That's where it's at. Mutts are healthier and you don't have to worry about supporting some POS breeder (not that they all are, just comes with the risk).

It does happen -- mainly with fighting breeds.
I know a guy who was almost killed by his two Akitas. Intensive care, many surgeries, major damage, including a lost eye and ear. When my nephew was a small child, he was attacked by their own Chow.
In both cases, these were loving family pets who abrubtly attacked their own loved ones for no reason. In both cases, the dogs attempted to kill them and would have if nobody had been around to see it and intervene.
A lot of breeds are excluded from insurance liability coverage in the policy fine print.
If you want a scary looking protective dog that's a good safe pet, Boxer is a pretty good choice.
My first dog was an Alaskan Malamute/Husky mix, I was 3 or 4 and named him Hulk

I was taught to establish dominance from the start and never back down or hesitate.
That is a must. I had the good fortune that a really good professional "dog whisperer" taught me her secrets. She taught me about how they interpret your behavior and body language and about seemingly unimportant things to do and refrain from that are actually very important and very effective.
Dog behavior is largely dictated by their ancient pack animal instints and related body language communication. Your family pet is instinctively a member of your pack (family). It's all about establishing and maintaining the pecking order in the pack. If you understand how they tick and how to "speak" their pack animal body language, it's easy to control them and train them quickly. It's cool stuff.
The majority of pet owners unknowingly do lots of little things all the time that greatly undermine their ability to control their dog's behavior. It's common for dogs to obey only some of the family (pack) members. It's also common for them to break "rules" when no one above them in the pecking order is watching. If a dog considers itself above you in the pecking order, they feel it's absurd for you to expect them to obey you.
Some dogs are submissive, some try to move up in the pecking order, and some will feel a strong urge to be pack leader. Ocassionally, a normally sweet dog will suddenly show agression toward a family member due to instinctive urge to move up in the pecking order or to counter a perceived threat to its perceived status. Ocassionally, one will abruptly "turn on" and attack, and even try to kill, its master due to instinctive urge and pent up desire to become pack leader.

Yep that's why I said they don't turn on people. Most just don't understand dogs. You can't be friendly baby talk to them all the time. I'm not saying mike Vick them but you have to assert your dominance.

Yep. I understand enjoying the recruiting process, but you can still do that once you commit. Why guys like Webb don't pull the trigger in order to help pull in their future teammates is a little baffling. Good on Quick for being a leader and not dragging things out to get attention for himself.

Alabama will battle other name program to land nation’s No. 1 overall prospect

Alabama finished seventh in the 2018 class recruiting rankings, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top in 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on Twitter or on Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers here.
What are Alabama’s chances with Kayvon Thibodeaux? - Caleb Steele
Kayvon Thibodeaux, the nation’s No. 1 recruit according to the 247Sports composite rankings out of Oaks Christian (Westlake Village, Calif.), made his first visit to Alabama last weekend and it couldn’t have gone better for him and the Crimson Tide’s chances at landing the 5-star Jack linebacker.
Thibodeaux admitted that before going to Tuscaloosa, he wasn’t thinking much of Alabama because of a negative perception he had of the school. That thinking has changed after spending two days on campus.
“It blew my mind. It exceeded all of my expectations,” Thibodeaux told SEC Country. “I wasn’t really too big on Alabama going into it, but they changed my mind. Before going, it just seemed like too much of a factory. They got the best guys. They didn’t turn these guys into big D-1 prospects. They just got the best guys. But now seeing it in person, I see that they pay attention to every little detail [to] make them better.”
Thibodeaux called the Tide the team to beat in his recruitment, but it’s early. He’s not planning to make a commitment until October at the earliest. If he was making a decision today, Alabama would likely be the choice, but he’s not. Alabama will have to battle with Southern California throughout his recruitment.
The good news is Thibodeaux said Alabama will receive an official visit at some point this fall. I expect Alabama to be a strong contender throughout his recruitment.

Theo Wease and Arjei Henderson committed to Oklahoma today. Although the crystal balls for the two high ranked WRs have been trending heavily to Oklahoma, both had indicated lately that they planned to visit Bama before making their decisions in summer to early fall.

I hate Oklahoma. It started in the 80's. The 90's were wonderful because they sucked

That thinned out our WR board a lot, though I didn't think we'd land either of them anyway. It'd be nice to land a tall WR like George Pickens, but I'd feel a'ight if we only sign Devonta Lee, and use the spot for another DL or LB. Also, Turnage was recruited primarily at DB, but he's a very good WR too, if the need arises (e.g., injuries) to put him at WR. So, WR really isn't a big need in this cycle:
Wide Receiver Roster (10) -- (* = redshirt)
SR: Derek Kief*, Xavian Marks
JR: None
SO: Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III
FR: Tyrell Shavers*, Chadarius Townsend*, Jaylen Waddle, Xavier Williams, Slade Bolden
If we do only take Lee and 1-2 DB/WR for 2019, we will need a nice WR haul in the 2020 cycle.
ETA: Bama's WR corp is fricking nasty.
ETA: George Pickens plans to visit for A-Day.

Yea, I think Slade will end up sticking on defense. I wanted him on offense, but he's apparently doing a pretty good job back there.

Idk, Bolden is a bit too short (5'11") for safety. He may be OK for CB or star. He's a good athlete and FB player -- able to do a good job covering the temporary lack of depth this spring in the 2ndary. I think he moves to offense after the four 2018 freshmen DBs arrive in late May.

I hope he moves to offense. I want to see what he can do with the ball in his hands.
