We go white water rafting up here, but I like to take it easy so I can drink while floating down the river.

You won't have a problem then. There's about a 7 mile stretch of river that most people use. Plenty of islands/rocks along the way where you can stop, rest, drink, eat lunch, etc

I have another question.

Are there good Mexican food restaurants around there?

Surprisingly enough, Columbus had some really good Mexican places spread out all over town.

Up here the Mexican food is shite.

Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell and National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney don’t always see eye to eye. In this edition of Rival Views, the two debate which 2019 prospect is most likely to eventually earn his fifth star.

FARRELL'S VIEW: OT DARNELL WRIGHT

I’m going to go with offensive tackle Darnell Wright from West Virginia over quite a few other candidates. The offensive tackle position is a premium one, and we don’t have any five-stars there yet for 2019. Wright is far and away the best candidate at the position in his class. He’s big, he has excellent feet, he mixes it up well even going against older prospects and I like the way he can build out his frame. We have a center for the first time ever in Clay Webb as a five-star, and it’s only a matter of time before a tackle joins him.

Ohio defensive end Zach Harrison is a freak of nature, and if he refines his technique a bit more, he’s likely a lock down the line. Running backs like Devyn Ford, Trey Sanders and Quarvaris Crouch also have a shot. Texas defensive end Marcus Stripling falls into the Harrison category as a freak as well who could put it all together. Texas safety Brian Williams is probably the closest thing to a lock next to Wright because he’s good at everything.

Keep an eye on all of these guys, and of course, as always happens, someone will shoot up from outside the Rivals100 or even outside the Rivals250 and surprise us all as well. It’s very early.

Our 2019 OL Class could be Pierce Quick, Clay Webb, Amari Kight and Darnell Wright.

GORNEY'S VIEW: DB BRIAN WILLIAMS

Ranked No. 11 overall, Brian Williams just missed out on being named a five-star, but the Dallas Bishop Dunne safety could definitely be in the running through his junior season.

His sophomore film is fantastic for numerous reasons. He can line up and shut down slot receivers, he’s excellent in coverage and wins 50/50 balls. Williams does a phenomenal job of reading what the quarterback is doing, trusting his eyes and then breaking on the ball.

Williams has hands like a wide receiver, so he can go up and beat receivers for a lot of passes, and he has tremendous athleticism as well. There’s no question the Bishop Dunne standout is one of the best safeties in the 2019 class, and so he’ll definitely be in the running for five-star status.

I also think running backs Devyn Ford, Quavaris Crouch and Noah Cain could absolutely move into the five-star realm along with athlete Trey Sanders, who could be a big-time running back or defensive back at Alabama.

But in terms of a player that I see as a surefire five-star prospect, I’m going with Williams because he’s such an incredibly talented safety.

Highly ranked players redshirting these days seems quite rare, but it happens, and often times it’s the right thing to do. At the end of last season, we named our top 10 redshirt freshmen, and many of them benefited from a year of development. Here are 10 standouts who could play key roles in their redshirt freshmen years.

My parents like going to Las Casitas near the interstate. There's a few more Mexican places, but I never go to them. Not trying to say they are bad, I just haven't been to them in 10-15 years. Montgomery has a few good ones as well.

LB Ben Davis

The skinny: Growing up minutes from Tuscaloosa and with his father having played for Alabama, most assumed that the Crimson Tide were the clear favorite. And while he did commit to Alabama on Signing Day, Auburn made a significant push, Georgia became a real threat, and he also took official visits to LSU and Notre Dame. Five-stars redshirting at Alabama is nothing new, but now it will be Davis’ time to show everyone the skill set and athleticism that he showcased at the high school level.

Farrell’s take: Alabama is so deep at linebacker that Davis might not even crack the two deep and might have to earn his way on special teams and slide into playing time due to injury or others underperforming. But he has the size, range and talent to make a big impact regardless, especially if Alabama has some injury issues. He’s not at the top of the list for impact redshirt freshmen in the country because of the depth, but he was one of the most talented defenders to sit out last season.

Well they say the Mexican restaurants up here differ from the ones in the South because the immigrants come from different areas in Mexico.

If the ones in Montgomery come from the same area as the ones in Mississippi then I'll be happy.

From TigerPaw:

quote:

KN has put up 2 insiders recently. Here's summary of both

- KN says after talking with 4* OG Trey Hill and those close to him, it really does seem like Hill is still very open despite the assumption UGA is the team to beat. AU, CLEM, FSU & LSU are all very much in the race. He's visited AU more than any other school (10 times) and on two trips brought his whole family along. Our family pitch plays well with him and he thinks he could get on the field early. His big thing though is he wants to play at a winning school so how teams do this fall will have a big affect. Gus Malzahn is apparently very involved in Hill's recruitment. Source told KN that this one will go down to the wire

- Despite being committed to Bama, 4* LB Quay Walker is still being recruited hard by AU, UGA, FSU & others. Multiple sources seem to think he won't stick to his Bama commit and he's listening to other schools right now. FSU appears to have the most confidence right now after a recent visit. However, Walker is prone to get "visit highs" so being that the Noles were his most recent visit that has a lot to do with why they are trending. Apparently for AU having Bryant on the team is a big positive as the two are close. Travis Williams really likes Walker & would love to flip him. AU has work to do but are very much in the race

- 3* ATH/DB Jammie Robinson is teammates with Walker and likes AU. Has visited a bunch tagging along with Bryant and Walker. Right now though the Gamecocks lead as Travaris Robinson is recruiting him hard. Robinson wants to develop a better relationship with Greg Brown and plans on coming for some games this fall

- 4* LB Otis Reese is committed to Michigan and doesn't look like AU will be much of a factor. UGA could be a team to watch tho

- Name to track is 3* OG Griffin McDowell. He's currently committed to State but is talking some with AU. Camped this summer and got some good feedback. Looks like a backup plan right now but could move up the board with strong senior year

- AU is really liking their chances with 4* WR Seth Williams. Sounds like he has really clicked with Kodi Burns and sees chance to get on field early at AU. Also Bama is starting to fill up at WR as well. As of now, AU likes where they stand

- Tigers continue to pursue Clemson commit 4* CB Kyler McMichael and apparently he's listening. Some sources say AU is a much bigger threat than people realize. McMichael is committed to play safety at Clemson but might wanna play CB which is where AU is recruiting him. Lots of staff members are working on this recruitment as he is a top priority. UGA is a team to watch as well

- On the other hand, Clemson is still hard after Quindarious Monday who was expected to commit to them this past fall. It would be not surprised if he visited Clemson this fall.

- AU's staff was a bit surprised by Dameon Pierce's commitment to UF. Not that he chose the Gators but more the timing. It was thought his recruitment would go on for awhile. AU will still pursue him despite his UF commitment

- Less than 1% chance 4* WR Kearis Jackson commits to AU. All Dawg

Right on.

The best Mexican food I've had in the last 4 years was at On The Border.

Camellia Estates is a decent neighborhood on the cheaper end. Shelia Blvd is a little nicer.

not gonna find any pools in Camilla estates. My mother in law is on upper Kingston by the high school, bigger house, bigger lots. Most stuff built there is from the 70s. There are some nice neighborhoods off Shelia Blvd, Cobb's Ford road, and old ridge road. Silver hills neighborhood behind the post office is pretty nice, just up mcqeen Smith road from East main Street (Cobb's Ford Rd), or at least it was back in the early 2000s. I know there is alot of newer construction on the east side of town which would be closer to the interstate, golf course, Bass pro shop if that's your kind of thing. If you are gonna be on Gunter I would give wetumpka a look too, unless you just want your kids to go to Prattville schools

I've been looking at stuff in Wetumpka this morning and their school ratings are an 8 compared to Prattville's 9.

That's pretty negligible in my opinion so I'm open to living there too.

But isn't it really, really small?

I just looked up both Wetumpka and Prattville's preseason rankings for football.

What happened to Prattville?

They are ranked #104 in the state according to MaxPreps whereas Wetumpka is ranked #44 overall.

I thought Prattville was a powerhouse.

Prattville is definitely bigger. They have a growing private school (Prattville Christian Academy) if you are interested in that route. My mom retired from PCA a year ago but taught at the Primary school and Daniel Pratt Elem. for 20 years or so.

yeah, it's pretty small, but house prices should be lower than prattville. It's a pretty town, cool old downtown, on the coosa river, rafting and swimming convenient, iconic bridge, and it's a straighter shot to Gunter down 231, less traffic. Kinda depends on if you like the small town vibe or if you want more amenities
