Recruiting question of the day: Which wide receivers will Alabama end up signing?

quote:

Wide receiver will be one of the most talked about position groups in Alabama recruiting as we approach National Signing Day in February.

So far, the Crimson Tide have one receiver signed in 4-star prospect Xavier Williams, and 3-star athlete Slade Bolden likely will play slot receiver when he gets to Tuscaloosa.

The names Alabama fans need to know are the ones @kitchin_gregg and @Trae1190 asked about: 4-star receivers Justyn Ross, Jacob Copeland and Jaylen Waddle. Plus, I’d also throw in 4-star prospect Justin Watkins.

I think Alabama is in good position for each of those players, but I believe Ross and Waddle will end up choosing the Tide.

Clemson is definitely in good position to land Ross, too, but I know Alabama has been gaining ground lately mainly because of defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley, who is his primary recruiter. Ansley visited Ross and his family every week during the contact period. Ansley helped Alabama lock up an in-state receiver last year in Henry Ruggs, who was leaning toward Florida State in the final hours before signing with the Tide.

As for Waddle, his recruitment has definitely gotten interesting. It seems like his decision will come down to Alabama or Texas A&M. Waddle was strongly leaning toward the Tide for several months. With Jimbo Fisher going to Texas A&M, things changed. The Aggies have a lot of momentum now. I do know that Alabama still feels good with where it stands with one of the nation’s most electrifying players. We’ll see what happens.

Who knows what Copeland is going to do. He loves the recruiting process and the attention it brings. Alabama, Florida and Tennessee now appear as the favorites.

Watkins is down to Alabama and LSU, but I don’t know if there is room for him at either school right now. I know he’s planning on making his commitment at the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 4. Will Alabama take Watkins before Copeland and Waddle, who are all recruited as slot receivers, make their decisions?

There sure is a lot of confidence on Ross coming from our mods.

When is the last time one of those national recruiting guys predicted anyone to sign with us (in their lists of the top uncommitted players)? It seems like the trendy thing to do (to pick against Bama), whether the recruits indicate that they're leaning the other way or not.

I for one will be shocked to see the top player instate sign with Alabama especially if that player is from the Auburn area....

I just wanted to state the obvious about Yancy.

But Ole Miss has suddenly made the state of Alabama a priority. Like 6-7 guys in their 2018 class alone. Freddie Roach paying dividends?

It might be because they aren't good enough to go to Auburn or Alabama this year. It's a horrid year for instate talent.

They're more Bama fans than you think in Phenix City.

I realize that. I keep up with Alabama prep talent as much as anyone. Ole Miss has never recruited Alabama this much. Just seemed odd.

A lot of it may have to do with them not being true SEC talent and Ole Miss can't get anyone else due to their sanctions.

OSU RB J.K. Dobbins was asked who he'll root for when Clemson plays Alabama in the CFP. "I’m going for Clemson. I just don’t think ‘Bama deserves to be there."

Morton Salt should look into opening a new plant in Columbus. There seems to be an endless supply of salt up in that area.

Stanford QB just completely missed a receiver that didn't have a defender covering him. Didn't even look that guys way. Wow, it was like he was invisible.
