Amari Kight
Kight is an elite offensive tackle that is coveted by many top programs. He was at Auburn not long ago, he visited Georgia over the weekend and he will be back at Alabama on Saturday for the Tide's spring game. It could come down to an in-state battle, but Georgia is in this too. Alabama could be tough to beat in the end, so we give the edge to the Crimson Tide today.
Prediction: Alabama

Good get. With some S&C and coaching he'll be really good, imo.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows from Watts though. He put in a Foggy CB for Jaylen McCollough.

Recent visit changes Quandarrius Robinson’s perception of LSU
quote:
LSU visit makes its mark on Quandarrius Robinson
BUFORD, Ga. — At 6-foot-5 and 207 pounds, Quandarrius Robinson has the frame that entices LSU’s defensive coaching staff.
A projected hybrid outside linebacker or safety, Robinson is unsure what his future holds. At a recent Nike Opening regional camp, he clocked a sub-4.9-second 40-yard dash, a 4.32-second shuttle and a 36.5-inch vertical. Pair that with nearly 10-inch hands and an 80-inch wingspan. More likely than not, the junior outside linebacker prospect will pack even more muscle onto his frame. He still could grow a few inches too.
When Robinson visited LSU last month, three Tigers coaches let him know he’s a wanted man.
“The love … the love … It was a lot of love. The Auburn love is one thing, but when I went up to LSU, I couldn’t get alone,” Robinson laughed. “Coach [Tommie] Robinson, Coach [Dave] Aranda and meeting [Coach Dennis Johnson] … I got to see what they were all about. I’m starting to feel ’em.”
“I don’t want to put a number on it,” he added, “but LSU — they’re up there now.”
Robinson, a top-300 prospect in the Class of 2020, has made a string of visits to kick off the spring. That also included stops at Clemson, Auburn, Alabama and Florida.
So, how did the visit to the Bayou differ from the other stops?
“It’s a college with history,” Robinson said. “I liked when they talked about the education and their success graduating more [players] than anybody. They also talked about they’re going to have more advanced classes coming in for 2019 and 2020.”
While Robinson’s body type suggests he’ll be either a safety or an outside linebacker, LSU has not specified a role for him yet.
During the visit, however, the Jackson-Olin (Ala.) High School product kept his eyes on Eric Monroe while the team was scrimmaging. He envisioned playing in a similar fashion down the road in the LSU defense.
“I liked the all-around feeling of it,” Robinson explained. “I got to watch them practice and I liked that very much. No. 30 [Monroe] was so serious. He doesn’t have great height, but he’s got it. Whatever position they want to put me at, I’ll be fine with.”

Florida visit an eye-opener for top DBs Brendan Gant, Tyrique Stevenson
quote:
Gators host Alabama commit Brendan Gant
The nation’s No. 5 safety in the 2019 class, Brendan Gant, was one of several top recruits at Florida’s spring game last Saturday.
The 4-star recruit from Kathleen High School (Lakeland, Fla.) was visiting for the first time since the staff changes last season.
“It was a good seeing the difference with the coaches and the culture,” Gant told SEC Country. “They want to get the program back to what it was with [Tim] Tebow and all those boys.”
Gant paid close attention to Florida’s defensive backs and how they fit into the new scheme. He was impressed with safeties coach Ron English and a couple players in the secondary.
“It’s a lot more fast out there. The players are flying around and they’re having more fun,” Gant said. “The DBs had good technique and I can see what the coaches teach and preach to them. I watched Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Marco Wilson and they’re both really good players.”
The 6-foot-2, 187-pound prospect met with English, Florida coach Dan Mullen and tight ends coach Larry Scott, his area recruiter. The Gators signed a pair of players from Lakeland in their 2017 class, including Kathleen alum Ventrell Miller.
“They just want me to come,” Gant said of Mullen and Co. “Plenty of guys from my county came here and they want to keep the tradition going. … It’s close to home. I’ve always been a Florida fan, so I keep them as an option.”
Ranked No. 133 nationally in the 247Sports composite, Gant is committed to the Crimson Tide and plans to attend their spring game Saturday. However, the staff turnover at Alabama has opened the door for Florida and others to get in the mix (read more).
“I’m staying firm with it, but I’m still getting around more and exploring my options,” Gant said of his status. “I have a couple schools I’m still into like Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Miami and Georgia. Really anyone who just comes at me hard.
“I just want to see how they compare with things like education, would I be able to live there and help my career with football and school. … I’m not really sure [about a final decision]. There’s not really a specific date. Just whenever I feel like it’s complete and I’m ready.”

I tried to get some inside info on Brendan Gant's recruitment late last night in the BOL Recruiting Chat. Hank locked the thread this morning without answering my questions and before anyone else got to provide much of anything.

4-star cornerback Jaydon Hill gives South Carolina slight edge with Tennessee visit looming
quote:
Tennessee didn’t sign a cornerback in the 2018 class, which makes it one of the most important positions in the 2019 cycle for the Vols.
Tennessee has positioned itself well for 4-star Madison, Ala., native Jaydon Hill. The Vols offered him at the end of March and have been in regular contact. This recruitment looks like it’ll come down between the Vols and South Carolina.
“To me, right now, they are on the same level,” Hill told SEC Country. “They are both, basically, 50/50 right now. They both are standing out the most.
“Actually, South Carolina gets a tad bit more edge because they are recruiting me a little bit harder. I hear from their coaches a little bit more. I talk to Coach [Travaris Robinson] about every day, and I talk to Coach [Jeremy] Pruitt and [Terry] Fair often, but it’s not as often.”
This is an extreme position of need. If this comes down to South Carolina putting in more effort than that’s a problem. Hill is moving up the recruiting rankings, he was a 3-star a month ago. It’d be very wise for Fair to push a little harder.
Hill plans to attend the Orange and White game this weekend, so the Vols have an opportunity to overtake the Gamecocks. It’ll be his first visit to Knoxville since picking up the Tennessee offer.
Tennessee will push the need for cornerbacks and the possibility of early playing time. It will also emphasize how Fair played in the NFL for six years. Pruitt also has a track record of putting defensive backs into the NFL which is something Hill is looking for from a coaching staff.
“That’s kind of an important thing to me, really,” Hill said. “Being coached by experienced coaches. Coach Fair was a past player at Tennessee and Coach T-Rob has coached a lot of first rounders.”
The 6-foot, 172-pound Hill is a great talent who could get a call from Alabama later in the recruiting process. Tennessee needs to take advantage of the momentum from this weekend and start pursuing him as much as South Carolina. Losing out on this talent by being outworked shouldn’t happen. The Vols are right there for his recruitment, though.

Breaking down LSU’s top targets on West Coast
quote:
Who are some realistic targets for LSU from the west coast?
Excellent question, Harold, especially because there has been a surplus of offers to West Coast prospects under coach Ed Orgeron, who was once the defensive line coach for Pete Carroll at Southern Cal. The same goes for Tommie Robinson, a two-time assistant for the Trojans, and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, who is originally from California and has major ties out West.
The 2019 and 2020 recruiting classes have several major targets high on LSU’s board. Certainly, visits from the West Coast to the Bayou are not easy to justify, but the team has hosted a handful of prospects from that part of the country in recent months. In other words, there are fairly high chances at least some wind up playing their college football in Baton Rouge.
Here’s a breakdown of 2019 and 2020 prospects who have a chance to wind up as Tigers:
Posted on 4/19/18 at 10:17 am to TideSaint
quote:
2019 prospects
- Chris Steele, 5-star CB, Bellflower, Calif.
- Kayvon Thibodeaux, 5-star DE, Westlake Village, Calif.
- Faatui Tuitele, 5-star DT, Honolulu
- Michael Johnson Jr., 4-star QB, Eugene, Ore.
Breakdown: The West Coast group of prospects pales in comparison to those located within a 500-mile radius of LSU’s campus, but these are seriously talented players who have been linked to the team. Steele will make an official visit to LSU for the spring game on Saturday, his second trip to Baton Rouge in a four-month span. Sources close to the 5-star cornerback suggest there’s serious interest between the two sides. Thibodeaux made waves when he visited last spring but has since made stops at Florida, Florida State and Alabama this year. Still, LSU made a strong enough impression this time a year ago that it’s squarely in the mix for an official visit in the fall. It’s also worth noting Thibodeaux’s parents are from the Acadiana region. Tuitele of Hawaii visited this spring. While LSU is linked closer with 5-star tackle Ishmael Sopsher, a visit from Hawaii to the mainland suggests Tuitele has a strong relationship with Orgeron and members of the defensive staff. Johnson has yet to visit LSU but indicated interest early in the spring. As quarterback dominos begin to fall across the country, a visit to Baton Rouge could pay off in a big way; though for now, Oregon and Miami should be considered bigger favorites.

I saw on Bleacher Report’s IG that Jalen’s dad said if he doesn’t win the job he will transfer.

Tim Watts says he doesn't think Jaylen McCollough is a take right now.

Maybe that will force Saban to make a decision but not sure how that can work with Tua hurt

I'd be a little surprised if Jalen doesn't start the game in the season opener. I'd also be a little surprised if he has the most QB reps in tough games next year.

A couple of top insiders said McCollough has wanted to commit for some time, but Bama wants him to hold off committing anywhere (others are pushing) for now. Maybe the green light depends on Brendan Gant (waivering?) and Noa Pola-Gates. They both said McCollough could end up in Bama's class. Watts added that Bama has some tough decisions to make. A top insider told me last night that Jalyn Phillips is another safety Bama likes a lot. Phillips is visiting this weekend.
