Alabama linebacker commit Jordan Davis is officially an Under Armour All-American after a ceremony at his high school on Thursday.
Davis, along with Tommy Brown, Xavier Williams, Stephon Wynn are the current Alabama representatives for Jan. 4th's all-star game.
The four-star linebacker from Memphis (Tenn.) Southwind is the Tide's longest-tenured commitment in the 2018 class, joining the fold last December after receiving an offer during his visit for the Iron Bowl.
Davis has been one of the Tide's most vocal recruiters in the class. Recently, he shared with BamaOnLine why he thinks, despite what the ranking may show, Alabama's 2018 class is going to be special.
"It might not be a lot of us this year, but that's not hurting a thing because we put in that work," he said. "Why I say that? Because everybody don't have a chance to receive a D-1 scholarship from Bama, and if you do get the chance and take it, you're putting yourself in a better position by just first saying you're committed. And once committed, you're committing yourself to a dynasty."
At 6-foot-5, 238 pounds, Davis is rated the No. 11 weak-side defensive end and the No. 219 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Derrick Ansley is watching JUCO CB Saivion Smith in his game tonight.
Posted on 9/8/17 at 12:50 am to TideSaint
We actually may need savion smith next season if he commits to us. We are going to be thin at DB next year. Specifically corner. I think Daniel wright would make a good corner. Savion Smith and Wright at corner if Diggs can't figure it out. Shyheim at star. Thompson McKinney at safety.

I think Diggs and Knott will be the only true corners on the team next year.

I think the only way Smith isn't in the class is if he absolutely falls on his face this season.
Hell, Bama needs bodies there...

Here are the 5 likeliest recruits to commit to Alabama
quote:
Vernon Jackson, 3-star ATH, Boling (Boling, Texas)
Vernon Jackson was supposed to make his commitment last month but ultimately delayed it because of Hurricane Harvey. There’s no set date for when Jackson will announce his decision, but it should be in the coming weeks.
Even with the delay, that shouldn’t matter one bit to Alabama’s chances of landing Jackson, who’s being recruited as an inside linebacker by the Crimson Tide staff.
The Crimson Tide started looking like Jackson’s eventual pick after a trip to Tuscaloosa last month. He stayed on campus for three days, which was his first time visiting the school. He loved it.
“He went there this summer and felt that connection with the staff,” Boling coach Kevin Urbanek said. “I think when he went there this summer that he got that feeling, and we always talk with coaches about what he’s looking for in schools. He’s looking for that place where he just knows like he belongs. I think that was the thing with him when he went there.”

Jalen Cunningham, 3-star DT, St. Clair County High School (Odenville, Ala.)
These next few weeks could impact the rest of Jalen Cunningham’s life.
Cunningham was told by the Alabama coaching staff that, depending on how he performs these next two weeks, he could possibly receive a committable offer.
That’s important because if he does, he’ll be a Crimson Tide commit soon after.
“Everybody knows I probably will,” Cunningham said when asked if he’d commit if given the green light. “It’s more than likely that I will. That’s my team. Alabama has been my favorite team my entire life. They’re my favorite coaching staff. It would be a great opportunity for me and I know they would build me for the future.”
With this being a down year at defensive tackle, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Cunningham receive the offer he wants.

Nadab Joseph, 4-star CB, Miami Norland (Miami Gardens, Fla.)
Nadab Joseph tweeted on Wednesday that he’s getting close to making a commitment. If that’s the case, Alabama will be the likely choice. He visited Atlanta for Alabama’s season opener against Florida State.
Ever since Joseph de-committed from LSU a month ago, Alabama has been viewed as the favorite to land his next commitment. Joseph, who’s one of Alabama’s top cornerback targets in the 2018 class, took a surprise visit to Tuscaloosa in July. It was his second trip to Alabama in as many months.
One interesting factor for Alabama’s chances with Joseph is the fact that his legal guardian is one of Tide safety Ronnie Harrison’s cousins. Harrison and Joseph have a very strong bond. When Joseph visited last week, he spent a lot of time with Harrison. He’s also close with Deionte Thompson.

JJ Peterson, 4-star LB, Colquitt County (Moultrie, Ga.)
The only thing that has changed about JJ Peterson’s recruitment in the past several months is who his No. 2 school is. At different points, that spot has been occupied by Auburn, Georgia and Oregon. Back in July at The Opening, it was Oregon. Now, it’s Auburn.
Alabama holding the top spot in his recruitment has been the only constant with Peterson, a 4-star linebacker from Colquitt County High School (Moultrie, Ga.). The Crimson Tide have led for at least six months.
It seems like the U.S. Army All-American is going to take official visits before making a decision. Alabama likely will get one, and Auburn, too. He doesn’t know with 100 percent certainty because he’s visited both of those schools numerous times. The only schools he mentioned that will definitely receive an official visit this fall are Michigan and Oregon.
The nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, wasn’t clear why he hasn’t just committed to Alabama already if the team has been No. 1 for him for several months, but it would be a surprise if he ended up choosing any other team not named the Crimson Tide.

quote:
Caleb Tremblay, 4-star DT, American River CC (Sacramento, Calif.)
Alabama likes to target junior college defensive linemen, and this year is no different. The Crimson Tide have signed at least one junior college defensive lineman dating back to the Class of 2014.
Caleb Tremblay is the top pick to fill that role this year. Tremblay has one official visit set, and that’s to Alabama on Dec. 15.
