Did you forget about Hudson Henry?

Good catch. I added him to the Top Targets list.

Nation's No. 1 TE says Bama offer means a lot (BOL - 02/13/17)

quote:

Alabama offered the nation’s No. 1 tight end,  Hudson Henry, on Monday night.

The Little Rock (Ark.) Pulaski Academy product adds the tender to a list that includes Arkansas, Notre Dame, Auburn, and Florida, among others.

“It’s crazy,” Henry told BamaOnLine of his reaction to the news. “Alabama, they’re the national champions. To get an offer from them is awesome. It just means a lot.”

Henry, the younger brother of former Razorbacks All-American tight end Hunter Henry, got the news from new Tide assistantbDan Enos, the former Arkansas offensive coordinator.

“I know him because he coached Hunter for a year, and he coached my brother for a year until he went up to Michigan and now Alabama,” Hudson said. “So I know him pretty well. We talked a lot. We just have a good relationship.

“He was really excited about being able to be a part of their program (Alabama). He told me he showed my film to Coach (Nick) Saban. He was really impressed, and they just wanted to offer me.”

Hudson visited Tuscaloosa once in the past with his older brother Hunter for a Junior Day, which ended up being a memorable trip to say the least. Prior to touring the campus, Hudson ate several chicken biscuits — he described it as “downing them like nobody’s business.”

“At the end of the tour we got to meet with Nick Saban,” Hudson said. “I was like this is really cool. I sat down in the chair and as he started talking, I just started dozing off and I just fell asleep for about 30 minutes while he was talking. I was excited to see if he somehow remembered me falling asleep in his office. It was pretty funny.”

Hudson says Saban told him he was the first person to ever do that, and is still likely that record holder to this day. Enos hoped to get Henry on campus for the Feb. 24 Junior Day later this month, but the four-star tight end already had visit plans to Fayetteville. Nevertheless, Henry hopes to make it out to Tuscaloosa this spring.

Being an Arkansas legacy (aside from his older brother Hunter, Hudson’s father played for Arkansas, and his other older brother Hayden is currently on the team), what keeps Hudson from committing?

“I just want to keep my options open,” he said. “Just because my brothers went to Arkansas doesn’t mean it’s the best place for me. I just want to choose a school that best fits me. If that’s Arkansas, that’s fine, if it’s not, that’s fine. I just want to find the best place for me.”

Henry has watched Alabama from afar and likes what he sees out of the Tide’s offense.

“I’ve been able to evaluate their offense,” he said. “I’ve watched a lot of their games. I really do enjoy how they use the tight end in their offense. They just are a fast-paced team. They like to beat up on their opponents like I like to. I think it’s really cool what they do with their offense.”

At 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, Henry is rated the No. 1 tight end and No. 37 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

The Razorbacks are the Crystal Ball favorite at 81% over the Fighting Irish.

What's Hank South got to say about Nolan Smith ? Bama got any shot to flip him ?

Would love to return the favor to Kirby this year.

Hank's article (below) and posts are consistent with the SEC Country article Cobrasize posted. He thinks Smith's continued visits and remarks indicate we've got a pretty decent shot.

[Anyone ever eat at Capital City Oyster House in Montgomery?]

Food is great Saint. If you go on Sunday afternoon they always have a jazz band. Good atmosphere, good view of the Alabama River.

Been wondering why he is never mentioned.
Nephew plays for McGill and says Bama is recruiting him hard.

Seems like there used to always be 1 or 2, but I remember A-Day being the time we'd usually get 3-4 good ones.

Bama hasn't got a commitment on A-Day weekend in a few years either.

I remember A-Day 2014, Bama got commitments from Fitzpatrick, Ridley, SBB and Leo Lewis.

Man i was hoping that your nervousness from last years recruiting thread would go away. I see that it is still kicking in. Are you seriously worried about recruiting again?

THE STORYLINE

He’s the No. 1 prospect in the country, and no one is sure where Quavaris Crouch is going to play - what position or even what school.

The Charlotte (N.C.) Harding University standout moved to the top spot in the 2019 rankings this last cycle after former No. 1 QB JT Daniels reclassified to the 2018 class. There is a tremendous amount of intrigue about Crouch, mainly because he remains open to a lot of teams and is still figuring out whether he’ll be a running back or linebacker over the long term.

Derrick Williams was the only other athlete to finish No. 1 overall - in the 2005 class - in the Rivals.com era dating back to 2002. That says little about Crouch, other than it’s rare not to have a set position and to finish in the top spot.

A prospect who looks like a bigger Dylan Moses or a slightly smaller Bo Scarbrough, can Crouch stay at running back or will he be forced to move to linebacker? And is this shaping up as a Clemson-Alabama powerhouse battle for Crouch’s services, or can other top programs sneak in as well?

FIRST TAKE: ADAM FRIEDMAN, RIVALS.COM MID-ATLANTIC RECRUITING ANALYST

“There are a couple of major contenders, but Clemson seems like the one that has piqued his interest the most. The Tigers have the least to prove going into the season and they’ve given him the option of playing offense or defense. He has a really good relationship with the running backs coach.

“South Carolina is a big contender, but it’s all about how the team performs this year and how he sees himself fitting into its scheme. Alabama is going to be hanging around for a long time because of his similarities to Moses and the options the Tide gave him. That’s intriguing to Crouch. Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee and a number of other schools are also in the mix.

“It seems like Clemson is doing the best with him, but it’s very fluid and he’s not close to a decision.”

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM NATIONAL RECRUITING ANALYST

“It’s going to be between Clemson and Alabama, is my guess. I think he ends up as a linebacker. He’s a big enough kid to make the transition to defensive end, but I don’t think he’ll be as special as a defensive end. He’s at his best when he’s moving in space, running around and making plays.

“It would be tempting to play him at running back, but I think he’s going to outgrow that position. Whether he goes to Clemson or Alabama, they’re going to put him in the best possible position to succeed. It’s going to be one of those two schools and he’s going to be a linebacker.”

After we finished #7 and missed on most of our NSD targets, I think it's more justified now than when we had a string of #1 classes. I think this will be an epic class for Bama, but I too would like to see some big spring commitments to get the class rolling. The slow start last year led to a slow finish, and we need to avoid that again.
