Don't get me wrong, I'd take him, but Benito Jones should be a much higher priority given how thin we'll be and how underwhelming our DL recruiting has been recently.

If Jimbo leaves we need to put the full-court press on Robert Cooper. We BADLY need quality DL in this cycle given how thin we'll be next year.

Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Mississippi!?????? All glory to God???

Somehow I highly doubt he ends up there. Especially after the NCAA announces their findings of OM's colonoscopy

I have a solution to our 2019 thread since no one has the time to handle the entire thing themselves.

We need one person to start and update the first page.
Someone needs to bring the free 247 content and CB updates.
Another person can bring the daily SEC Country updates.
Someone can bring the Rivals' stuff.
Another can post the al.com articles.
Bleacher Report can belong to someone else.
ESPN can be someone else's responsibility.

Or some lucky soul can do it all like I have for the last 5 years.

Per SEC Country, as of now, UGA is ahead for Cooper, we have some catching up to do on his OV.

quote:

There’s only one current Florida State commitment that Alabama is still interested in and that’s 4-star defensive tackle Robert Cooper. Cooper told SEC Country that he will likely take an official visit to Alabama next month. He also recently told SEC Country that Alabama and Georgia were the only other schools he was considering. If Cooper ended up reopening his recruitment, UGA would likely be his landing spot. The Tide need defensive tackles, though, so perhaps things would change when he makes it to Tuscaloosa on that visit.

Possible targets for Alabama if Jimbo Fisher left for Texas A&M? From @hackzubbard It’s looking likely that Jimbo Fisher will take the Texas A&M job. If the Florida State job opens, there will be absolute chaos on the coaching carousel because that’s one of the best jobs in college football.

As far as targets are concerned, 5-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. has listed FSU as his No. 2 school at points throughout his recruitment. Fisher leaving would likely eliminate the Seminoles, but it seems likely Surtain is headed to LSU no matter what happens.

Alabama got a chance with Luke Ford? From @DrewChamplin This question is so well thought out that you’d think it came from a former Alabama recruiting reporter who now is the managing editor of Pumps & Systems Magazine. I do think Alabama has a chance with 4-star tight end Luke Ford. His decision will likely come down to ‘Bama, Auburn and Georgia. I think Auburn and Georgia have the advantage over Alabama because those two schools have offered a walk-on spot to his brother, Noah, a fullback, who is transferring from Southern Illinois. The Tide have not offered Noah a walk-on opportunity and may never do so. Coach Nick Saban has told the Ford family that the Tide don’t use a fullback. Luke and Noah want to play at the same school.

Dominick Wood-Anderson, a 4-star tight end from Arizona Western College (Yuma, Ariz.), is the team’s top target at the position. I expect Wood-Anderson to commit to the Tide this time around. I don’t expect him to silently commit to four different schools, tell Nick Saban the day of his commitment that he’ll be choosing the Tide, only for him to decide on a different school a few hours later

Still feel confident in Jacob Copeland and Nadab Joseph signing with Alabama? From @Alapanic I’m not as confident as I once was on Jacob Copeland, a 4-star wide receiver from Escambia High School (Pensacola, Fla.), choosing Alabama. Copeland de-committed from Florida on Saturday shortly after the end of the Iron Bowl. That was a likely decision for him after the Gators fired Jim McElwain. A day after he de-committed, the Gators hired Dan Mullen, who Copeland is a big fan of. Mullen and new wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales have already been in communication with him. He’s a big-time priority for the new Florida staff. Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who is Copeland’s primary recruiter for the Tide, met with the Under Armour All-American on Tuesday. The timing of the visit couldn’t have been better because of Pruitt being a top candidate for the Mississippi State job that was filled by Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead on Tuesday night. I’m sure Pruitt had an idea that he wasn’t going to get the job by the time he met with Copeland. Copeland is a top target for Alabama, and with Pruitt looking like he’s going to stay, I do like the Tide’s chances of landing Copeland, but Florida is going to make this tough. As far as Nadab Joseph, a 4-star cornerback from Miami (Fla.) Norland High School, I fully expect him to choose Alabama when he signs.

More competition for Alabama when it comes to Emory Jones? Recruiting changes what seems like every single day. Last weekend 4-star quarterback Emory Jones, Alabama’s top target at the position, visited Auburn. It was the second time Jones visited Auburn this month. The Tigers weren’t viewed as a legitimate threat to pull him away from Ohio State, which is where he’s committed, but maybe it’s time to include them in the mix. According to a source close to the Auburn program, the Tigers believe they have about a 50-50 chance to get Jones on board. That other 50 percent? Auburn feels like it’s in a two-team race with Alabama. The Tigers don’t believe Jones sticks with Ohio State. That mirrors what sources at Alabama have told me regarding Jones and the Buckeyes.

Alabama has felt confident that it can flip Jones from Ohio State for several months now, but if Auburn is now in the mix, would that change things? The Tigers’ quarterback room, depth-wise, is more appealing to any quarterback recruit. Auburn has Jarrett Stidham, who is draft-eligible, and freshman Malik Willis. I’ve heard that Stidham has been pegged as a potential 2nd- to 3rd-round pick in the draft this year. That could be good enough for him to leave. Auburn also has a blue-chip quarterback already committed in the 2018 class. Joey Gatewood, a 4-star prospect from Bartram Trail High School (Jacksonville, Fla.), has been committed to the Tigers for almost 2 years. I’ve heard some talk that Gatewood hasn’t progressed how the Auburn staff thought he would. This is just my opinion now, but I have certainly thought that Gatewood would be better off playing a different position. If he sticks at quarterback, he will need time to develop.

When it comes to Alabama’s quarterback situation, the Tide will have Jalen Hurts, who will be a junior, Tua Tagovailoa, a sophomore, and Mac Jones, a redshirt freshman. It’s not the most appealing situation for a 2018 quarterback recruit, but Jones has told me on multiple occasions that he doesn’t mind redshirting at whichever school he attends. I am planning on attending Jones’ high school playoff game this Friday, so I hope to have more information on where things stand at that point. But, right now, it’s looking like staff members at both Alabama and Auburn expect one of the nation’s top quarterbacks to end up in the SEC next year.

What if Alabama misses on Emory Jones? This is a question that Alabama is hoping doesn’t come true. If it does, things will become dicey. The Tide hosted Florida quarterback commit Matt Corral on an official visit during the weekend of the Mercer game. Sources close to the program told me shortly after the visit that they didn’t expect Corral to flip his commitment. Since then, Florida has hired Dan Mullen as coach. Mullen runs a spread offense and Corral is a pro-style quarterback. The new Gators coach usually adopts his offense to the quarterback he has on the roster, but it’s clear he would prefer a dual-threat quarterback.

According to Zach Abolverdi who covers Florida recruiting for us, Mullen visited 5-star quarterback Justin Fields Tuesday night. Fields, the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit, is committed to Georgia. He would be a perfect fit in Mullen’s offense. It sure is interesting that Mullen visited Fields first before traveling to California to visit the team’s current quarterback commit. I believe it’s a long shot for Florida to flip Fields from Georgia, but I think the interest in the 5-star prospect tells me that Mullen may not be 100 percent sold on Corral. There are other factors at play when it comes to Corral. He has off-field issues and his maturity level has been questioned. He left his previous high school after getting into a fight with Wayne Gretzky’s son and Southern California decided to back off on taking his commitment because of his problems off the field. The talent for Corral is there, but if he’s going to be an elite quarterback, he has to get his mind right. Alabama is keeping tabs on the Florida quarterback situation and likes Corral as a backup option to Jones.
