FWIW, Tosh is all over Marcel Brooks. Wants him badly. He's an absolute missile off the edge. Needs to bulk up and gain a lot of strength, but expect him to be a very high 4* if not 5* by NSD 2019. Also, expect that there's a really good chance that he's in Bama's class.

How does that work. You ride during the day so you can see the scenery. Then have lay overs in a few select cities where you can do quick tours? Or ride at night to maximize day stays in towns? Which locations will you stop at?

I don't remember all the stops but I know Rome, Florence and Milan. WE end in Bern Switzerland. I think 3 days in Rome and 2 or 3 in Florence, The wife has all the scoop on the trip. It's all her idea to go. She likes to spend money. We're also going on a 8 day rail trip out west in late May and early june. Utah, Arizona, Nevada and Colorado. Thats why we're trying to change dates on trip to Italy because the trips are so close together. Like I said, the wife likes to spend money.

Absolutely and I think that bodes well for our chances with the kid if he is willing to fly down on his on dime for an unofficial.

5-star DT planning trio of visits (BamaOnLine)

quote:

The nation's No. 2 defensive tackle, Faatui Tuitele, is planning to take an unofficial visit to Alabama this spring, the Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis product announced on Twitter Sunday evening.

Along with the Capstone, the 6-foot-4, 299-pounder plans to visit LSU and Ohio State over the course of the next few months.

The five-star prospect, who attends the same high school that UA freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa attended, is currently trending to USC on the Crystal Ball at 75 percent, followed by Oregon at 25 percent.

Tuitele is rated the No. 2 defensive tackle and the No. 27 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Note: He's tentatively planning to visit Ohio State and LSU between March 12-17 (his spring break) and Bama on April 5th.

Alabama offer would 'shock' nation's No. 2 DT (BamaOnLine-VIP)

Faatui Tuitele, 5-star DT (6-4/299) from Honolulu, is planning to visit Titletown on April 5th. “That’s why I’m going to take the visit and hopefully land that offer... It would mean a lot, honestly, it would shock me... I played with Tua my sophomore year; he’s a great leader... We haven’t gotten time to talk, but he doesn’t have to say anything. Him just playing on the national championship stage...already influenced me to want to be a part of that. His actions spoke for themselves.”

Alabama 2018 A-Day date, kickoff time set (al.com | Jan 22, 2018)
quote:

One season ends, another begins.

Alabama's offseason workouts with strength coach Scott Cochran began Monday morning. By the afternoon, the school announced the date for the 2018 A-Day Game.

The spring game will be April 21, 2018 in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1-p.m. CT with television plans to be announced at a later date. There will be no conflicts with the Easter holiday, which lands on April 1 this year.

Alabama's A-Day often coincides with Auburn's spring game , but that won't be the case this year. The Tigers will have their public scrimmage April 7.

Alabama drew 74,326 for last season's A-Day -- the ninth largest crowd in school history.

The A-Day Game is the annual spring practice finale. Teams are allowed to practice 15 times in the spring under NCAA rules. The start date for spring practice has not been announced.

Alabama is coming off its fifth national title in nine seasons after beating Georgia 26-23 in the CFP national championship game Jan. 8 in Atlanta.

The Crimson Tide opens the  2018 season Sept. 1 in Orlando against Louisville.

5-star OL Darnell Wright talks Alabama interest, schools recruiting him hardest, potential visits

Darnell Wright one of the Tide's top 2019 targets
quote:

Wright plans on returning to Tuscaloosa

The majority of Alabama’s offensive line signing class in the 2019 recruiting cycle may likely come from in state with talents such as 5-star tackle commit Pierce Quick, 5-star center Clay Webb and 4-star tackle Amari Kight all residing within the state. Outside Alabama, 5-star tackle Darnell Wright may be the top target on the offensive line.

Wright, the nation’s No. 3 tackle in the 2019 class from Huntington (WV) High School, has been to Tuscaloosa twice throughout his recruitment so far. He said he may return to Alabama for the Tide’s spring game in April and possibly for an official visit.

“I might take one to Alabama,” Wright told SEC Country. “I’ve been up there a few times now, so I know the players a bit. But it’s likely I’ll take an official visit there.”

The only official visit Wright knows he’s definitely taking as of now is to Southern California. He said ideally he wants to use his five official visits to harder-to-reach places for him. Wright’s plan is to take his official visits as soon as possible, beginning in the spring, because he plays sports year-round. In addition to playing football, Wright is a center for his school’s basketball team and a shot put thrower for Huntington’s track team.

The 6-foot-6, 295-pound prospect listed Alabama, North Carolina and Ohio State as the schools that are recruiting him the hardest right now. He said he hears from the Tide every week. Offensive line coach Brent Key is leading Wright’s recruitment, but he has also had several conversations with coach Nick Saban, too.

“I talk to Coach Key regularly,” Wright said. “Coach Key is really funny. We’re on really good terms. I talk to Coach Saban sometimes. It’s cool talking to Coach Saban. I know he’s busy because he does a lot for the program. When I talk to him, I try to not act like I’m talking to Jesus.

“They just tell me that I’m one of their top guys in this class. They’re looking forward to getting me back on campus sometime soon.”

Alabama only signed one tackle in the 2018 class — 4-star prospect Tommy Brown. There is quality young depth on the roster, though, with freshmen Alex Leatherwood and Jedrick Wills each showing flashes of potential stardom at points last season.

Still, that’s not going to scare away one of the nation’s top talents in the 2019 class.

“I’m never scared of a challenge,” Wright said. “I definitely could see myself playing there. I like the coaches at Alabama. Just from talking to them when I’ve been there, they just seem like good people. That’s what I base a lot of my recruitment on.”

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl invitee said the Tide’s constant ability to churn out draft picks on the offensive line won’t influence him in a major way because he’s just worried about getting through college first. He’ll worry about the NFL when that day comes.

Wright, who’s planning on majoring in either business or marketing when he gets to college, is planning to make his decision at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January; however, he said he’ll likely make a silent commitment to his school of choice prior to making his decision public.

Alabama’s top competition right now for Wright may be Ohio State. He’s originally from Dayton, Ohio, and lived there for a few years before moving to West Virginia. He thinks that may be a reason why some have called the Buckeyes the team to beat right now.

“I wouldn’t say they’re the top team right now,” Wright said. “Ohio State is definitely one of the top teams I’m considering, but I wouldn’t say they’re pulling away.”
