ATH: Slade Bolden*

Analysis: Slade Bolden committed to Alabama on Aug. 3. He likely won’t take visits elsewhere.

Confidence level: 99.9 percent

Better yet, sign Jaylen Waddle as our slot and put Slade at RB.

It's a win-win.

Is Vernon Jackson just not expected to be part of this class? He seems like a good player but it seems like we will take someone else with his spot.

From @RollTideRoll

Vernon Jackson (Boling, Texas) definitely has the skills to be a very good player at Alabama. The coaching staff loves the potential he has. Jackson is 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds. He actually plays quarterback and safety for his high school team.

Since his commitment to Alabama in September, Jackson has visited other schools. He has taken trips to Baylor, Texas and Texas A&M. Jackson also has a very close relationship with the TCU staff.

Right now, I think someone else will take his spot in this class. There are too many elite linebackers who Alabama is after this year, and spots are limited. The Tide are still after 4-star prospects Brandon Kaho and JJ Peterson. If both of those players want in, Jackson may see his spot get taken.

Do you think we get Jaylen Waddle and Justyn Ross?

From @Sammycurtis17

I think Alabama gets one of them at this time.

Jaylen Waddle, a 4-star wide receiver from Episcopal High School (Bellaire, Texas), is my pick to be in Alabama’s class. Waddle has been trending toward Alabama since the summer when he visited twice. He was back on campus for the LSU and Ole Miss games, too. It would be pretty surprising at this point if he didn’t end up choosing the Tide. I wouldn’t be shocked to learn if he has already given some indication to the staff that he’s going to choose Alabama when he publicly announces.

As far as Justyn Ross, the 4-star wide receiver from Central High School (Phenix City, Ala.), I still think Clemson is the team to beat. Every time I’ve interviewed him, it’s been obvious just how much he loves that program. He also developed a strong bond with 5-star Clemson quarterback commit Trevor Lawrence over the summer. I know from talking with people close to the Alabama program, they also believe he’s leaning toward Clemson.

Update on defensive line targets?

From @Seagrove_Beach

Christian Barmore, a 4-star defensive tackle from Neumann Goretti High School (Philadelphia), is a name to know. Alabama is expected to bring him in for an official visit after the season.

Tyler Friday, a 4-star defensive tackle from Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), has started to receive lots of attention from Alabama. The Tide are hoping to bring him on an official visit next month. He announced a top 5 of Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and UCLA earlier this month. That can always change.

Caleb Tremblay, a 4-star junior college defensive tackle from American River Community College (Sacramento, Calif.), is expected to take an official visit to Alabama next month.

Mike Williams, a 3-star prospect from Louisiana, was in Tuscaloosa for the LSU game. Alabama has started to recruit him strongly.

Andres Fox, a 3-star defensive end from Mobile (Ala.), is a major target for the Tide. I expect him to choose Alabama when he commits. The Tide also have a commitment from 4-star prospect Stephon Wynn.

Alabama is still recruiting Texas A&M commit Bobby Brown, Ohio State commit Antwuan Jackson and Auburn commit Coynis Miller, who are all defensive tackles. Miller visited Tuscaloosa for the LSU game. I don’t think there’s much of a chance he flips his commitment. With Brown, it’s becoming quite clear that this is likely Kevin Sumlin’s final season at Texas A&M. Will that be enough for him to flip to the Tide? I don’t know. Alabama continues to try to chip away at Jackson’s commitment to Ohio State.

How committed is Brenton Cox to Ohio State?

From @JackIke16

Brenton Cox, a 5-star defensive end from Stockbridge (Ga.) High School, is one of Alabama’s top Jack linebacker targets in the 2018 class. He has been committed to Ohio State since April.

The only school I’m aware of that he’s visited since then, outside of Ohio State, is Alabama. Cox visited Tuscaloosa for the Arkansas game. That was an unofficial visit. I know Alabama has really pushed to get him back on campus for an official visit. We’ll see if it happens.

As far as how committed he is to Ohio State, it seems like he’s strongly committed to the Buckeyes. He has kept the coaching staff aware of all of his planned visits to Alabama in the past, and he has canceled some of those trips at the behest of the Buckeyes staff.

All I know is that Cox has remained in contact with the Tide staff, and I know they are working on flipping him.

Amid uncertainty at Florida and the team’s struggles on offense, the leader of the Gators’ 2018 class, 4-star quarterback Matt Corral, may possibly take an official visit to Alabama this weekend for the team’s game against Mercer, a source close to the program told SEC Country.

The Crimson Tide are still looking to fill the quarterback spot in their 2018 class. Emory Jones, a 4-star prospect who’s committed to Ohio State, appears to be the likeliest option, but it’s never a certainty that a recruit will flip his commitment.

Corral, before he committed to the Gators, had a top 3 of Alabama, Florida and Georgia this summer. He told SEC Country why he was strongly considering the Tide at the time.

“Coach Daboll is one of the biggest reasons (I’m interested in Alabama),” Corral told SEC Country at The Opening Finals in July. “Him having NFL experience, for sure, gives them an advantage.”

Alabama is in an interesting spot for quarterback recruiting this year because the team is loaded with young depth. Jalen Hurts is a sophomore and Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones are freshmen. It’s not an appealing situation for an elite Class of 2018 quarterback to commit there because early playing time doesn’t look obtainable; however, Corral sees the depth as a positive.

“I feel like they would be passing down knowledge to me,” Corral said. “I know Tua (Tagovailoa). He’s a great kid on and off the field. Now that he’s getting coached under Coach Daboll and Saban, he has a lot of stuff to pass on to me. I feel like that would make me a better person on and off the field.”

Corral is rated as the nation’s No. 3 pro-style quarterback.

Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. In this edition, we talk the latest about some of Alabama’s targets who are committed to other schools.

Alabama is hoping to flip several elite recruits who are currently committed to other schools. Here are the Tide’s chances at flipping these players:

Emory Jones, 4-star quarterback, Heard County High School (Franklin, Ga.) — committed to Ohio State

Emory Jones is Alabama’s most likely flip candidate. He has visited Tuscaloosa twice this fall, not including a trip to Atlanta for the Tide’s season opener against Florida State.

“I still think there’s a good chance,” a source close to Alabama said. “It’s about his comfortability with the staff at Ohio State [for why he hasn’t flipped yet]. He’s been committed there for so long, and it’s really hard to pull that trigger and then call that program and tell them you’re not going there anymore.”

Jones has been committed to Ohio State since July 29, 2016, but it seems as if the Buckeyes are losing confidence in keeping him committed. They have offered two quarterbacks in recent weeks.

Jacob Copeland, 4-star wide receiver, Escambia High School (Pensacola, Fla.) — committed to Florida

Jacob Copeland is neck-and-neck with Emory Jones as being the likeliest players to flip from their current school to Alabama. Copeland is expected back in Tuscaloosa this weekend for the Tide’s game against Mercer. He has been a frequent visitor to Tuscaloosa this fall.

With Florida firing Jim McElwain and wide receivers coach Kerry Dixon likely not being retained, Copeland no longer will have any ties to the school. He was very close with those two coaches.

I fully expect Copeland to be in crimson in 2018.

Josh Jobe, 4-star cornerback, Cheshire Academy (Cheshire, Conn.) — committed to Miami

Josh Jobe always has been close to being included in the mock signing class for Alabama, but I finally put him in there this week. He replaces 5-star cornerback Tyson Campbell. I’ve heard that even though Jobe shows lots of love toward Miami — the school he’s committed to — on social media, he still has lots of interest in Alabama. He talks to the Tide staff almost on a daily basis.

Brandon Kaho, 4-star linebacker, Reno High School (Reno, Nev.) — committed to BYU

Alabama gained significant momentum with Brandon Kaho, according to a source close to the program, after his official visit for the LSU game. He is one of the team’s top inside linebacker targets in the 2018 class and does, in fact, have a committable offer, despite there being lots of linebacker targets out there for the Tide. He’s going to be one to closely watch.

It’s going to be tough to flip him from BYU, though, because he is a Mormon and has a spiritual connection to the school.

Antwuan Jackson, 4-star defensive tackle, Blinn College (Blinn, Texas) — committed to Ohio State

Alabama has been trying to chip away at Antwuan Jackson’s commitment to Ohio State. The Tide hosted him for an official visit for the Tennessee game. It’s going to be tough to flip Jackson away from Ohio State as he fought Auburn, the school he transferred from, to have the school not be included on his list of schools that he couldn’t transfer to.

He's around 260. Similiar situation to Vernon Jackson, best athlete playing QB.

Per AU247, Emory Jones did not visit there with any family, and Alabama still seems like the team to watch. Emory might OV at Auburn in which case they could become a player in his recruitment.

Shoot, if I were a recruit, I would have taken in the AU vs UGA game.

Was reading in the UF247 thread that Corral had contacted LSU back in September but LSU declined to bring him in.

Regardless of character concerns, how do you not bring him in if you're LSU. You've got absolutely nobody at QB, and are a QB away from competing for tSEC.
