Too much of a health risk. If he is healthy at the end of the year, he'll go pro and I don't blame him.

We can worry about that later. Either way I dont want to waste a scholly on sub-par talent and the kid never see the field as a RB. Im sure in 2019 we can bring in two RB's wether Trey Sanders sticks or not

We can worry about that after our championship hopefully. I still dont want to waste a scholly on a kid who may never see the field. Im sure we can land two RB's in 2019 wether Trey Sanders sticks or not. We still have two studs who will be back next year

The WRs would be counting Bolden there should we take a RB and 4 OL was counting Brannon. My mind often runs about 100 mph and I don't always type what I am thinking.

You're prob. right, but with the NCAA allowing schools to purchase insurance for draft eligible players, it may not be that black and white. If I have a 1 million dollar injury policy and will make league minimum after being drafted in the 5th or 6th round...there's serious cause for further consideration.

Why would the school get that? You said yourself he really hasn't proven anything.

Yeah, something is weird about those Composite numbers. Anoma is considered the best pass rusher in the country now by our staff if what a few guys are saying is accurate. My eyes wouldn't disagree.

Campbell has some family in the ATL area. I have heard that this has our staff a little concerned. We feel like we have the best relationship and quickest path to playing time. Uga has the family location working for them. Two horse race right now.

When your playing the family card it can be tough to beat. Thats a guy we really need. As of right now im counting three 5 stars. Thats Campbell, Anoyma, and wait... am I missing one? A OL perhaps?

The family card didn't help Bama out with Shaun Wade last year.

Bama didn't ultimately make a run at him. Not sure if it would have made the difference or not.

The third Saturday in October meeting between Tennessee and Alabama brings plenty of intrigue to the field, but the recruiting battles can be just as exciting.

Tennessee coach Butch Jones’ job security has come into question over the past few weeks, and teams from across the country have begun trying to flip commits from the Vols’ 2018 class.

Alabama has targeted three of the better Tenessee commits. Will the Crimson Tide’s pursuit be enough to sway these Vol commits into flipping?

Cade Mays, 5-star OT, 6-foot-6, 318-pounds (Knoxville, Tenn.)

Latest from Tennessee: Mays shot panic into the hearts of Vol fans two weeks ago when he took any mention of Tennessee out of his Twitter bio. The legacy recruit has been the crown jewel of the 2018 recruiting class since his commitment in 2015. Mays is looking around at other schools for the first time in years. He’s declined to publicly comment on his recruiting, which is seen as a positive for the Vols.

Latest from Alabama: Alabama is hoping to host Mays on campus at some point this fall and take advantage of the mess that is the Tennesee program. The Crimson Tide staff feels like Mays is a can’t-miss kind of prospect. He’s been locked in with Tennessee, but with the likelihood of Butch Jones getting fired, Mays is looking around and Alabama has been in contact with him.

Jaycee Horn, 4-star CB, 6-foot, 180-pounds (Alpharetta, Ga.)

Latest from Tennessee:
Horn reaffirmed his commitment via Twitter on Oct. 2, just two days after the embarrassing 41-0 loss to Georgia. The swirling rumors regarding Jones’ job security puts the commitment in jeopardy. He has continued to listen to other schools and took a visit to Tuscaloosa last week. If Alabama became serious about Horn’s recruitment again, then the Crimson Tide would be a likely flip destination.

Latest from Alabama: This one is pretty simple: If Alabama wants Horn to be a part of its class, then he will be. He grew up a major Crimson Tide fan and is actually still one to this day, despite his commitment. He doesn’t have a committable offer from Alabama. The team will likely need to miss on a few prospects before he has the chance to commit to Alabama.

Greg Emerson, 4-star DE, 6-foot-3, 260-pounds (Jackson, Tenn.)

Latest from Tennessee:
Emerson pulled the trigger on his commitment when he attended Nike’s The Opening this summer, about five months before he originally planned. He hasn’t shown any doubt in his decision to this point, though. Other teams have continued their pursuit, but Emerson seems locked into the Vols. Emerson tweeted after the 15-9 loss to South Carolina that Tennessee is trying to build something and the 2018 class is part of the process. With Mays and Horn’s commitment appearing a tad shaky, Emerson could become the face of the class for the Vols.

Latest from Alabama: Alabama is hoping to host Emerson on an official visit, possibly this weekend. Emerson doesn’t have a committable offer, but that could change in the coming weeks with the team’s top defensive tackle target, Bobby Brown, making his commitment on Nov. 2.

Trey Sanders still locked in with Alabama

Trey Sanders has been a major reason why IMG Academy is ranked the No. 1 high school football team in the country. Through 5 games, the 2019 Alabama running back commit has 539 rushing yards, 6 touchdowns and is averaging 11.5 yards per carry.

Like current Alabama running back Najee Harris, Sanders committed to the Crimson Tide during his sophomore year at the A-Day scrimmage. It’s rare nowadays for kids to remain committed to a program for over two years, especially the top-rated recruits because nearly every major program in the country is trying to change their mind during that time.

While Sanders says schools such as Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and others still have a “legit shot” at changing his mind, the nation’s no. 3 running back n the 2019 class says he’s 100 percent locked in.

“Every time I go up there, I fall in love with them all over again,” Sanders told SEC Country. “I just like The Process and what [running backs] Coach [Burton] Burns does with the running backs. They always succeed.”

The 6-foot-1.5 215 pound prospect “fell in love with Alabama all over again” earlier this fall when he took an unannounced trip to Tuscaloosa for the Colorado State game. Sanders had a chance to visit Alabama because IMG Academy was closed due to Hurricane Irma. It was his first trip back to Tuscaloosa since the A-Day scrimmage this past spring.

“I decided to go there to talk with the coaches and get a good feeling about them again because that will most likely be my official school,” Sanders said.

That last part of his quote is important to note. Sanders is clear that he’s still young and wants to enjoy his recruitment, which is why he uses the qualifier “most likely” in front of his official school. Nothing in recruiting is official until that letter of intent is signed.

And like many recruits, the thought of having to compete with other stars for playing time is usually what scares them away from the school they’re committed to. Alabama fans won’t have to worry about that with Sanders.

“I don’t really worry about it,” Sanders said. That’s like how it is at IMG [with 2019 5-star running back Noah Cain]. “I like to compete. I don’t like being given anything. It ain’t nothing but competition.”

There will be plenty of competition by the time Sanders enrolls at Alabama in 2019 with Josh Jacobs, Najee Harris, Brian Robinson and whichever Class of 2018 running back the Tide sign this year.

One more official visitor for this weekend

Jordan Moore, a 4-star Texas A&M safety commit from Yoakum (Texas) High School, will take an official visit to Alabama this weekend for the Tennessee game. Moore will visit Tuscaloosa with his twin brother, Joshua, a 4-star Nebraska wide receiver commit.

Joshua is the more intriguing prospect for Tide fans to know. He’s being recruited as an athlete. The coaching staff feels like he can be a star on either side of the ball. Nick Saban actually FaceTimed Joshua while he was at the NFL draft. It’s something Saban does every year — whether it be a phone call or a video chat. It’s a chance for Saban to give these recruits the pitch that if they choose Alabama, they’ll be on that stage one day, too.

With how much of a mess Nebraska has been this season, Joshua is worth following — especially if you’re a recruiting nut.

Besides the Moore brothers, the official visitors we for sure know are going to Tuscaloosa this weekend are 4-star tackle Penei Sewell and 4-star defensive tackle Bobby Brown. We have been told that 4-star Ohio State quarterback commit Emory Jones will take an official visit this weekend, too, but, again, that hasn’t been confirmed just yet.

Adam Anderson committing on Thursday

Adam Anderson, the nation’s No. 2 outside linebacker from Rome (Ga.) High School, will commit to either Alabama or Georgia Thursday evening.

Anderson, a 4-star prospect, visited Tuscaloosa back on Sept. 30 for the Ole Miss game and over the summer. He’s been a major target for the Crimson Tide, but do not expect him to choose Alabama when he announces his commitment.

In fact, it would be a gigantic surprise if he chooses the Tide from what I’ve been told. If he somehow chooses Alabama, it would go down as one of the biggest surprises since I started covering Tide recruiting in 2015.

The good news for the Crimson Tide is that there are plenty of major targets at outside linebacker and Jack linebacker who are strongly considering Alabama this year. It’s a deep class at the position.

Alabama has two Jack linebackers committed in 4-star prospects Jordan Davis and Cameron Latu. The Tide are considered the favorites to land 4-star prospect Eyabi Anoma when he makes his decision. The team is also strongly in the mix for 5-star prospect KJ Henry, who’s seriously considering Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. And don’t forget about Andres Fox, a 3-star prospect from Mobile.

JJ Peterson, the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker, is expected to choose Alabama when he makes his commitment. Peterson is being recruited as an inside linebacker but definitely could play outside in college.

Auburn’s most-wanted 2018 prospects remaining at each position
quote:

Top most-wanted prospects, by position

Quarterback — Emory Jones: This almost seems impossible at this point, but the communication is still there. Jones is committed to Ohio State and has been for quite some time. With that said, I’m not ruling out a flip. It’s just that, if a flip is going to happen, it’ll be to Alabama. Jones has visited the Crimson Tide three times already this fall, and he could be taking an official visit for a fourth. This is a pipe dream after the Justin Fields commitment to Georgia.

Running back — James Cook: Auburn has worked tirelessly to get Cook on a visit throughout the spring, summer and fall. On every occasion, the Tigers have been unable to do so. Meanwhile, Georgia has hosted him twice, including on an official visit. I’d still expect Cook to take an official visit to Auburn before making any kind of final decision, but Georgia’s going to be a tough beat, if not impossible.

Wide receiver — Justyn Ross: I have my Crystal Ball for Clemson, but there’s a ton of time between now and decision day, which will likely be National Signing Day in February. There is plenty of reason for the Tigers to find optimism with Ross. He’s visited Auburn more than anywhere else, and it’s not close. Sure, that has a lot to do with his Phenix City, Ala., proximity to Auburn, but he’s visiting regularly. His last two visits have been back-to-back weeks with his family, who Ross says feels more comfortable at Auburn than anywhere else.

Tight end — Luke Ford: Here’s another one that’s going to be a tough sell. Ford visited with the family this summer and always said he wanted to come back. But Alabama and Georgia are his top two, and obviously those two programs are playing at the highest of levels right now. On top of that, his relationship with Justin Fields revved up Georgia’s chances when the 5-star quarterback committed. That might’ve been Auburn’s best shot at Ford, landing Fields. Instead, the Tigers have, yet again, not utilized the tight end position in a way most prospects would like.

Offensive line — Trey Hill: Hill, in my mind, will come down to Auburn and Georgia. It’s too early to rule out Southern Cal, Clemson, Florida State and others just yet — considering Hill won’t ever rule anyone out until he commits. With that said, Hill has popped up in Athens, Ga., or Auburn, Ala., for almost every game week of the season so far, which seems to be a telling sign of where things are trending. At Georgia, he has the recruiting friendships and his strong relationship with offensive line coach Sam Pittman. At Auburn, he has the laid-back family style and the easier access to playing time. How Hill formulates his decision will make or break Auburn fan happiness.

Defensive line — Richard Jibunor: Some might consider him more of a linebacker than a defensive lineman, but I place Jibunor here for two reasons. One, most of the sources I’ve talked to expect Jibunor’s body to develop into what Auburn would want from its Buck edge rusher position. On top of that, Rodney Garner has played a key role in Jibunor’s recruitment (though so has Travis Williams). Jibunor’s decision is about a month or more away. Tennessee seems like a tough place to commit to right now. Florida has been standing out in Jibunor’s mind. But when it’s all said and done, I think Auburn’s the choice.

Linebacker — Quay Walker: This would go a long way in terms of recruiting confidence for the program. Auburn has already beaten out Alabama for Asa Martin and Coynis Miller. But how big would it be if the Tigers could flip Crimson Tide commit Quay Walker? It would be massive. It’s still a little too early to tell here, but the fact Walker has visited multiple times this fall is telling. It may not be enough to flip, but it’s certainly making him think about it.

Cornerback — Christian Tutt: 247Sports reported Tutt’s intention to take an official visit. With so much uncertainty at cornerback, it’s tough to peg the top want, but Tutt appears to be it. He once had a top group of Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State and Georgia, but he backed off. He might take an official visit to a few of those schools, but if he makes it to Auburn, I like the Tigers’ chances.
