What happened to Prattville?

Clark left, Dubose kept it up for a year or two before he went downhill. The guy they have now is terrible. Prattville used to be able to draw talent from Autaugaville and Montgomery, but that slowed after Clark left.

Looking at house prices down there, geez you can get a lot of house. Here's one in wetumpka, 4 bed, 4 bath, 1.7 acres, pool, fireplace, etc, barely over $200k. That would cost $600k where I live

Because he was recruiting kids outside the district and fudging their documents.

Not that that is particularly immoral but it is technically cheating.

Aside from that, frick Bill Clark. He's a piece of shite.

Prattville has got you covered on Mexican. Mexico Typico is probably the most popular resturant in town. There are quite a few others as well.

cheese dip there is off the chain. Whatever kind of Mexicans we have in Washington don't use that kind of cheese, and it's disappointing

I was there before Clark arrived, the football team sucked and people went to games to see the band. Sounds like it's back that way. I got to watch us lose the first round of the state playoffs 4 years straight (and it seemed like every school made the playoffs regardless of record)

Chad Anderson. He used to be my coach at Wetumpka, but got hired at Prattville my senior year. He had a couple good seasons, but benefited greatly from Tevin Washington and Jamal Golden- both who played at GTech.

I try to make it down there every year for the game. Last year when we beat them, you could still see Prattville has a good bit of talent. Nothing like what they did from 06-11, but still good enough to compete in 7A. Anderson is not a good enough coach.

If we land Waddle and Ross then that's not a bad thing necessarily

But isn't it really, really small?

Yes, and very boring. They do have a place that serves craft beer, called Coosa River Craft House, that's really good.

I really like this one:

I'd remodel the top floor to get rid of the carpet, but I think this is a good starting point.

ETA: Anyone know what neighborhood this one is in? If so, is it good?

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Entering Ajian – AJ McCarron’s new fast-casual sushi restaurant – you’re not overwhelmed by memorabilia.

The décor is modern featuring a framed McCarron No. 10 Alabama jersey – which he wore while leading the Crimson Tide to back-to-back national championships in 2011 and 2012 – and a framed McCarron No. 5 Cincinnati Bengals jersey, which is where he’s spent the past three seasons backing up Andy Dalton.

There are no references to “Roll Tide.” Only “Maki Tide,” with maki being the Japanese word for sushi.

That’s by design. While Ajian features the name of arguably the best quarterback in Alabama history, co-owner and general manager Pete Zimmer doesn’t want the place to solely be associated with football and sports.

“Our goal is to open multiple stores,” Zimmer told SEC Country. “We certainly want to pay homage to McCarron, but at the same time, if I were to open one of these in Auburn, it couldn’t be Alabama-centric.”

If Zimmer and McCarron decided to open a location on the Plains, Katherine Webb McCarron – former Miss Alabama USA (2012), Auburn graduate and McCarron’s wife – would be the face of that store.

While McCarron didn’t attend the opening Tuesday night, he is expected to be in Tuscaloosa for the grand opening the week of Oct. 9 during the Bengals bye weekend. Zimmer expects there will be a radio station who’ll do a live broadcast for the event. They’ll likely raffle off autographed photos. McCarron will take photos and sign autographs.

The two best things about Ajian are its location and the flexible menu.

Ajian is situated conveniently between The Strip and Downtown Tuscaloosa. Bryant-Denny Stadium is only a mile away. It’s also right across the street from Innisfree, which is consistently one of the more popular bars in Tuscaloosa.

There are commonly suggested sushi rolls like the California Roll and the Shrimp Tempura.

What sets Ajian apart is the option to create your own sushi roll, allowing you to customize your roll and get exactly what you want every time.

Similar to Chipotle or Subway, customers pick each individual ingredient while their meal is prepared in front of them.

For those who are not big on the fresh (raw) fish, Ajian offers grilled chicken and grilled steak.

You may create your own sushi rolls from a choice of 12 proteins, eight vegetables, eight toppings and seven sauces. There are also vegan options.

Point being, whether you’re a sushi lover or a novice, there is something for everyone at Ajian.

“We want to offer a healthy, fresh option for those who don’t always want fast food,” Zimmer said.

I ordered two rolls to get a feel for the place. I started with the Shrimp Tempura which features “your choice of rice, seaweed wrap, tempura shrimp, avocado, asparagus, with spicy mayonnaise and tempura crunch.”

And because I was feeling a little adventurous, my second roll had raw tuna, avocado, spicy mayo, sweet soy and fresh strawberries.

I was not sure what to expect. I don’t think fast food or even fast casual when I want sushi.

But I was pleasantly surprised. The food was both delicious and fresh.

All the rolls are $9 or less which is good for college students or anyone on a budget.

There is no beer or wine, but Tuscaloosa has plenty of bars for you to drink responsibly.

The only knock against Ajian is they serve Pepsi products, which is cool if you’re into that sort of thing.

Seriously, we’re not exactly sure if Ajian will become a staple in the Tuscaloosa community, but if you’re looking for something healthier than a burger and don’t want to break the bank, Ajian is the place for you.

Location: 1914 University Blvd

Price: $7.50-$9

Hours: Sundays-Wednesdays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Thursdays-Saturdays 11 a.m. to 1 or 2 a.m.

Not everybody is a fan of Nick Saban, despite Alabama’s dominance over the past decade. And that includes some of his coaching counterparts.

CBS Sports interviewed some of the country’s coaches anonymously, asking them to name who they think are some of the most overrated and underrated coaches in college football. Saban was named by 9 percent of the coaches, tied for second most with former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin (Florida Atlantic) and Lovie Smith (Illinois).

Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh led the most overrated section, getting named by 13 percent, while South Carolina’s Will Muschamp was the only other SEC coach to make the cut (4 percent).

Those who named Saban had no problem laying into the Alabama coach.

Here’s what two anonymous coaches told CBS Sports as their reasoning for Saban:

- “Nick’s got a lot of advantages. In [my conference], you could take five or six of us and get there a month before the season and win 12 games. There is a little f—ing machine underneath that stadium, and they grow them there.”

- “We’re going to have a war. You’re going to have a howitzer, and I have a musket, and then every time we’ll say that you’re brilliant.”

How other coaches would have fared at Alabama recently is an unknown, but you can’t argue that Saban has produced results. The Crimson Tide has won four national championships since 2009 and five SEC titles during that span, including each of the past three years.
