Xavier Williams finished with 4 rec 80 yds & 2 TDs last night though his & Shaun Shivers team got beatdown by James Cook's Miami Central squad. Miami Central is 6A & Chaminade-Madonna is 3A so not a huge surprise

The guy we're likely going to get Saturday has me as excited as anybody that has committed so far. Vernon Jackson is going to be a star.
Vernon Jackson has postponed his commitment.

Boling (Texas) athlete Vernon Jackson has postponed his commitment announcement until Saturday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. CT due to Hurricane Harvey, Bulldogs head coach Kevin Urbanek tells BamaOnLine.
The southeast Texas town is expecting a good amount of rain throughout the weekend from the storm, creating unsafe conditions for people traveling to Jackson's ceremony, which was originally planned for tomorrow.
Alabama, Texas A&M, and TCU are still the expected finalists for the three-star athlete, who the Tide is recruiting as a linebacker.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder is rated the No. 27 athlete, and the No. 465 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
Alabama is the 100 percent favorite on the Crystal Ball.

I still think we land him, but I thought it was funny.

Friday night at 7 p.m. (ESPNU) gets things rolling with No. 4 Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco traveling to No. 5 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas.
Need To Know: Bosco is the CIF Southern Section Division I defending state champions while Aquinas is fresh off another 7-A title in Florida. Iowa State quarterback commit Re-al Mitchell leads the California powerhouse, where last fall he threw for 3,011 yards and 31 touchdowns with another 1,090 rushing yards and 16 more scores. In this one he’ll face perhaps the best secondary in the country as Aquinas runs out a pair of Top100 2018 cornerbacks in Miami commit Al Blades Jr. and Florida State-bound Asante Samuel Jr. along with one of the best in the 2019 class, Jaden Davis. Louisville-bound safety Trenell Troutman will also be roaming around the defensive backfield.
More Notables: Bosco has close to 30 players holding a Division-I scholarship led by Ohio State safety commit Jaiden Woodbey (No. 3 ranked safety). Woodbey's classmates include UCLA four-star safety commit Stephan Blaylock, Arizona State running back pledge Demetrious Flowers and Washington State-bound linebacker Kedron Williams. The junior class is loaded as well including cornerback Chris Steele, receiver Josh Delgado, defensive tackle Suaava Poti and offensive lineman Marist Talavou all checking in as Top247 recruits.
Florida’s defending state champion Aquinas isn’t hurting for big-time recruits as well. Four-star linebacker Nik Bonitto (Louisville is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite) and Louisville defensive tackle commit Dejmi Dumervil Jean are seniors in the front seven. They also have two more 2019s ranked inside the Top247 in running back Daniel Carter and linebacker Anthony Solomon.

Friday night at 9 p.m. (ESPN) No. 13 Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha at No. 2 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman
Need To Know: Defending National Champions Bishop Gorman brings in a 54-game winning streak, while DeMatha has won four straight league championships on the other side of the country. UCLA Top247 quarterback commit Dorian Thompson-Robinson was highly recruited for the Gaels but makes his first start under center after waiting his turn and playing receiver as Ohio State freshman Tate Martell was leading the charge en route to National Gatorade Player of the Year honors. Meanwhile the Stags have a rookie starter of their own in senior Tyler Lenhart who replaces Air Force's Beau English. Lenhart has Division-I interest and hopes to land an offer with a strong final campaign.
More Notables: The nation’s No. 1 inside linebacker, USC commit Palaie Gaoteote, leads the Gorman defense, while Thompson-Robinson will certainly look for the America’s No. 3 tight end Brevin Jordan (committed to Miami) and Arizona State commit Jalen Nailor as his playmakers. Highly recruited offensive lineman Jacob Isaia anchors the hogmollies up front.
DeMatha has one of America’s top running backs regardless of grade in 2020 standout Marshawn Lloyd (247Sports ranks as the nation’s No. 1 RB and No. 9 player overall). Other key players include Maryland commits in Top247 defensive tackle Austin Fontaine and four-star offensive guard Evan Gregory. Two Pitt commits also take the field in defensive end John Morgan and cornerback Judson Tallandier. The Stags' most sought-after 2019 prospect is athlete DeMarcco Hellams.

Saturday at noon (ESPN) Tulsa (Okla.) Union at Broken Arrow (Okla.) High
Need To Know: Defending state champ Union ranks No. 1 in the state by MaxPreps while host Broken Arrow checks in at No. 15.
More Notables: Oklahoma State Top247 receiver commit CJ Moore along with Oklahoma pledges in defensive lineman Jordan Kelley and safety Patrick Fields lead state power Union while 2019 running back Darius Boone is another to keep an eye on. Broken Arrow’s big-name recruit is 2020 Andrew Raym who 247Sports ranks as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the country.

At least it's a good reason. I was worried when I first saw the news. Weather is going to be pretty bad around Houston this weekend, so it makes sense to postpone.

Saturday at 7:30 (ESPN2) Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail at Cartersville (Ga.) High
Need To Know: Led by Clemson quarterback commit/No. 2 overall player in the country Trevor Lawrence, Cartersville is ranked by MaxPreps as the No. 3 team in Georgia and has won two straight state championships. Meanwhile Bartram Trail is billed by MaxPreps as the No. 19 team in Florida.
More Notables: Bartram Trail has two Division-I quarterbacks in the senior class led by the nation’s No. 3 athlete in Auburn commit Joey Gatewood along classmate Riley Smith, who has garnered a ton of mid-major and Ivy League interest. 2019 running back Devin Ellison has Power Five offers as well. For Cartersville, 2018 linebacker JaCorey Johns, 2019 tight end Jackson Lowe and 2019 defensive end Isaiah Chaney are a few other headliners.

Saturday at 10:30 (ESPNU) No. 3 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy at No. 14 Chandler (Ariz.) High
Need To Know: A year ago IMG finished No. 2 nationally behind Bishop Gorman. They currently have 61 former players on FBS rosters and this looks like their most talented football team yet, led by the best defensive line in the country. Meanwhile Chandler is the defending 6-A state champs in Arizona.
More Notables: IMG's defense is special and it begins up front with the nation’s No. 1 defensive end (five-star Clemson commit Xavier Thomas) and top-ranked defensive tackle (five-star Ohio State commit Taron Vincent). That's the tip of the iceberg for a group that also includes Alabama Top247 defensive end commit Stephon Wynn, Georgia Tech-bound defensive tackle TK Chimedza and a top five player in the 2019 class in Georgia defensive end verbal Nolan Smith. The second level of the defense includes Texas' Top247 linebacker commit Ayodele Adeoye, Clemson commit Mike Jones Jr., Top247 2019 recruit Mikel Jones and 2019 Michigan verbal Charles Thomas. The secondary is paced by future Nebraska cornerback Brendan Radley-Hiles and cornerback/safety Houston Griffith.
On offense IMG also boasts the best backfield in America led by Oklahoma commit T.J. Pledger and a pair of ballyhooed 2019s — Noah Cain and Alabama commit Trey Sanders, who rank No. 1 and No. 3 nationally at the position, respectively. Miami quarterback commit Artur Sitkowski and future Hurricanes receiver Brian Hightower are also suited up while receiver Jalen Jordan is one of the program’s more intriguing lesser-known prospects. On the offensive line you’ll see Florida State commit Verdis Brown, Florida commit Curtis Dunlap, Top247 offensive tackle Reuben Unije, the No. 5 offensive guard in the country in 2019 in Evan Neal and Alabama 2019 verbal Deyavie Hammond.
And IMG actually has more guys than that.
Meanwhile for the home team, Chandler 2019 quarterback Jacob Conover is one of the West’s best and holds six early offers including Alabama. He threw for 3,715 yards and 32 touchdowns to just five interceptions last fall. His top target is BYU receiver commit Gunner Romney.

Saturday at 3:30 (ESPNU) Saraland (Ala.) High at Franklin (Ga.) Heard County
Need To Know: The quarterbacks are why this ballgame is on national television as neither team is ranked inside the Top50 of their respective states by MaxPreps. Saraland is led by 247Sports’s No. 8 ranked pro-style passer in Stanford commit Jack West while Ohio State bound signal-caller Emory Jones is the nation’s No. 3 dual-threat guy taking snaps for Heard County.

Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne plays at Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland.
Need To Know: The nation’s No. 4 athlete L'Christian Smith will make his college decision and Ohio State is the heavy 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for the receiver target. Smith leads a Wayne team that MaxPreps bills No. 7 in Ohio while Pine-Richland checks in at No. 8 in Pennsylvania.
More Notables: Kentucky defensive end commit Alex Reigelsperger also suits up for Wayne while Pine-Richland’s star is the nation’s No. 5 dual-threat quarterback in Notre Dame commit Phil Jurkovec.

One last note on Asa Martin that I've been pondering the last few minutes or so.
We heard both his coach and recruiting analysts say he hadn't tipped anyone off as to his commitment, yet everyone was leaning Auburn the last 24 hours before he announced.
How does that happen if he never talked to anyone about it?

The recent updates from the industry to the 2018 247Sports Composite rankings that resulted in a move up to No. 1 overall for Kennesaw (Ga.) Harrison quarterback Justin Fields also included moves into the five-star and four-star range for several prospects.
Ohio State doubled the number of five-star prospects it has committed as tight end Jeremy Ruckert and running back Jaelen Gill each added a fifth star. Ruckert moved up 23 spots from No. 45 to No. 22 in the updated rankings.
Lancaster (Calif.) Antelope Valley wide receiver Devon Williams is the third new five-star prospect after moving up 38 spots to No. 20 overall. There are currently seven 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Williams, all for the Oregon Ducks.
Florida quarterback commit Matt Corral fell out of the five-star range and now sits at No. 32 overall in the recruiting industry-generated ranking.
Miami offensive line commit Delone Scaife (No. 388 to No. 285) and Florida linebacker commit David Reese (No. 341 to No. 277) each added a fourth star, while Florida State linebacker commit Amari Gainer (No. 324 to No. 338) and Penn State linebacker commit Nick Tarburton (No. 314 to No. 368) fell outside the current four-star range.
Below is a look at many of the players making a move up and down in the updated 247Sports Composite rankings.

How anyone can have Ole Miss in their Top 3 right now is insane.
quote:
KN has update on 4* WR Seth Williams. Williams continues to say coach he is closest to is Kodi Burns. Says the two talk most every day and calls him "like a brother". He plans on visiting for the first game next weekend and believes AU is going to throw the ball more this season. He just wants to see it. Plans to commit either near the end of the season or after. Claims no official leader but sounds like top 3 right now are Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss. Auburn told him they want him as a big bodied guy they can throw the deep ball to
