West Monroe took just three plays before quarterback Slade Bolden made one defender miss in the backfield and spun past another for the go-ahead score.

With a 21-14 lead, West Monroe forced a punt with less than six minutes remaining in the game. A fresh Bolden, who had only six carries entering the drive, took the field determined to pull away from Ruston. Bolden rushed for 66 yards on the drive, including a 36-yard score, to give West Monroe a 14-point lead with three minutes remaining.

The Rebels used Bolden like a closer with the game on the line late in the fourth quarter.

“When the game is on the line, we know that he likes to have the ball in his hand,” West Monroe offensive coordinator Glenn Hunt said. “Upfront we did a much better job in the fourth quarter, and we made some adjustments with our receivers that helped out.”

Following the game, Bolden welcomed the challenging games like the one he just played in. “You can never have too many tough games,” Bolden said. “That better prepares you for the road ahead. We needed another game like that. It always helps.”

Thanks for bringing that here.

We are trying to get rid of some stuff before we move so we are having a garage sale today. My usual Saturday morning posting barrage had to take a back seat.

Alabama put an offer on the table for 2019 four-star outside linebacker Marcel Brooks on Friday, the Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus product announced on Twitter.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Brooks holds nearly two dozen offers from the likes of Florida, LSU, Ohio State, and Texas.

The Crystal Ball favors TCU at 50 percent, followed by Texas at 33 percent, with the remainder of picks being foggy.

Brooks is rated the No. 4 outside linebacker and the No. 42 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

So to summarize the Miller situation:

Key is the Birmingham area recruiter.

So was Cristobal before him. Bo Davis was still involved with line prospects before leaving.

Alabama commit Jalyn Armour-Davis didn't do anything special in his return from injury for St. Paul's on Friday night.

But just playing was enough.

Armour-Davis and the Class 5A No. 2 Saints made two red zone stands in the final six minutes and held off Region 1 rival Jackson 17-6 to remain undefeated.

"Jalyn showed a lot of courage just being out there," St. Paul's coach Steve Mask said. "He had knee surgery two weeks ago. He didn't do anything special, but just his presence is big. Having a guy like that on the field is a big advantage."

Armour-Davis, a four-star cornerback, injured his right knee in St. Paul's 9-6 win over Williamson on Sept. 15. He had his knee scoped three days later.

He missed the Saints' 34-14 non-region win over Dothan on Sept. 22. St. Paul's was idle last week, giving him another week to rest and heal.

"I feel like myself, like nothing ever happened," Armour-Davis said. "I had limited reps this week in practice and kind of had to shake off the nerves tonight. But it was all good once I got out there."

Armour-Davis did not handle punt returns as he normally does. Senior Jarrett Eaton filled in for him there. He also played sparingly on offense where he is a key weapon for the Saints.

However, he did play the entire game at his normal cornerback spot, and his team needed him to repel two late Jackson drives. Was Armour-Davis 100 percent?

"I don't know. I was just ready to get out there," he said. "It's hard to sit out and watch your teammates play without you. I wanted to try to get back in there and help them any way I could."

St. Paul's tailback Jordan Ingram, who injured a shoulder against Williamson, also returned on Friday and had a productive night on the ground.

"It's a huge help to get both those guys back," senior quarterback Swift Lyle said. "We need them both for the second-half of this season if we are going to accomplish our goals."

Can Joiner be a more polarizing prospect, especially with his play?

He belongs at LSU.

I mean he's wonderful. He has 4.2 speed and looks like D. Henry.......

As big as he is you'd think he'd be averaging 200 yards a game, but this is the second or third time he's been held under 100 this season.

Speaking of crappy performances last night, Al.com didn't even list Seth Williams in their article on the Paul Bryant game.

Their QB only threw for 68 yards.

It's amazing how times have changed. We ran a version of the wing-T and 68 passing yards was us really opening things up

Coaches saving him maybe? Slade had 6 carries on the night going into the last drive. Maybe they just want to stay healthy. I can appreciate that.

I just get the feeling he's one of those players Bama wants so another team can't have him.
