Where Alabama turns after Saturday
The Crimson Tide will continue recruiting Miller after his decision, and the 4-star prospect did say that he still plans on taking visits to other schools after his commitment, so Alabama will still have a chance to sign him — albeit a small one.
With Miller likely Auburn bound, here are other DTs to keep an eye on:
quote:
Bobby Brown, 4-star prospect, Arlington, Texas
Brown is Alabama’s top defensive tackle target in the 2018 class. He visited Tuscaloosa over the summer, and Brown strongly hinted to SEC Country at the time that the Crimson Tide was his top team.
Brown hasn’t returned to Tuscaloosa since the summer, and that has allowed schools such as Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma to make up ground. He will return to Alabama next weekend for the team’s game against Tennessee. I fully expect the coaching staff to put the full-court press on Brown that weekend ahead of his Nov. 2 commitment date.

quote:
Caleb Tremblay, 4-star JUCO prospect, Sacramento, Calif.
Tremblay emerged as a main target for the Tide over the summer when he balled out at one of the team’s OL/DL camps. He is planning on taking an official visit to Tuscaloosa on Dec. 15. It’s the only visit he has set right now.
That’s an important date to be aware of because the signing period is on Dec. 20. I expect Tremblay to choose Alabama when he commits.

quote:
Robert Cooper, 4-star prospect, Snellville, Ga.
Cooper is committed to Florida State, but he recently told SEC Country that he’s also considering Alabama and Georgia. There have been some rumblings that he may reopen his recruitment soon.

quote:
Keondre Coburn, 4-star prospect, Houston
Coburn visited Tuscaloosa back in late July but decided to commit to Texas just a few weeks later. He has maintained communication with the Alabama staff and will return to campus on Nov. 4 for an official visit.

quote:
Greg Emerson, 4-star prospect, Jackson, Tenn.
Don’t be surprised to see the Tennessee commit take an official visit next weekend for the Tide’s game against the Volunteers. There was some interest on Alabama’s end before he committed to Tennessee in July, but the coaching staff wasn’t strongly pursuing him.
I fully expect Tennessee to get blown out next weekend in what could possibly be Butch Jones’ last game as the Vols’ coach. That could open up the door for ‘Bama if it goes for the flip with Emerson.

quote:
Jalen Cunningham, 3-star prospect, Odenville, Ala.
Cunningham wants to commit to Alabama, but he’s still waiting on receiving a committable offer. If he gets one — and it’s possible if the Tide strike out on Miller and Brown — he will be a part of this class.

quote:
Jeffery Johnson, 3-star prospect, Brookhaven, Miss.
Johnson told me recently that his top 3 consists of Alabama, Florida State and Ole Miss. His likely landing spot is Ole Miss, but, like Cunningham, that will likely change if the Alabama staff extends a committable offer.

I'll be honest. I have no clue how to project our DL class. Not for the same reason as some of the fretters. But there are several names we're in on and I don't even begin to have a clue how it will go down, or how many we ultimately sign (4 or 5?).
Still feel good about Bobby Brown, although I've seen it confirmed from someone on my end that A&M is making a big push for he, Waddle, and Vernon Jackson.
Other than that, there are so many ways that it could play out that I don't have much of a clue.

I don't see Cooper's weight being an issue, he carries it very well now.
When he gets into a college conditioning program, he'll drop 20 pounds quick.

Which did not help with our performance against them which helped Sumlin and demonstrated aTm they are headed in the right direction

BTW anyone have any updates on Hulk Jones? A friend of mine(Oregon alum) says they offered in the spring and showed me a picture of Hulk and Otis the Pimp(Now the DC at CLCC(where the Hulk went). He says some insider think the Hulk will be heading there next year, but he did not play last year and a lot of hype for him this fall including pics of him in uniform in August but he is not listed on their roster this fall.

Someone asked about him on BOL this morning and Hank said Alabama has no interest in extending him an offer.

Hank South CB'd Caleb Tremblay to Alabama.

Like I mention he is not listed on the roster or playing this season.

He didn't play anywhere last season either. His fall from 5-star player to never playing a down of college football is pretty damn sad.

Especially after seeing reports in the spring how he lost a lot of bad weight and looked ready to go this fall.

I think we'll shore up Bobby Brown when he visits next weekend. He commits on Nov. 2 (I think), so it won't be much longer.
A&M is now realizing how much of a beast Vernon Jackson is. The rest of the country somehow slept on him. We got the jump on everyone, having gotten to see him dominate at our camp.

Great to hear! Anybody know what his current weight is? He's usually listed about 275. Would be nice to see him come in (if we get him) at 285-290. Big enough to play the run in our system, but also able to keep his speed.

No idea, but his JUCO coach was a graduate assistant at Nebraska when Adam Carriker and Ndamonkug Suh were there and he says Tremblay is on their level talent-wise.
