LINK ]DJ Dale: "I felt in my gut that Alabama is the right place for me"

quote:

DJ Dale hit the road this spring and he visited Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Tennessee. All schools impressed him, but his last visit to Tuscaloosa pushed him to commit earlier than he planned to.

The 6-foot-3, 320 pound defensive lineman out of Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville announced his commitment to Alabama Wednesday and he explains his commitment.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I have committed to Alabama and I committed on A-Day, a day that I had no plans of committing on," said Dale. I didn't plan on committing until some time in the summer, but I just felt it that day.

"I told coach Saban, coach Kulowski, coach Lupoi and coach Key at the end of A-Day. They were all very excited.

"I chose Alabama because of the relationships I have with all the coaches. I feel like I will be well taken care of there. I can really see myself playing for them and I wanted to go to a place where I can win and have fun doing it.

"I just felt in my gut that Alabama is the right place for me. I committed to them over Clemson.

"It was a tough decision and I couldn’t have went wrong with any other programs in my top five, but I’m happy with my decision. It relieves a little bit of stress that I didn’t want going into the season.

"I enjoyed the whole process, but it got stressful at times. It was a great experience, but I am shutting everything down and I am done with recruiting. I am not taking anymore visits."

RIVALS REACTION: This is Alabama's ninth commitment since April 5th, so to say that the Crimson Tide is having a great spring is an understatement. Dale is the 6th in-state prospect to commit to Alabama, so they are doing a good job there too.

Alabama has definitely developed their share of top defensive linemen since Saban took over and Dale hopes to be next. Dale is a strong interior defensive linemen who plays with leverage and works his hands. Look for him to line up right over the opposing center on the Crimson Tide defensive line.

I'm actually the bag man for the Chalkville, Pinson, Hewitt and Center Point area. Throw Huffman, Fultondale and Gardendale in there too

Who is left in state that might commit to Bama besides Webb and the kicker from Hoover?

This is from the posted BOL article on Dale's commitment:
quote:

Dale hopes to help in the Tide’s recruiting efforts going forward. He identified four-star linebacker Vonta Bentley as one of his primary targets.

Right now, it appears Bentley may not be high enough on Bama's board to end up at Bama. I suspect Dale doesn't know the staff's priorities. I don't either, but it's obvious Bama isn't pushing for Bentley at this point.

Bama tried to get Hoover WR George Pickens to visit for A-Day but he no-showed. Per BOL, the staff wants Pickens to camp at Bama before offering him.

Bama likes Lanett safety Trikweze Bridges, but right now he doesn't appear to be high enough on Bama's board to end up in this class.

Bob Jones (Madison) CB Jaydon Hill performed well at an Atlanta camp and got a big rating bump. Enos went to see him recently. Bama may want him to camp before offering. But like some others I mentioned, right now he doesn't appear likely to end up at Bama.

Bama will have some in-state guys at summer camps and they still have their senior season to play, so it's possible that those or other in-state players could become priorties later on.

ETA: Oh crap, I forgot about Auburn HS OLB Mohamoud Diabate. Here's a very interesting nugget from this posted SEC Country aticle:
quote:

Mohamoud Diabate is being recruited as an inside and outside linebacker and does have a committable offer, too.

If that's correct and Diabate is definitely a take, he might commit early.

If anyone wants a good laugh that fricking idiot Clemson fan Tillman just predicted Alabama will lose to LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss and Missouri next season.

It's in the Dabo thread on the SECRant, page 7.

I can't stand him. I know we shouldn't dislike the mentally challenged, but I can't stand that little creep.

Idk if Tillman is that much of dumbass or if he's just using dumbass bait -- which actually works pretty well on the SEC rant.

Alabama has 6 in-state right now. Webb and Reichard would make 8. I can see 10. Maybe Diabate or Bentley at LB or Jaydon Hill at CB. There’s always late riser Alabama signs from in-state too.

Hey - hit your girl up on the tweeters and ask her what she thinks about Bama cleaning up in state

Tell her she has a cult following on the Bama board.

May 2nd and we’re pretty much half full. Are we gonna have a numbers crunch? Hell, we won’t have but maybe 1-2 spots left after the early signing period.

I did my post above off the top of my head and totally forgot about Diabate. After seeing your post, I added this:

I feel like we will fill up early and leave a few spots left for prize recruits while slow playing a few for those we don't get... Just my opinion
