Thanks, I should have remembered Dubose. I was in Graduate school at Bama at that time.

Isn't Saban seeing Nakobe Dean tomorrow night, too?

Honestly if we solidify Sanders and Neal I'll be as excited as the flips we just got. Those are two huge gets. Neal is legit one of the best OL prospects I've watched on film.

That was the latest I saw, he got the last in home. Did something change?

Probably not.
After looking at it again it appears these visits hadn't been announced previously. Dean already was.

Is it just me, or can anyone else see Kirby texting Dean later that night. “Hey, is ‘the coach on the other sideline’ still there? Can you talk? I love you...I mean we need you.”

Will the announcement by Mac30 that he is returning hurt the ILB 'cruiting? Mac sure needs to stay to help his stock, but with some good recruits, there could be less PT next year, esp with a fairly weak schedule. Lee and Dean seem to be able to push for PT from the git and Kaho and the others served their time this year and will want more time.. Will be interesting on the practice field for the next cycle

I doubt it, honestly the reason Mac and Moses struggled was the lack of experience between them and being the defensive signal caller really can mess with a linebacker. Giving our new ILB's a year to develop is a selling point, and they saw Moses play last year, if they are good enough they will see the field.

yes, they both seemed to have frozen when having to make the calls, seems that what cracked Keith Holcombe. When he tried it against Msu last year, it all but ended his career. when from playing all out to being very tentative and uncertain.

Dean is so smart that he might take someone's spot or at least split time. Calling the defense might be something he is just natural at. (Fingers crossed)

It would still freeze him, that's a ton of responsibility and requires a combination of natural instinct to still play fast while also being responsible for the defense.. Mac is a beast, give him another offseason as the signal caller and I suspect he will surprise alot of the people hating on him this year.

This is the first year we haven't had the linebackers split with one guy stepping into signal calling after a year of starting with a second playing his first year as starter in quite a while. It should be clear from how much it affected Holcombe how hard making the calls actually is.

There's a good chance that it would, but you can't say that with certainty

I agree.
Also we have lost 2 great veteran DC's. Tosh should imrpove some if the logistics of signal calling .

I absolutely can. Holcombe is by all accounts a really smart dude too, calling signals melted him down against Miss St. Could Dean come in, be the backup signal caller in practice and potentially be able to do it by the end of the season? Sure, but it's straight up foolish to think he could do it his first year on campus while getting backup reps.
