So, guys, I'm sure you've discussed it plenty of times already, but Taulia Tagovailoa vs Paul Tyson... what is everyone thinking?

I’m tickled to have both, but honestly (with very little intel or sample size) I kind of think Carson Beck may be the (eventual) future after Tua.

>>> 4-star DT LINK ]Faatui Tuitele 6-4/299 HI hudl

LINK ]Saint Louis’ defense makes statement
(Hawaii Prep World)

Even with a young nucleus at the skill positions, the Narbonne Gauchos are explosively dangerous. Saint Louis answered with a well-prepared defensive game plan, limiting the visitors from Harbor City, Calif. to 157 yards of total offense in a 47-7 blowout victory on Friday night at Aloha Stadium.

The Crusaders sacked Narbonne’s quarterback, Jaylen Henderson five times, all in the first half. Henderson, who finished 10-for-23, 118 yards with three picks, was greeted in the backfield by Jordan Botelho, then Nick Herbig and Liloa Kapiko, then Herbig a second time, followed by Kila Kamakawiwo‘ole and defensive lineman Gino Quinones...

Narbonne’s offense scored its lone TD on a fake-field goal run. Narbonne has time to improve. They played 15 games in their championship campaign last season.

Senior Saint Louis defensive tackle Faatui Tuitele (6-4, 299) and his cohorts in the trenches lay the foundation down each week. He’s willing to bear the weight and free his teammates.

“We are always shooting for a shutout every game. We continue to aim to be the best defense in this state,” said Tuitele, who has 39 scholarship offers. “We have a lot of work to do, no doubt, but I am really proud of my front seven and secondary. We executed our assignments and did what we needed to do.”

In the middle of the mayhem, Tuitele absorbed the full frontal push of the Narbonne O-line. He has no desire to run free on the edges. He embraces his role.

“I wouldn’t trade being a D-lineman for anything in this world," Tuitele said. "Although we take on the blocks and free up our backs, that’s what it’s all about. Being a D-lineman in a 3-4 defense is about being unselfish. It makes making plays that much more awesome.”

“Their line is good this year, too. A lot of big and physical guys. We had to adjust to their calls in the first quarter, but we eventually caught on to their play-calling and schemes,” Tuitele added.

Next up for Saint Louis is a showdown with one of the state’s most productive offenses. “Now back to practice tomorrow morning to get ready for Mililani,” Tuitele said.

Uh.... "soon" may be back on.

Ika has looked better, but this kid gets it. Wish we could take all three (Sopsher, Ika and Tuitele).

LINK ]Focus On the Fall: Breaking down the state of California (247Sports)

2020 5-star RB Kendall Milton
quote:

The high school football season kicks off this week across the West region and there is plenty of recruiting intrigue with about four months to go until the early signing period in December.

As is always the case, it's a strong year for talent in the Golden State. There is a pair of SoCal players rated among the top five in the country and three in the top 15 according to 247Sports. In the 247Sports Composite, the nation's top recruit hails from the Golden State as well.

The battle for top overall player in the state looks like a two-horse race right now between Kayvon Thibodeaux and Bru McCoy. Thibodeaux is the No. 1 rated player in the 247Sports Composite while McCoy checks in at No. 17, although he's No. 4 according to 247Sports. Kyle Ford had a great off-season and earned a 5th star from 247Sports although he's only rated the No. 30 player in the country in the Composite.

In the 2020 class, Justin Flowe at No. 2, DJ Uiagalelei at No. 7 and Kendall Milton at No. 10 lead junior crop. Elias Ricks, No. 13, Johnny Wilson, No. 15 and Bryce Young at No. 21 are others from California who cracked the top 25 in the Composite ranking.

So who is the state's top uncommitted prospect? Whose stock could rise in the weeks to come? Who's the top recruit in the loaded 2020 class? Which game will have close to 50 total college prospects?

We take a closer look at those topics and more below:

Top 2020 defensive prospect: LB Justin Flowe

quote:

Upland (Calif.) Justin Flowe checks in as the No. 2 player in the country in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 1 linebacker as well. Since everyone loves comparisons, in terms of his size, toughness and maniacal effort he plays with, Ray Lewis is the guy who jumps to mind.

Flowe is non-stop energy and plays with the kind of edge that makes you a little leery about going anywhere near him if you're an offensive player. He's a natural run stuffer but is very comfortable playing in space and should develop in to an outstanding pass rusher as well.

USC looks like the local leader but the athlete took several trips all over the country including Alabama, Washington and Oregon and has schools like Oklahoma, Michigan, Clemson, Florida and Florida State all over him as well.

Top 2020 offensive prospect: QB DJ Uiagalelei

quote:

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco QB DJ Uiagalelei is the No. 1 offensive player in the state in the 2020 class and No. 7 overall in the 247Sports Composite.

You can make an argument that Uiagalelei is the top quarterback prospect in the country right now as a junior and has the kind of arm strength that comes along once a decade. He's more than just an arm, he's a big kid who can run and like Cam Newton as a fair comparison at the same stage in terms of size and playing style.

Clemson and Oregon look like the early leaders but the quarterback isn't even close to narrowing his list down at the moment.

Top uncommitted recruit: Kayvon Thibodeaux

quote:

Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian defensive lineman Kayvon Thibodeaux is not just the top uncommitted prospect out West but the top one in the entire country. He recently came out with a top five list led by Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Oregon and USC.

If we had to pick an early leader going in to the season, it would be the Noles. Thibodeaux has already visited FSU twice unofficially and set up his first official trip to Tallahassee for Labor Day weekend (Sept. 1).

Alabama is the school we think is right there with the Noles and Tide super recruiter Tosh Lupoi has made a big impression on the talented lineman. He will visit Florida and Oregon as well but if there's a dark horse here, it's probably USC.

It's funny to call USC a dark horse for a local player but they have yet to make a big push for Thibodeaux and still managed to make his top 5. If they have a big year on the field and turn up the heat on his recruitment, we could see the Trojans making this one interesting.

LINK ]Ohio State's 10 most wanted recruits for 2019 (247Sports/Bucknuts)

quote:

Ohio State has been going through some uncertain times in the last couple of weeks, as the university has put Urban Meyer on paid leave, while they invesitgate if he properly handled the situation regarding former assistant coach Zach Smith.

Despite all of that, recruiting hasn't stopped for the Buckeyes, who currently have the eighth ranked class nationally, and the top group in the Big Ten. OSU holds verbal pledges from 15 prospects, in a class that will likely number somewhere from 22-25 on National Signing Day.

While things are likely "on pause" at the moment in regards to adding new members to the class, that should change soon, and the Scarlet and Gray will be back at it, in chasing their top targets.

Today, Bucknuts looks at who those realistic top targets are, counting down Ohio State's 10 most wanted prospects in the recruiting class of 2019.

Faatui Tuitele

The original pick was USC from everyone for the No. 40 overall talent in the country from Honolulu (HI) St. Louis, but defensive tackle Faatui Tuitele didn't include the Trojans on his final five list. Instead, Washington, Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson made that cut.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball immediately shifted towards the Crimson Tide, but there is some speculation that Alabama may have a couple players at the position higher on their board, with space tight. Either way, the door seems open for any of the finalists to come in and grab the 6-foot-4, 300-pounder this fall, as his official visits will tell the tale.

Ohio State has always been positioned better here than people give them credit for, but how things go when he comes to Columbus will determine if they're just a hat on the table, or have a real shot at landing one of the country's top interior line prospects.

Jameson Williams

Ohio State definitely wants another wide receiver in this class, if not two, and Jameson Williams is at the top of their board. He's also the guy they have the best chance to reel in.

Of course, like any prospect, Williams is waiting on a resolution from the Meyer deal, but the Buckeyes are still the perceived leader for the St. Louis native, over Alabama, Oregon, and a few others.

Official visits seem to be on the docket, although he already used his to Columbus. Proximity to campus isn't too bad, though, and an unofficial trip could eventually lead to OSU sealing the deal on this one, but they're definitely in for a battle.

Darnell Wright

As we've mentioned a few times in this piece, offensive tackle is the greatest need for Ohio State in the 2019 cycle, and one of the best in the country at that position is Darnell Wright.

Early on things looked great for Wright to end up in Columbus, but as the process has played out, it appears they have an uphill battle. Alabama and Tennessee have jumped out to the front, while Georgia and North Carolina are also very much in play.

Official visits will happen and Ohio State is in a great spot to get one, but they're going to have to put in some serious work here to land one of the country's top linemen.

Just missed the cut -- Outside of these 10 players mentioned, there are a number of other prospects that are firmly on Ohio State's board and are very realistic possibilities to end up in the class. This list will continue to grow larger as well, as the process goes on.

Included on the "just missed" list are David Bell, Siaki Ika, Noah Cain, Julian Barnett, Brenton Strange, Wandale Robinson, Jared Harrison-Hunte, D'Von Ellies, Jonathan Allen, and Milton Wright.

Some know who bumped him that's all. We all wanted DJ. Would be like Bama acting like they didn't want Dean. DJ has tried for weeks to commit.

Imo, AmericusDawg shouldn't post discussion on our board that clearly belongs in that thread.
