one hell of a performance by Ashford in his first varsity start.

18-27
323 yards
4 TD’s

We might need to find a way to get him and Beck.

This shows the gap between 7A and everyone else. Especially the upper tier of 7A.

Hoover has 2178 students in grades 10-12.
Pinson has 754.

Also, we need to get on the Robbie Ashford train.

Any thoughts on OLB next year outside of Smalls and Sherman? I see there is a Stephen Dix Jr. in Orlando at Dr. Phillips that might be related to Ha-Ha, Cameron Riley in state, Osman Savage at St.Frances Academy. Anybody read or heard anything about these guys or other OLB prospects concerning Bama?

Tennessee told Story they’ll let him choose what position he wants to play. He plays QB and DB at Lanett. Hopefully Saint can chime in later because I have very little knowledge about QB evals and whether Story would be capable of playing QB at the next level or not.

But after seeing Ashford today I really hope we offer soon. He told AU mod Keith Niebuhr yesterday that AU, MSU and UGA were recruiting him the hardest and he’s visited AU the most (3-4 times).

We’ve offered 9 OLB prospects in the 2020 class:

Alabama 2020 Offers

5* Sav’ell Smalls (WA)
5* Mekhail Sherman (DC) - Teammate of Keilan Robinson
4* Damian Sellers (AZ)
4* Jaylen Harrell (FL)
4* Zykeivous Walker (GA)
4* Kevin Swint (GA)
4* Quandarrius Robinson (AL) - AU Commit
4* Jesus Machado (FL)
3* Josh White (TX)

4* Cameron Riley (Hillcrest-Evegreen, AL) was a big riser in the recent 247 rankings update for 2020.

4* Stephen Dix Jr. (FL) is a distant cousin of Ha Ha Clinton Dix.

3* Osman Savage (MD) is also a teammate of Braswell, Lee and Dalcourt.

Check out the WDE prospects as well. Most of them end up being JACK/SAM prospects for us unless they outgrow it and move to DE.

We’ve offered 7 WDE prospects in the 2020 class:

5* Chris Braswell (MD) - Teammate of Shane Lee, Darrian Dalcourt and former teammate of Eyabi Anoma
4* Reggie Grimes (TN) - Legacy - Son of Reggie Grimes who played at UA in the late 90’s
4* Jason Harris (AZ) - 6’8” - Has high major offers in football and basketball
4* B.J. Ojulari (GA) - brother plays at UGA
4* Chantz Williams (FL)
4* James Sylvester (TX)
4* Prince Dorbah (TX)

I think Bama is a pretty heavy favorite to land Reggie Grimes, Chris Braswell and Jordan Davis and may lead right now for Smalls too.

TOP TARGETS - 2020 CLASS (23-26)
Bold names = Bama commits (7)

Linebackers
4* ILB LINK ]Jackson Bratton 6-3/215 AL hudl
5* LB Sav'ell Smalls 6-4/230 WA hudl
5* LB Justin Flowe 6-2/225 CA hudl
4* OLB Reggie Grimes 6-3.5/213 TN hudl
4* OLB Chris Braswell 6-3/211 MD hudl
4* OLB Jordan Davis 6-6/240 Juco/TN hudl
4* OLB Mekhail Sherman 6-3/234 DC hudl

Note: OLB Jordan Davis (non-qualifier) counted toward Alabama's 2018 signing limit and will not count again if he enrolls at Alabama after Juco.

T Rich and TidalSurge.
Looks like we will be in good shape if we land the 4 TS mentioned. Good info. It will be interesting to see how the other guys lower on the board develop this year.
