LINK ]Malachi Moore: "Everything we were looking for was at Alabama"

quote:

Alabama already had Pierce Quick, Paul Tyson and Dazalin Worsham (2020) on their commitment lists, so Malachi Moore wanted to join his teammates.

Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville now has four prospects committed to the Crimson Tide and the latest is Moore, a four-star cornerback in the 2020 class.

Alabama offered Moore in June after he impressed at camp. He put a top six out early in August, but at that time, his mind was already made up.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

"I kind of knew Alabama was the school already, but the Monday after the cookout in July is when I made the decision," said Moore. "I chose Alabama over Auburn, LSU and Clemson.

"I got back from the cookout, talked with my parents and it just felt right. After talking it over with my parents, we knew everything we were looking for was at Alabama.

"I told Coach (Brent) Key and Coach (Karl) Scott on Monday July 30 about my decision, then I talked to coach Nick Saban about it Tuesday July 31. I really think they could tell a little that I knew it was Alabama in the back of my mind, but I don't think they expected it to happen this soon.

"The coaches told me how they love having me on board, how they can't wait for me to get there and things like that. They were excited.

"I have visited Alabama five times now and I love it there. I have camped there the last two summers, I have attended a game and I love the atmosphere. I have worked with the coaches, I have seen the fans, I have chilled on visits and I love it all.

"I really did not know I would commit this early. It just felt like the right time for me. I have mixed emotions right now, but I really feel like this is a dream come true. It really humbles me the most. I have to put in a lot of work to make this happen and to get to Alabama. I will now just keep working to get there.

"Me and a lot of my teammates now are going to Alabama. We all have the same goals and we feel it is the best fit for us. Alabama is a top contender each year and we all want to win."

RIVALS REACTION

Moore is a cornerback that impressed the 'Bama coaching staff at camp in June. He is still growing and is far from a finished product.

He is a corner with good size, good feet and a real understanding for his position. Moore is only going to get better and we all know what type of history Alabama has at developing players at his position.

This one was really over once Alabama offered. Moore does still plan to visit other schools and take a look at his options, but he seems set on staying in state and playing for the Crimson Tide.

Four-star LB Mohamoud Diabate Tweeted that he will be announcing a decision on Aug. 22. The Auburn (Ala.) product did not take a visit to Alabama this summer, however, told 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong the Tide is still one of his finalists. Last time we caught up with the 4-star linebacker, Diabate said he had not heard as much from the Tide staff in the month of July. His last visit was to Florida at the end of July. The Gators have picked up a couple of 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions on Monday evening.

Rivals Rankings Week: Who could land in updated 2019 top 10?

quote:

Today kicks off the latest update to the Rivals rankings, with the debut of the new Top 10 of the Rivals100 at noon ET. The Rivals.com analyst team spent the summer attending various events and evaluating the nation’s top prospects and the group of experts met last week to hash out which prospects belong where in the rankings. The analyst team had plenty of debates about who should go where and today we have three of them present their case for individual prospects to land inside the new top-10.

WR GEORGE PICKENS

Pickens has seen his stock rise over the past year, both among college coaches and on the rankings front. During the last update in June, he made a huge leap, jumping from outside the top-100 into the top-50. After he dominated elite competition during the summer, I feel like he belongs in the discussion for the overall top-10 and is in line for another big move up the charts.

Pickens has a rare combination of size and speed in addition to elite playmaking ability and a killer instinct. During the IMG 7-on-7 National Championships, Pickens paired with fellow Auburn commit, quarterback Bo Nix, to make a run all the way to the championship game. Despite seeing double teams on most plays and being the focal point of almost every defense he faced, Pickens found a way to make play after play. Despite his impressive ability, Pickens never lets up or coasts and his non-stop effort and competitive spirit is what separates him from some of the other top players in this class at other positions.

The one thing working against him for the top-10 is the fact that the entire analyst team hasn’t had a chance to see him, but as an All-American, that will change and it will be hard for anyone who sees Pickens in action not to become a fan. - Rivals.com southeast recruiting analyst Woody Wommack

Rivals released their updated Top 10 today. They released it in video format (which is fricking stupid) so you can't see the list on their rankings yet.

I'll post the 10 after watching this dumb fricking thing.

2020 5-star DE/OLB Chris Braswell on Alabama:

quote:

“It’s great that they are committed to Alabama,” Braswell said of his teammates choosing the Tide. “They fit well into the school and I think it was the best decision for them. I guess you could call St. Frances the mini Alabama.

quote:

“I don’t feel any pressure at all (to join my teammates and commit to Alabama), although Eyabi would love for me to commit to Alabama right now,” Braswell said. “If Alabama is the right place for me, then I will commit there, but I wouldn’t feel pressured about it.”

Too bad Bama waited so long to offer Pickens. Loss out on Ross last year and looking like Bama has no chance to flip Pickens.

It would be nice to have picked up Ross and Pickens but we are good at WR. You can't have them all. Waddle will be amazing. Plus Auburn tends to waste thier elite receivers anyway. We will get some game breakers next year.

Pickens is looking like the best receiver to come out of Alabama since Julio Jones.
