He was pissed when they wouldn't let him transfer directly to OSU. It was a limit on any SEC schools, OOC schools they are playing the next 3 years, and Ohio State.

May be a battle to watch over the next few months.

Go to Bama to win a championship; but Bama/Saban isn't going to cater to someone who wants to come in as #1. He wants players to compete.

So, probably bad news.

Have Alabama football recruiting questions? We’ve got answers. Join us every Wednesday for the SEC Country Alabama recruiting mailbag to discuss Crimson Tide recruiting.

This week, we discuss Alabama’s main targets in the secondary, if Christian Miller’s and Terrell Lewis’ injuries hurt the team on the recruiting trail, Tanner McKee and more.

Let’s get to your questions.

Looks like we will need some defensive back help after this season. Will we get it?

From @kitchin_gregg

Absolutely. There will not be a repeat of the 2017 class.

Alabama didn’t sign any true corners in the 2017 class, which is important to note when you look at the current roster right now. Anthony Averett, Tony Brown, Levi Wallace and likely Minkah Fitzpatrick, who could play corner, will be gone after this season.

The only corners on the roster next season, who are capable of playing on the outside, are Trevon Diggs and Nigel Knott. That’s it. Shyheim Carter and Kyriq McDonald are nickel backs, meaning they would play inside.

So, DB recruiting, especially at corner is critical for Alabama in the 2018 class.

The Tide are strongly in the race for 5-star corner Tyson Campbell. If I was offering up a prediction now, I think he signs with ‘Bama. The same could be said for former LSU CB Saivion Smith, who is now at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. I also think 4-star CB Nadab Joseph will choose the Tide when he commits. I wrote about him on Tuesday. Alabama also has a commitment from 4-star CB Jalyn Armour-Davis.

So, I think the team’s DB haul right now would be Campbell, Smith, Joseph and Armour-Davis. That’s an elite group of defensive backs.

Do you think the injuries we sustained (Christian Miller, Terrell Lewis) will affect our DE recruiting?

From @michaelmore41

This is a very good question, Michael.

Both Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis suffered season-ending injuries in the Florida State game last Saturday. Miller suffered a torn bicep while Lewis tore a ligament in his elbow. Lewis will redshirt this year while Miller will have to apply for a medical redshirt to gain eligibility for his 6th year. It’s not a guarantee that he’ll be granted one.

With that being said, the injuries will allow freshmen the opportunity to earn significant playing time, which is always closely watched by high school seniors. Whenever I talk with recruits, the majority of them say early playing time and the possibility of playing as a freshman is what’s most important to them. Though, there’s a double-edged sword to that. If those freshmen at the positions they play at the programs they are considering do well, it’s likely that early playing time won’t be there for them.

Chris Allen and Dylan Moses are the freshmen to watch now that Miller and Lewis are out. I expect them to get lots of snaps moving forward.

Now, how will that affect DE recruiting you ask? I think you mean Jack linebacker, which is a hybrid of defensive end and outside linebacker.

It really shouldn’t affect Alabama much on the recruiting trail because there are so many targets at the positon who are strongly considering the Crimson Tide. They already have two Jack linebackers committed in Jordan Davis and Cameron Latu. The team is in good position to land 5-star prospect KJ Henry and 4-star prospect Eyabi Anoma. Alabama also remains in the thick of it for 5-star prospect Micah Parsons, who we’ll talk about below, and 3-star prospect Andres Fox.

There are lots of linebacker possibilities for Alabama this class, so they’ll be fine regardless if Allen or Moses emerge as a possible starter.

When do you think ‘Bama will really go after Tanner McKee?

From @swaggyd_1

They’re after him right now. Tanner McKee, a 4-star quarterback from Centennial High School (Corona, Calif.), is one of Alabama’s top targets in the 2018 class.

Alabama hasn’t landed a quarterback commitment in this class just yet. McKee and Ohio State commit Emory Jones look like the likeliest options out of the top-tier quarterbacks in this class.

McKee will take an official visit to Tuscaloosa on Nov. 4 for the LSU game. Remember, McKee is essentially a Class of 2020 prospect because he will complete a 2-year Mormon mission after graduating from high school. That hasn’t stopped Alabama or any other school from prioritizing him.

McKee told me in July that he talks to offensive coordinator Brian Daboll multiple times per week and chats frequently with Nick Saban himself, too. Alabama is in good shape here, but Stanford seems like it will be the choice for McKee when he commits.

In your opinion, how important is Micah Parsons to the coaching staff? How much do you think they are really pursuing him?

We’ll start with your first question on Parsons.

The 5-star defensive end from Harrisburg (Pa.) High School is one of the best high school football players in the country. He’s just dominant. He plays running back, defense and special teams for his school. He excels everywhere you put him. So, he’s a very important target to the coaching staff and the team is strongly pursuing him. He’s expected to take an official visit to Tuscaloosa this fall.

Also, on a scale from 1-10, with 10 being very likely, what chance would you give the Tide of landing either KJ Henry OR Emory Jones?

As for the second part of your question, I would put that at a 4 as of now. I’m leaning toward Jones sticking with his Ohio State commitment. I just think it’s too early to be that confident.

I think there’s a 50-50 shot between Alabama and Clemson to land 5-star defensive end KJ Henry. I’m leaning toward Clemson right now. Getting Henry back on campus this fall, which Alabama will, will be important.

Alabama started off the month of August hot reeling in three commitments, boosting the Crimson Tide's class to No. 28 in the country, per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

With Asa Martin opting for Auburn over Alabama and Clemson, and Vernon Jackson postponing his commitment indefinitely following Hurricane Harvey, the Tide ended the month with just the trio of new names hopping on board.

As official visit season kicks off and recruiting picks back up following the August dead period, September and October could be busy months for Alabama recruiting.

Here's a look at five recruits that could commit to Alabama next.

ATH Vernon Jackson

Jackson would be my pick as most likely to commit next. The three-star athlete from Boling, Texas had a commitment date set for Aug. 26, but had to postpone it due to Hurricane Harvey. The postponed date of Sept. 2 also didn't work after flooding hit southeast Texas. While Jackson has yet to set a new commitment date, the Tide continues to be in strong position to add him to the class.

CB Nadab Joseph

Joseph made it clear that Alabama's offer over the summer gave him something to think about regarding his commitment status to LSU. The four-star cornerback backed off the pledge to the Tigers last month, and while he's only gone as far as naming a top five -- Alabama included -- the Tide looks to be the trending team to land his next commitment. The Miami native was in Atlanta for UA's season-opener and plans to officially visit Tuscaloosa for the LSU game.

DT Caleb Tremblay

In a recent interview with BamaOnLine, Tremblay said he only had one official visit planned and that was to Alabama in mid-December. The American River C.C. product may take some other visits to programs he's interested in like Washington, Georgia, and Oregon, but with a busy schedule this fall it's not clear when those could occur. Alabama offered Tremblay over the summer at camp, as it looks to bolster its defensive line with immediate impact-type players. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder said he hopes to have his mind made up prior to his Alabama official visit.

OT Penei Sewell

Sewell was another prospect set to make a commitment prior to his senior season, but upon discovering a torn labrum in his shoulder, recruiting went on the back burner for the Top50 lineman, according to his father. The four-star tackle has not named a leader, but Alabama certainly seems to have made a major impression on his June visit. Oregon is the other school in play, and the latest Crystal Ball pick after a July visit to Eugene.

WR Jaylen Waddle

Waddle plans on releasing his top schools on Sept. 17, beyond that it's not clear as to when he plans on making a decision. The main schools in play to this point have been Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, Texas, and Texas A&M. As BOL has reported in recent weeks, the Tide has taken a big step forward after the Aggies looked to have somewhat of a grasp on things. Waddle was in attendance for Bama's opener against FSU. He also camped twice in Tuscaloosa this past summer, making it three visits to the Capstone throughout his recruitment thus far with an official visit on deck.

If you're going to be playing Hand at "OLB" you may as well call it a 4-3 defense for a while.

I'm excited to see Chris Allen and Vandarius Cowan take the field. They both seem to be mean as hell on the field. We need a few dogs on this defense.

I watched interviews with the Dline last year(Think it was Ryan Anderson), and they said Hand was the quickest guy in that position group.

Give her a go.
