Might go after Harold Joiner. Idk, tho. He'd need to be developed. It appears the staff likes Vernon Jackson (article) better. Joiner is 6-4/218, with a 4.76 40 time. Jackson is 6-3/240, ran a 4.7 40 (timed by us) and played QB & LB. We recruited him as a LB.

I thought he only wanted to play runningback. Love to see him though.

LSU is probably recruiting him solely as a RB in hopes to get him, but knowing they may wind up switching him to LB. Iirc, they did that with Devin White. He also has potential as a receiver or TE.

Per the articles I've read: Joiner plays RB and is good as a receiver out of the backfield. He grew from 6-3 to 6-4 this year. He wants to play RB, but knows he may outgrow RB. He's 6-4/218, runs a 4.76 40 and has a 38" vertical leap. Saban thinks he could develop into a receiver, TE or LB.

Yea they are telling him that. I don't think he'd be a good linebacker. In my opinion, his future position is TE or HB. White played linebacker and RB in high school. I don't believe Joiner plays defense at all.

White was very political about playing defense in his recruitment, he said his career would probably be longer there.

Joiner doesn't seem focused on anything but RB, which makes me question wanting someone without a defensive mentality at LB.

I agree bc I think hurts or tua would have to consider leaving if they lose in spring, then we only have two... not good

Not good, but we also can sign 2 easily next year. If Saban is confident no one transfers then we are good.

If Joiner is as soft at playing RB as people say, why does anyone think he can play LB?

It takes a certain tough attitude to play LB in the SEC, either you have the toughness or you don't. It is a mentality you are born with.

I think this is why BoScar didn’t let Saban & pals develope him into a LB. He could have been awesome with the right mentality.

I’m tired of tall RBs.

BoScar and Henry both have/had way too many shoestring tackles in the backfield.

Wow, u were tired of Henry? Good lord, I still shake my head at how wrong people were about him. People wanted him to play linebacker despite the fact he never played defense in high school. Glad our coaches do the evaluations instead of some of our fans

BoScar and Henry

These two shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath. Bo isn't half the RB that Henry was in college.

I'm actually cautiously confident....Like what I'm hearing about the players and their mindset. I think the disrespect is pissing them off. We re gonna look as close to full strength since the opening game I believe.

Once Henry got going he was great, but he got tackled behind the line way too many times.

I've seen a few people say they would take James Foster as our QB in this class.

Just curious, would anyone want him if he wasn't from the state of Alabama?
