(BamaOnLine-VIP)
5-star OC Clay Webb 6-3/297 (AL) hudl
Webb plans to camp at LSU June 2, at Bama for its 1-day OL/DL camp on June 9 and at Clemson on June 12-13. That will be Webb's 3rd visit to Titletown since April.
ETA: It seems to me that Webb will likely be at Bama's Champions Cookout too.

LINK ]Bama set to attend FIU satellite camp (BamaOnLine)
quote:
For the second year in a row Alabama will be in attendance for Florida International's Butch Davis Football Camp on June 9.
June will be a busy month for the Crimson Tide staff. All of Bama's camps will be condensed into the first 25 days of the month as June 25-July 24 is considered a Dead Period this year, which prohibits face-to-face contact between coaches and recruits regardless of location.
Nick Saban along with Jeremy Pruitt, Mike Locksley, Brent Key, and Joe Pannunzio were in attendance at the FIU camp last summer, which could be seen as the turning point in both Tide signee Josh Jobe's and Patrick Surtain Jr.'s recruitments.
Heading into the summer, Jobe had announced he was shutting down his recruitment and sticking with his longtime commitment to Miami. After the camp, at The Opening Finals, the Miami, Fla. native said he would give Alabama a chance, which ultimately worked out well for Bama when the four-star corner flipped his commitment to the Tide prior to the Early Signing Period.
In Surtain's case, LSU was considered the heavy favorite for the nation's No. 1 cornerback for the majority of his recruitment. After Saban met with the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage product, the five-star defensive back trekked to Tuscaloosa for the Champions Cookout in July. Despite the Tigers still being a favorite throughout the season, Alabama kept after Surtain and ultimately landed him on National Signing Day last February.

South Florida has been good to Alabama in recent years with Jobe, Surtain Jr. and Xavier Williams joining the class in 2018. Some of UA's top targets in South Florida in the 2019 cycle include five-star cornerback and Florida State commit Akeem Dent, four-star cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, four-star Jack linebacker Khris Bogle, and four-star running back Kenny McIntosh.
Back in 2016, Saban voiced displeasure with the idea of satellite camps:
“I mean, this is the Wild Wild West at its best," Saban said in May of '16. "There’s been no specific guidelines relative to how we’re managing and controlling this stuff. It’s happening outside our normal evaluation window, which means we’re taking time away from our players.
“I don’t know how much it benefits anybody, aight. Because all the people that say this is creating opportunities for kids, this is all about recruiting. That’s what it’s about, aight. … And what’s amazing to me is somebody didn’t stand up and say, ‘Here’s gonna be the unintended consequences of what y’all are doing.’”
Last spring, the NCAA adjusted the rules involving satellite camps requiring camps to take place on college campuses or spaces that are used by member institutions. The new rules that went into effect last year also allow coaches participating at the camp to have recruiting conversations with prospective student athletes. With the new rules in place, we've seen the Tide staff take a different approach to camps outside of Tuscaloosa.
It should be noted that Alabama also has a one-day OL/DL camp at the Capstone on June 9.

Hakeem Beamon has picked up 10 Penn State CBs in 2 days. Although it appears Bama has guys ahead of him on their board, reportedly there had been pretty strong mutual interest.

LINK ]5-star UGA commit still seems like a long shot for Alabama
quote:
Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. In this edition, we talk the latest with a 5-star Georgia commit.
Nolan Smith still seems like a long shot for Alabama
Whenever I talk to Alabama fans about who they want to see in the Crimson Tide’s 2019 recruiting class, many times Nolan Smith, a 5-star Jack linebacker from IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) is mentioned. It could be because he is one of the most gifted players in the 2019 recruiting cycle, because he is committed to Georgia or a combination of both.
There were a few minutes on April 1 during which it seemed Smith was going to end up committing to Alabama after he announced his “de-commitment.” It turned out to be an April Fool’s joke that wasn’t executed well.

Still, Alabama fans and coaches have hoped to change Smith’s mind on the Bulldogs. His commitment to Georgia is stronger than ever, though. “I’ve just felt a lot of love from Georgia and the people and the staff and the coaches,” Smith told my DawgNation colleague Jeff Sentell.“And there is a lot to love about Georgia.”
He continued. “I love the way Coach [Dan] Lanning just talks to me,” Smith said. “Not the way he recruits me or anything. He makes me feel like there is more to life than football. I love coaches like that. There’s more to life than football and doing this and that and even the partying in college.
“I say this a lot: Football is not going to take care of me and my family forever. At the end of the day, I love playing football but what I do besides play football will take care of my family forever is if I learn the right things. If I learn how to be a great businessman and handle what comes through football if I am that blessed. I need to have my head on right and own some businesses. I need to be a sharp businessman. My son could take over those one day. His son could take it over. I would want my grandkids to go to $75,000-a-year schools like IMG without playing a sport.”
Smith is highly coveted by the Alabama staff and has been for about two years. At 6-foot-3, 233 pounds, Smith posted a 4.51-second 40-yard dash time, a 44.5-inch vertical jump and a 4.15-second 5-10-5-yard shuttle time.

The nation’s No. 6 overall player has been committed to Georgia for more than a year, but he has made numerous trips to Tuscaloosa. He compared the Alabama staff to a part of his family, but it hasn’t been enough for him to change his mind.
Smith has actively recruited for the Bulldogs and is trying to get several of his IMG Academy teammates, such as 5-star running back Trey Sanders, who is a major Alabama target, to commit to Georgia.
“I just say, ‘This is the spot,’ and I let it speak for itself,” Smith said of his recruiting pitch. “They are all going to see. When we win, they will be sitting on their couch thinking I want to watch that game and watch that team play even though I know they won or they were at another visit that day. If you flip through and Georgia versus Tennessee is on, they will have to watch the game to see what Georgia did. Georgia is going to make exciting plays from now on no matter who it is on that field. It is the spot. It speaks for itself.”
As I’ve said for several months now, it is great that Alabama has hosted him several times on campus, but Smith has no intentions of reopening his recruitment. Those Tide fans who are hoping he changes his mind should probably focus on other Jack linebacker targets.
The good news is Alabama is in good shape with several Jack linebackers in this class, such as 4-star prospects Kevin Harris and King Mwikuta, who are committed to the Tide; the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, Kayvon Thibodeaux; and 4-star prospect Mohamoud Diabate, who can play several linebacker spots in the Tide’s defensive scheme.

4* S/WR DeMarcco Hellams 6-1/203 (MD) hudl
DeMarcco Hellams and teammate Nick Cross at Dematha Catholic HS, where the Kouandjio bro's played, will officially visit UA June 8-10. Hellams visited in March, but Cross' visit will be his first.
Hellams wants to make his decision and commit before FB season. But he plans to make return visits to Clemson, Virginia Tech, Penn State and an initial visit to USCw beforehand.
It appears the Tigers lead with the Tide and Lions close behind and that UA has a pretty good shot if they push.

Nick Cross and teammate DeMarcco Hellams at Dematha Catholic HS, where the Kouandjio bro's played, will officially visit UA June 8-10. Hellams visited in March, but Cross' visit will be his first.
Cross' schedule: AU OV June 2, UA OV June 8-10, Penn State UV June 15, 7-on-7 tourny June 22, FSU OV June 26-28 and The Opening Final (DFW) end of June. Cross used one OV to UF in April.
FSU is trending and Ohio State fading per the 247 Crystal Ball, due in part to intel that Cross wants to play his CFB in a warmer climate. Like UA, FSU has some MD recruiting ties. And like Hellams, Cross also wants to make his decision and commit prior to FB season.

Henry visited Nebraska, Ole Miss and Tennessee May 18-20 and then committed to the Vols soon thereafter. I just have to weigh out all my options.” Henry has three years to play two and will be an early enrollee.

3-star QB Layne Hatcher, who joined UA's 2018 recruiting class last week, was teammates with Henry at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, AR. Even so, PA's head coach told BOL, "It wouldn't surprise me if Bama still had a chance due to the past relationship with Dan Enos, and the fact that Bama is Bama and is such a winning program."

Yes sir. I've read that Saban told Hill he thinks he can probably play any DB position. I've also read that he's told both Hill and Cross that he plans to teach them all the DB positions and plans to use them to be the DBs leader, probably playing mostly Safety & Nickel; i.e., "like Minka."
