I just hope that adding Paul Tyson to the fold doesn't down the road lead to any coaching controversy.

I'm glad we got Tyson. I still hope we take one more QB, as long as he is Hawaiian and plays for Thompson

Its a lot of Bama fans that know nothing of Bear Bryant. Or rather he means nothing to them.

Four-star QB Paul Tyson commits to Alabama (BamaOnLine)

quote:

For the the first time in nearly two years, Alabama has landed a scholarship quarterback from the high school ranks. Four-star signal caller Paul Tyson committed to the Crimson Tide on Thursday over Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame.

A product of Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) and the great-grandson of Paul “Bear” Bryant, Tyson has made a name for himself over the course of the last year landing offers from over a dozen of the nation’s top programs.

The Tide officially joined the race for Tyson’s signature last December, after he threw for nearly 3,400 yards and 36 touchdowns in his first season as varsity starter, and quickly prioritized the 6-foot-4, 217-pound pocket passer.

Tyson’s latest visit to the Capstone came last month when he got to meet new quarterbacks coach Dan Enos. “I really liked him a lot,” Tyson said. “Me and him had a really good fit. He liked the style of play that I run and it just kind of fits that type of offense at Alabama. Honestly, we just connected well together. It was a lot of fun getting to meet him.”

It goes without saying that the four-star quarterback grew up a lifelong Tide fan with his family ties to the program. He didn’t choose Alabama because of that, though. “I’m going to go to the place that best fits me,” he’s repeatedly said throughout the process. “Really just a place I can help that team win a national championship. I’m looking for the best fit for me.”

Tyson is rated the No. 7 pro-style quarterback and the No. 222 overall player in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. The 247Sports Crystal Ball read in favor of the Tide at 93 percent.

Stay tuned to BamaOnLine for more on this breaking story.

BREAKING: Alabama adds commitment from former Georgia DL commit Rashad Cheney Jr.

Rashad Cheney is Bama's 5th 2019 commitment.
quote:

Rashad Cheney Jr. knew last Friday that he was going to commit to Alabama. It was just a matter of when he wanted to announce his decision, and he chose to do so on his mother’s birthday.

Cheney, a 4-star defensive tackle from Cedar Grove High School (Ellenwood, Ga.), decided that Thursday was the day he was going to publicly reveal his choice to play for the Crimson Tide. In all actuality, he posted his decision to commit to Alabama on his Instagram page on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound prospect said the main reason why he chose Alabama was because of a 30-minute conversation he had with Nick Saban last Friday.

“I really like Alabama because of all the off-the-field stuff, like academics,” Cheney told SEC Country. “They were telling me that it’s possible to graduate in 3 1/2 years. I would like to do that. Just going to a program like that will speak volumes on your name. They don’t just teach you how to play football there. They teach you how to be man. They teach you how to cook dinners and how to properly eat when you go out to eat. It’s not all about football, and that’s important.”
