CHRISTIAN HARRIS, 4-STAR ATH, BATON ROUGE (LA.) UNIVERSITY LAB
Rated the No. 10 athlete and the No. 143 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite
We saw Alabama’s linebacking corp plagued by injuries last season. And after former 2018 inside linebacker commits Quay Walker and Vernon Jackson went elsewhere this past National Signing Day, stockpiling depth at the position is important in the 2019 class.
We’ve already mentioned UA commit Shane Lee and another must-get target in Nakobe Dean. Harris is another key prospect in the class.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder, despite being rated as an athlete, is recruited as an inside linebacker, and it appears as if he and Dean are the priority targets at the position.
Harris named the Tide his leader back in February after Junior Day, but backed off that stance a short time later as other schools became more involved.
Alabama still looks to hold some sort of advantage here, especially if you follow the visits. Harris has been on campus three times this spring and will return on June 3 and then again possibly for the Tide’s cookout on June 22.
Harris has said that he hopes to make a decision in the summer, and you have to like Bama’s chances if that’s the case.

FAATUI TUITELE, 5-STAR DT, HONOLULU (HAWAII) ST. LOUIS
Rated the No. 2 defensive tackle and the No. 24 overall player, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite
It’s easy to say any five-star recruit is a can’t-miss, but considering the importance strong defensive line play is to a team’s overall success, Tuitele is cemented among the Tide’s must-have targets.
A class potentially consisting of Alfano, Sopsher, Tuitele, Cheney, and Dale would certainly have to be considered an all-timer under Nick Saban and give the Tide tremendous depth going forward.
Tuitele, a distant cousin and former teammate of Tua Tagovailoa, visited Alabama last month and included the program in his top five.
The five-star defensive tackle is currently in the process of setting up official visits with a decision potentially coming before the start of his senior season.
“They develop their players and prepare them for the NFL, which is my ultimate goal,” Tuitele recently told 247Sports’ Blair Angulo. “Their success speaks for itself. I have built a strong relationship with Coach Tosh Lupoi, who is an outstanding person when you speak to him. Coach Nick Saban also cares for his players and coaches. Their programs are top notch.”

If I could tell Devonta Lee anything I'd tell him if Saban wants you on defense take his suggestion to heart. I remember hearing Saban wanted Vince Young at safety. Vince had an all-time great college career at QB but had he listened to Saban he'd still likely be cashing NFL checks.

Highlights: Taulia Tagovailoa at QB Retreat
Lia can fricking sling it.

quote:
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Taulia Tagovailoa made waves earlier this spring when he announced his commitment to Alabama and was back in the national spotlight at the Steve Clarkson QB Retreat, turning in one of the top performances in the two-day event.
The four-star quarterback from Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson was a late arrival to the camp as he made a pit stop on his way back to the mainland from Hawaii, but he didn't show any rust. In fact, Tagovailoa pierced the gusty conditions by the Pacific coast with his strong arm, was accurate rolling out to either side and showed off the accuracy that should give Crimson Tide fans optimism that the second Tagovailoa brother could be just as good as the first.
The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Tagovailoa ranks No. 187 overall in the 2019 class, No. 8 among pro-style quarterbacks and in the state of Alabama, per the 247Sports Composite.
Check out the video above to see highlights from the younger Tagovailoa's performance this past weekend.

What's alabama chances of flipping George Pickens???? Him and waddle for the future would be nasty!!
Alabama has as good, or likely better of a chance to flip Auburn commit George Pickens than anyone. He is set to take an official visit to Michigan and he has visited Florida State and Georgia, but I still like where Auburn is right now.
Pickens has gotten very close with Bo Nix, Auburn’s 2019 quarterback commit. We know Pickens will visit Tuscaloosa over the summer, then likely return in the fall. The biggest question is what took Alabama so long to offer. Pickens is clearly one of the top wideouts in the 2019 class, but it does not sound like the timing of the offer hurts their chances. He does have some close to him, including family members that are Alabama fans, but he will not be an easy pull from Auburn.

Which Mississippi recruits will reach 5 star status for 2019?
The one to watch is Nakobe Dean. The linebacker out of Horn Lake is one that will be in the discussion for sure. I saw him practice last week and was again, very impressed. He is a complete linebacker and very explosive. The only thing I would change with Dean is his length. If I could make him a little taller/longer, he would be about as close to perfect as any inside linebacker.
The state of Mississippi is as strong at the top as I have ever seen it in my 14 years. It has about 20 prospects who can make a fair case to be four-stars this cycle, so it is a very strong year, but when it comes to five-stars, Dean is the one that stands the closest at this time.

3. WHERE WILL THE UNCOMMITTED FIVE-STARS LAND?
Now that Zacch Pickens is off the board, I might as well predict the remaining five-stars before we shuffle the rankings in a few weeks. Here goes:
quote:
OL Darnell Wright – Tennessee. Yes, this means I’m betting against Alabama, which is often very stupid, but the Vols have a few things going for them including proximity to home. Some folks close to him would love to see him wearing orange.

quote:
DE Kayvon Thibodeaux – Florida State. I know, I know, I’m crazy to think this kid will get away from USC but he’s focused so much on out-of-state teams I’m going to go out on a limb right now and say the ‘Noles pull the surprise with USC and LSU up there.

Posted on 5/29/18 at 8:39 pm to TideSaint
quote:
DT Ishmael Sopsher – LSU. I’m tempted to say Alabama here because the Tide do such a great job stealing away recruits from Louisiana, but he decides to stay home in the end.
Posted on 5/29/18 at 8:40 pm to TideSaint
quote:
RB Trey Sanders – Florida. I’m going with family here and, with his brother on board, He follows suit.

Posted on 5/29/18 at 8:42 pm to TideSaint
quote:
OC Clay Webb – Alabama. He’s been a Tide lean for the longest time and I don’t see anyone being able to steal him away.
So, in conclusion, Mike Farrell thinks we only get one 5-star guy. Again.

He'll be wrong on Darnell Wright, most likely. Wright is ALL Bama right now. utk has a LOT of ground to make up.

Very surprised Darnell Wright didn’t publicly commit to bama on his latest visit.

Kenny McIntosh fished second to Richards in the Miami stop’s MVP race but that didn’t say anything bad about his performance. Few backs in the country have as impressive a build as the Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons High School star. Despite his size, McIntosh cunts quickly without losing speed and has solid hands for a back that, at least on the surface, appears built for power.
