A very sad little tiger started a thread with every"Bama hold". To be fair, most LSU fans are blasting him. It's one of the saddest things that I've ever seen.

Kind of crazy that the refs picked up I think three of the flags against them and then missed like three PIs against us but I haven't seen anyone complain about that.

Rivals 100 DL names top four

Travon Walker and Thomaston (Ga.) Upson Lee won a state title in basketball last season. The 6-foot-5, 254 pound junior defensive lineman loves hoops and he is very proud of that ring, but he knows his future is on the gridiron.

Walker will always remember basketball season as sophomore because he ended up on top, but that same time during his freshman year will stay with him too because that is when his football recruitment started.

He was offered by Georgia first, then just a couple of weeks later Alabama and Appalachian State offered the 2019 Rivals 100 talent.

With the early start, Walker has seen a lot on the recruiting trail and he has come out with his top four schools.

"My top four [schools] are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and South Carolina," said Walker. "I am blessed to have this opportunity. I have a lot of great offers, but these schools stand out most to me right now."

Over 20 schools are in pursuit of the No. 4-ranked strongside defensive end in the country. Walker stands out immediately when you see him in action. He has the size, athleticism, attitude and upside that top schools coast to coast covet up front.

He was over in Tuscaloosa Saturday and this was his first game-day experience there and third overall visit. The Crimson Tide is in this race for multiple reasons.

"It was great to see my first game over at Alabama. The crowd was great, it was a good game and I saw a lot of great players.

"Alabama really has a lot to like. If I was to go there, then I know I would get the best of football and education. They have great coaches and leaders there and they set their players up to go far.

"I really relate to a lot of the players there. It is a very competitive environment and I am a very competitive guy, so they all push each other to get better."

Walker was at Clemson for the Auburn game in September and he has been in Athens to see Georgia a couple of times this season. One thing is common about those two schools in his eyes.

"When I am at Clemson, it has the hometown feel to it," said Walker. "Clemson reminds me a lot of where I live now. It is not too small, but not too big. I like that a lot.

"Georgia is very similar. I just feel at home when I am in Athens. Clemson and Georgia really are a lot alike with how I feel when I am there."

The Tigers offered about a year after the Bulldogs and that may hurt a school's chances for some, but Walker is not one of those.

"Clemson offered me back in January 2017, so they were a little late, but that is OK. I got on their campus, I met with the coaches and we just connected.

"I really like coach [Todd] Bates (defensive line), coach V (Brent Venables, defensive coordinator) and coach Dabo Swinney. They are great guys and we have really bonded. They are the big part of why Clemson is high for me."

The in-state school has had Walker's attention since he can remember. He grew up in a Georgia home, but there is more to him having Kirby Smart's program in his top four than that.

"Georgia is playing some great football and they are building up the program in a great way. They are getting very good players, the coaches are doing a great job and I feel very comfortable when I am there.

"Georgia was my dream school growing up, so I am blessed with an offer from them, but I like a lot about Georgia. I like the atmosphere, the coaches and the feeling there."

Walker will be up in Columbia this weekend to see South Carolina host Florida. It will be is first game there. The Gamecocks have made big strides in year two under Will Muschamp and Walker has taken notice.

"I really like how South Carolina is playing right now," said Walker. "They are a young team and they are playing good. It looks like they are going to be doing some good things here soon.

"It shows what type of coaches are there and they are on the right track. When I visited there before, what really stood out to me was the support there. The players have great help academically. They really stress education and I like that."

There is still time for other schools to jump in and make a run at Walker. He made it clear that this is his top four, not final four and he is still going to examine each of his options.

For now though, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and South Carolina is where so many other schools want to be — on top.

"The recruiting process has been fun, but this is a business for me. I am searching for the best program for me. I am not ready to say these are the schools I will choose from yet, but they could be.

"I am getting closer, but I still want to take my time and be patient to make sure I do all I can to make the right choice. That is what I am working to do."

All schools are "equal" at this time said Walker.

Rewatching the game on the SEC network and Ronnie Harrison straight up robbed Guice on that interception. Like taking his lunch money.

Freshman running back Armoni Goodwin making noise in Alabama
A new name to know in Alabama is Armoni Goodwin, the breakout freshman star running back.

The above video shows sample runs of Armoni Goodwin Friday night. The class 6A Florence (Ala.) running back put up 393 yards on 35 carries against one of the top teams in class 7A, Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville in a shootout loss to cap the regular season.

The gaudy game was just the latest in what has been a breakout campaign for the speedster, who has clocked 10.78 in the 100-meter dash on the track. He had 313 yards the week before, helping the Falcons clinch a playoff berth and has topped 200 yards on the ground several times before that. Oh yea, Goodwin is a freshman.

"The season's going good, I just try to go out and help my team in the playoffs," he said. "It feels good, I like grinding more and grinding harder to get better. It's motivating me."

Many of Goodwin's runs have been long distance scores, including two of longer than 75 yards on Friday night. He says the track background has helped as he looks to become a complete back.

"I used to run and kick my butt and stuff, now I get my knees up and run straight," he said. "It's about vision and how to react, even react faster."

The Falcon coaching staff has worked to ease Goodwin into his current role as featured back considering his youth and lack of experience early in the season. With the playoffs here, he will be showcased in full force.

"I think he's the fastest kid we have," running back coach Russ Robbins said. "Right now he's got 171 touches for 1,664 yards, he has 23 touchdowns rushing, too.

"For him to be a ninth grader to be able to do that is great stuff. I've never seen a kid like Armoni before."

"It's something real special," he said. "He came in the start of the year with a lot of confidence, but you could see there were some things he wasn't sure of. But to see him progress over the last couple of weeks has been special. It shows the love he has for the game and the understanding of the game, with scheme and verbiage, compared to eight or ten weeks ago.

"His pass protection blocking, things to look for as a running back in our system, there are things set up where he has to train his eyes to look for certain things, pre-snap, for an idea where he needs to run the ball. He's getting better with what I like to call the 'what if' card, if a guy does this, I do that. He's training his eyes to see things and really developed into a downhill running back, staying inside of blocks and not just relying on speed."

Should he continue on a successful path on the field and in the classroom, college football programs will continue to take notice of the 5-foot-8, 171 pound back. Goodwin hasn't spent much time on campuses just yet, but a trio of programs currently in the top 10 have his attention very early on.

"I'll try to visit Alabama and Clemson," he said. "Also, Florida State. I went to Alabama's camp over the summer, I did good. They said they'll have their eye on me.

"I'm a fan of Florida State and Alabama. I like Alabama because they have good running backs and stuff. I like FSU because my uncle used to like them and we went down to watch them play one time, so I started liking them. I was like six years old."

Florence opens up playoff play Friday night at undefeated Pinson (Ala.) Pinson Valley.

Henry was the most accomplished HS recruit. The guy was rushing for 300+ yards regularly, and he is the national all-time rushing leader. Not the highest rated recruit we've signed, but the most accomplished as a HS player.

He would of been probably rated higher if he played in a higher class. His tape wasn't fair to watch
Caught a couple of Foster's high school games when he was a Junior at Troupe. That was a fun defense. Couple other talented guys played with him.

- Hearing Cooper likes Bama. Not sure what y'all are hearing. Think we've already filled that slot, and he's not staying at FSU.
- We feel good on Campbell
- Travon Walker is going to be a good one. Would say UGA/Bama. Kirby and Schumann's first flight to a recruit was to Sophomore David Marshall(3*) at Upson-Lee. We will lean on that and depth.
-Quay Walker - I'll check. Haven't asked a friend over there, because we were out long ago, but I'm curious now

Amazing season for a freshman. Still got a lot of growing to do, too.

Good work today everyone.

I'm in a little town called Kanab, Utah.

quote:

Locals refer to Kanab as "Little Hollywood" due to its history as a filming location for many movies and television series, prominently western, such as Stagecoach, The Lone Ranger, Death Valley Days. Gunsmoke, Daniel Boone, El Dorado, Planet of the Apes, Mackenna's Gold, Sergeants 3, WindRunner: A Spirited Journey, Western Union (1941), The Desperadoes (1943), In Old Oklahoma(1943), Buffalo Bill (1944), Westward the Women (1952), Sergeants Three (1962), Duel at Diablo (1966), Ride in the Whirlwind (1965), The Shooting (1966), and The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976).

Our staff feels out worked by Kirby.. not worried, Saban will jump some arse though after this season. Next year our staff will have to work twice as hard. Saban has relaxed alittle since his younger days on the staff’s off season work time. It use to be you work coach for Saban, you have no life but football. Lately the Bama’s name alone carried some of that work. I see kirby bringing this intensity back to Saban. It’s like bringing a new puppy into a old dogs house. The old dog will go back to a pep in his step. One of the main reasons Saban is the GOAT is his ability to adapt and adjust to change. Saban has atleast two more National Titles in him. Just my opinion

Outworked?? Thats pretty hard to believe that they outworked us for our number 1 target for the position we need the most. I think our coaching changes and UGA's riding the high right now is what has happened
