I would put his HS film somewhere between Coker’s and McCarron’s. AJ’s looked more dynamic - to me - at the same stage.
I think he compares much better with AJ. Coker always had a cannon arm, but just had an incredibly slow throwing motion.

Paul Tyson details who he is going to recruit
quote:
Alabama landed its quarterback in the 2019 class on Thursday as Paul Tyson, the great-grandson of Paul “Bear” Bryant, gave his verbal pledge to the Crimson Tide.
After not signing a quarterback to scholarship in 2018, getting the position taken care of early this year was of the utmost importance. Nick Saban and staff wasted no time pressing for the Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) product’s commitment.
“They just kept saying, ‘You’re our guy, you’re our guy, you’re our guy,’” Tyson told BamaOnLine. “They said I fit great into their system and they just really wanted me to commit to be the leader of the class and just start bringing people in.
“They were pumped up. I had a meeting with (Saban) set up at 1:15 and I talked to all the other coaches and they were all super pumped. Coach Saban was excited, too. It was a lot of fun.”
Like his teammate and fellow UA commit Pierce Quick, Tyson now turns his attention to helping the Tide build the best class it can.
“I’m definitely going to be looking at those offensive linemen and receivers,” Tyson said. “Everywhere around I’m going to look for the best fits for Alabama that they want. I’m definitely going to be looking at Clay Webb and Amari Kight. I’m just going to say Bama’s the move. You can’t find anything out there that compares like Alabama.”
Even with Tyson’s commitment, Alabama continues to recruit four-star signal caller Taulia Tagovailoa, Tua’s younger brother at Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson. Tyson welcomes the competition, so Alabama fans shouldn’t worry about a Tagovailoa commitment affecting anything.
“That will not change anything with me no matter what,” Tyson said. “I’m not afraid to be part of any competition. I like competition.”
Tyson hopes to leave his own mark on Alabama when he’s done, one that would resemble his great-grandfather’s legacy.
“My goal is to leave with as many national championships as we can bring in,” Tyson said. “I want to help this team in the best way I possibly can and become a better quarterback.”
At 6-foot-4, 217 pounds, Tyson is rated the No. 7 pro-style quarterback and the No. 222 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.

Tyson’s film reminds me of Jake Coker.
That’s fair. My first thought/comparison was Mac Jones. Two guys that are realy good solid prospects that I don’t think will transfer out because they don’t start their first few years. In this day and age, I think having one or two guys like that in the QB room is a must (or you get left with a situation like we could have had last year if Hurts got injured and we didn’t strike gold in Tau).

Vols in top five for four-star DT
quote:
Just one day after Tennessee picked up its first defensive-tackle commitment for the 2019 class, a highly ranked defensive tackle who recently visited the Vols named them one of his favorites.
Four-star junior defensive tackle DJ Dale of Clay-Chalkville High School in Pinson, Ala., announced Thursday night on his Twitter account that Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn and Florida State are his top five college choices.
The 6-foot-2, 315-pound Dale tweeted that the teams were listed “in no specific order.”
Tennessee received a commitment Wednesday from three-star defensive tackle LeDarrius Cox of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile, Ala.
The Vols also added a commitment late Wednesday night from defensive lineman Darel Middleton of East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Miss. Middleton is a Knoxville-area native who appears likely to be in Tennessee’s 2019 class after enrolling in January at East Mississippi, his second junior college in less than two years.
But Tennessee, which is transitioning to a 3-4 defense under new coach Jeremy Pruitt, still is searching for more help on the defensive line.
That’s where Dale could come into play.
Dale visited Tennessee for the first time March 15 after getting a scholarship offer from Pruitt’s staff on Jan. 12, and he told GoVols247 after the visit that he had a “really great time” in Knoxville and plans to visit the Vols again.
“I had a really great time, and I’ll definitely be back,” Dale said at the time. “I’m not sure (when) yet, but I’ll be back for sure.”
He has received offers from more than a dozen schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, LSU, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Louisville.
Florida State hosted Dale on Saturday for the first time, and he traveled to Clemson on March 3. He visited in-state schools Auburn and Alabama in February.
Dale is rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports, where he’s ranked the No. 197 overall prospect and No. 10 defensive tackle in the 2019 class and the No. 10 junior from Alabama.
In the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, he’s a three-star prospect who’s ranked the No. 401 overall player and No. 26 defensive tackle in the 2019 class and the No. 14 junior from the state of Alabama.
The lone prediction on the 247Sports Crystal Ball points to Alabama as the favorite to land Dale.

Family matters: Bama's new QB commit talks Bear Bryant legacy
quote:
Hewitt-Trussville's Paul Tyson has another season of high school football to play, but he became Alabama's quarterback of the future after committing to the Crimson Tide on Thursday.
The great-grandson of legendary Alabama coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, Tyson threw for 3,392 yards and 36 touchdowns, with only four interceptions, last year as the Huskies finished 10-0 in the regular season for the second straight season. He's currently a four-star prospect, according to 247 sports.
Now that he's committed, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Tyson plans to only visit Alabama, expects to graduate high school in December and wants to help recruit other top prospects for the Tide.
Paul Tyson spoke to AL.com on Thursday night -just hours after making his commitment public - for a short question-and-answer session.
Q: What has today, the day you committed, been like for you?
"It's been amazing to know I found my home at Alabama, and it's really something special to me. It's been a great journey so far, and I've really enjoyed it. Now, I'm kind of glad it's come to an end, and I found a place where I really want to be."
Q: Why did you choose Alabama and why commit now?
"Really, because it felt like home. I tried to be open-minded throughout the recruiting process, but honestly it just came down to how great Alabama was and I felt like I fit best in that system and the coaches -- coach (Nick) Saban, coach (Dan) Enos and coach (Brent) Key -- really wanted me to commit. It just felt like it was time.
"Also, with the timing, not that many people have committed yet, and it feels like a good time to go get this class rolling and for me to step into the role with some others to start being a leader in the class."
Q: Your Hewitt-Trussville teammate, Pierce Quick, an offensive lineman, is committed to Alabama. How much, if any, influence did that have on you?
"He definitely had a lot of influence. I mean, Pierce is my boy. We are always together, hanging out or on the football field together. Me and him just sticking together, he's my tackle now and he'll be my tackle in college."
Q: It's no secret about your family tie to Alabama, as Bear Bryant's great-grandson, and you even referenced it in your tweet to announce your commitment. What does it to mean to you to be going to the place where your great-grandfather had so much success?
"It's really something special to me. It's obviously a huge honor to have in my life, and really it's something cool to think about that he coached there and I'm going to have a chance to play there. It's really something special."
Q: Now that your commitment is out of the way and recruiting shuts down for you, what's next and how do you go through the summer and your 2018 high school season?
"Really, I'll keep getting on the campus at Alabama and trying to get recruits to commit and make the decision to go to Alabama, because we definitely want to make sure this class gets back on top and gets ranked No. 1 again.
"Right now, I can be recruiting with that and focus on my senior year."
