Imo, AmericusDawg shouldn't post discussion on our board that clearly belongs in that thread.

Sorry if this ruffles your feathers,TS,but you brought the subject here. His comment was not bothersome in any way.

He has never offered anything other than honest opinions and good information. I don't want this board to turn into something like that godawful Auburn circlejerk board.

I don't think any of us want that.

Americus nor any fans of other teams rustle me. I couldn't care less about their opinions. I have no problem at all with him posting in here if it makes sense; e.g., posting about recruits Bama and UGA are competing for. And he knows that.

Actually, I didn't bring the subject here. TideSaint initially posted about the SECrb thread where UGA posters were posting bs about UGA turning away a recruit they got beat by USC for. I replied to TS' post and naturally there were a few other posts in here talking about the UGA posters' bs, which was exposed for what it was -- bs.

Then Americus showed up in here a day later posting some similar bs, except that it was more cryptic than the bs other UGA fans had posted. I thought it was odd he posted that here instead of there. I guess he knew nobody but UGA fans in that thread would buy what he was selling.

I simply made the valid point that his post clearly belonged in that SECrb thread instead of here. And Americus' reply seems to indicate that he pretty much had to agree with me about that.

They lost out on DJ Daniel and Cameron Smith and acted as if they didn't want either. Lost the title game and they have arrived by gawd.

LINK ]After hitting re-set, stud 2020 WR Jarrett updates recruitment (247Sports-VIP)

4-star WR Rakim Jarrett 6-0/185 DC hudl

Jarrett had named Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State and Penn State as his top-4, and appeared to be an OSU lean, but shortly before the OSU mess broke, he decided to slow things down and also consider other schools, mentioning Florida and Tennessee.

“I thought it was kind of early. I re-opened my recruitment before the Ohio State stuff, and I’m kind of glad I did. I have to make sure the coach is there when I go into a school. And, it’s just really early. I haven’t visited some of the schools. I had a top four based on who I like.”

Jarret said he wants to visit Ohio State for its Nov. 24 game against Michigan, and he also wants to check out a game at Alabama. “It’s because of Alabama’s great resume they have with receivers. Coach Gattis is a really good receivers coach. I worked with him when I went down for a camp and it has a winning culture. I definitely want to be around that.”

Jarrett is teammates of Alabama commit Keilan Robinson and 2020 LB target Mekhail Sherman.

This guy looks like a hoss. Great prospect. Would love to land him. Fleming is another great one from the East coast.

LINK ]IMG Coach Kevin Wright on the transformation of 5-star Evan Neal (BOL | embedded video)

quote:

BRADENTON, FL -- At 6-foot-7, well north of 300 pounds, Evan Neal has never had a problem standing out. Even at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, often the most impressive collection of high school football talent on any given prep roster across America, the offensive lineman has drawn attention for years.

It began with the combination of his size and athleticism more than two years ago when he began his IMG career, but it has morphed into a reflection of his improved play as a tackle prospect of late. Neal is now a 247Sports Composite five-star prospect and nearing the end of not only a longstanding recruitment, but a physical transformation that has some of the top college football programs in the country gunning for his commitment.

IMG head coach Kevin Wright was there when Neal arrived at the program following a freshman campaign at Okeechobee (Fla.) High School.

"When Evan first came, I had a little bit of insight on him, I saw his tape as a freshman, and he was a big, strong kid," he said. "He had good feet, he was an impressive human being for a 15-year-old. He and the family came down and talked about what they wanted to do, not just from a football standpoint, but from an academic standpoint to prepare him.

"Evan, from Day One, has continued to progress and grow. When you come here as a 15-year-old in this type of regimented system, you've got to be up, go to meetings, lift weights, go to practice, school, study table. Learning to balance your time on the weekends was also a little bit of a challenge for him as it would be for any 15-year-old. Add the fact that he had already been getting recruited before he got to us, but it was on potential because he was that size and at that age."

The recruitment of Neal, who is linked to Miami, Alabama and Florida State among others as the 2018 season begins, has shifted from potential to clear promise after his junior campaign and head-turning offseason of performances since. That change wasn't just about getting down from near 400 pounds at one point.

"I think when the season was over last year, he took it upon himself to make sure he was eating right, hydrating, doing all the little things he's probably heard for two years from our nutritionists and coaches," Wright said. "You could see the transformation by the time we got to spring football, everybody who came out to watch him was like, 'okay, this guys looks good.'

"Watching him progress, the personal growth has kind of gone with the physical growth. We've seen him put it all together. You see him getting more serious about his future, he's gotten more serious about academics and focused on the end-game here."

Neal is now listed at 360 pounds and set to help IMG towards another potential undefeated campaign despite a national schedule. He has impacted the Ascender roster as a guard through most of his career to this point, but will have the chance to slide outside this fall.

"Every coaching point we've given him, he's embraced it," Wright said. "To even look at his body composition right now, compared to where he was a year ago, he's not the same kid. His lean muscle mass has increased, body fat has decreased and he's moving better than ever. He had a really good summer at The Opening (video above) and a couple other places.

"He's got an awesome opportunity. Finding an offensive lineman that can walk in and play as a true freshman is tough to do, but I think he can come in and do that."

In addition to excelling at his summer courses, now placing Neal on track to graduate in December and enroll at his school of choice in January, his versatility will help him get more reps at the position he's likely to play at the collegiate level.

"We run a lot of gap schemes, so the fact that we were pulling him as a guard means he's an athletic guy who can move out to tackle," Wright said of the last few seasons. "He asked me a few times last year, 'coach, I think I'm going to be a tackle.' I said, 'you probably are, I just need you at guard this year.' It's one of those situations based on personnel. We've had those guys, and he's been flexible enough to move him around, so he's always played tackle in practice.

"There's never been a question whether or not he could play tackle. I've always marveled at the fact that he can get on guys in space. Playing in a 4-yard box, with those arms and with that body and feet, there's no doubt he'll be okay at tackle. He can play both and he'll fit in most schemes." Wright added that Neal, as the case with most IMG Academy offensive linemen, has even taken considerable reps snapping the football, "just in case."

The 247Sports Composite tabs Neal as a five-star and the No. 25 overall prospect in the class of 2019. On 247Sports, he is No. 30 overall, top five among senior offensive tackle projections.

LINK ]Video: 5-star OT Evan Neal's senior season debut (BamaOnLine)

quote:

BRADENTON, FL -- 2018 has already been a big year for Evan Neal, well before kicking off the football season Friday night.

The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star offensive line prospect, who has trimmed his frame while rounding out his game at the school over the last three years, had a big spring with college coaches tracking him ahead of an even bigger summer at offseason events like The Opening Finals -- part of which helped him ascend to five-star status.

But on Friday night, all Neal wanted was to play some real football, full pads, against a legitimate opponent instead of the IMG teammates and individuals in other settings he has competed against over the last several months. Moments before he was going to be able to do that Friday against Lake City (Fla.) Columbia High School, in a preseason setting, the school's lightning alarm sounded and pushed back kickoff for about an hour.

During the delay, while 247Sports was among those awaiting the all-clear along with the teams and spectators, Neal was the only visible athlete for some time. He was in full-gear, skirting the edge of the field house well before players would be allowed to venture back onto the field. At one point, he opened the long arms on his 6-foot-7 frame and shouted, "I just want to play football!"

Though some dark clouds loomed, there wasn't a drop of rain throughout the delay. After it passed, Neal and both sides got their wish and he was able to lead the Ascenders into the game as a team captain. He was a calming force for the home team as the game leaned heavily towards Columbia High through the first quarter-plus, as they got out to a surprising 27-0 lead over one of the top prep teams in America. As things got chippy, the biggest man on the field deescalated the situation in between dominant reps as the left tackle for rotating quarterback prospects David Baldwin and Bryson Lucero, a UAB verbal commitment.

IMG Academy would run behind Neal on the comeback path with five-star running back Trey Sanders and four-star Noah Cain each finding the end zone. Cain (highlights/analysis) kicked it off with a short tote and would score a second time before the end of the half. A big run of his set up the final score, from Sanders (VIP story, highlights), on the only drive the starting unit was on the field early in the third quarter. The prearranged scrimmage format between both teams would reset the scoreboard once each team completed a drive in the third quarter. It was 33-20, Columbia High, at that time.

The 247Sports Composite tabs Neal as a five-star and the No. 25 overall prospect in the class of 2019. On 247Sports, he is No. 30 overall, top five among senior offensive tackle projections. The one-time Alabama commitment remains undeclared, with Miami leading the 247Sports Crystal Ball selections for his recruitment. The Crimson Tide and Florida State Seminoles are among those still under consideration.

Neal loves Bama. Gotta get mom on board with letting him choose what's best for his future.

Heck yeah. Greeny is usually so milktoast, it is cool to see him a little fired up, especially since he is backing Saban.

Marc (Paul's dad) was actually a student at Alabama when Coach Bryant died.

quote:

Marc Tyson tore his ACL in high school, which limited his athletic ability. He focused on his classes once he enrolled at Alabama, and majored in civil engineering. He was a student when Paul Bryant died on January 26, 1983.

"It was terrible," Marc said. "The funeral riding from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham, it was the first time I realized how many people cared about him. I just knew him as my grandfather."

Nick Cross was crystal balled to Penn State and Nakobe Dean was CB'd to FSU by a FSU mod. No bueno, but I don't think he is a trusted predictor.

I wonder if Kane Patterson comes back into play in the unlikely scenario that Urban gets the boot.
