MIAMI, Fla. — This past spring, Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard 2019 defensive end Braylen Ingraham exploded onto the scene landing a host of elite offers with the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and other joining the mix.

“It was amazing, man,” Ingraham said of his recruitment heating up. “It was a blessing. I never seen this coming.”

This past Saturday, the 6-foot-3, 250-pound Ingraham was at FIU’s camp which had Alabama head coach Nick Saban and several of his assistants working the event.

“Bama is an excellent school. I think they will help me develop my game and go to the league.”

The in-state Gators is another program Ingraham speaks highly of.

“Florida is another big-time school. I would love to go up there and play. Their defensive line is amazing. I watch them a lot too.”

After camping with the Hurricanes last week, Miami extended a tender.

“I grew up a big Miami fan, so I was honored to receive that offer.”

Despite all these early offers and childhood fandom, Ingraham is not ready to name a leader.

“Everyone is equal right now. I haven’t really looked into them yet.”

Auburn hosted an elite quarterback in this year's class on Tuesday when five-star Justin Fields of Kennesaw, Ga., the nation's No. 3 overall recruit, stopped by.

The Tigers already have a quarterback committed in Jacksonville, Fla., four-star Joey Gatewood. He's a top 100 national recruit ... as an athlete. So the thought could be that Gatewood is a developmental guy if he sticks at quarterback, or he eventually changes positions.

I believe Auburn has a great chance to sign Pinson Valley star Bo Nix in 2019. The Auburn legacy could be Auburn's lone signee at the position in that class, but Auburn needs two here. If it misses on Fields, there doesn't yet seem to be Plan B. It could come in the transfer market. Fields plays for Cam Newton in the 7on7 team. He's also from Georgia, but the Bulldogs have signed elite quarterbacks in each of the last two classes. Florida and Florida State could be easier paths to playing time, but Auburn also offers that.

It's still unclear with Alabama. Crimson Tide coaches have issued numerous offers, but haven't closed in on one just yet. Tanner McKee is a big quarterback from California who has visited, but he's also going on a Mormon mission for two years this summer. He's essentially a class of 2020 recruit. Alabama is trying to flip Utah commit Jack Tuttle, but he hasn't visited yet and hasn't announced plans of a visit.

Alabama's quarterback signee this year is likely going to be a developmental guy at this point, unless an elite flips. Alabama signed elite quarterbacks in the last two classes. I would look for a class of 2019 top quarterback to commit sooner than at this point of the recruiting cycle.

There are only a few coaches who could realistically "pass" on a player like Parsons without backlash. He's a superathlete but you need to make sure the guys you are bringing in are the right ones for the program

Sidenote: Joshua Moore seems to have a new favorite team monthly?

OU, Texas, FSU, Nebraska and now A&M have all gone through phases as the big leader

Perhaps getting him out of the Northeast would help.

Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. Today, we talk the latest with a priority junior college defensive line and tight end target plus a Mississippi defensive lineman includes Alabama in his top three.

Alabama appears to be trending for JUCO DL Emmit Gooden

The Crimson Tide have signed at least one junior college defensive lineman in each class dating back to the Class of 2014. Emmit Gooden, a 247Sports 3-star defensive tackle from Independence (Kan.) Community College, is the most likely candidate to continue that run into the 2018 class.

Gooden says he has been identified by the Alabama staff as a top priority for the 2018 recruiting cycle.

“When you have Nick Saban himself tell you that you are his No. 1 junior college recruit and [defensive line] Coach (Karl) Dunbar tell you the same thing, it has just been shown to me that they really want me there,” Gooden told SEC Country.

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound prospect is planning on releasing a top schools list in the coming days, and Alabama will make the cut. While he won’t go as far as to say the Crimson Tide lead his recruitment, it is clear that Alabama should be considered the team to beat.

The former Mississippi State commit was recruited by Alabama coming out of high school but it was evident toward the end of the process that he wasn’t going to be able to academically qualify; however, the team has remained in touch.

“They have shown me loyalty throughout this process,” Gooden said. “Some schools have fallen off since high school, but I try to talk to Alabama on a daily basis. I know this is a busy month for them with camps and everything going on at this time of the year, but I try to talk to them every day. Even if it’s just a good morning text message.”

Oklahoma was also a school that was strongly in the mix, too, but Gooden is unsure of where he stands with the Sooners after the sudden retirement of Bob Stoops. Arkansas, Georgia and Louisville are also contenders.

But Alabama offers a couple things the others can’t: recent championship success and Saban.

“You are going to compete year in and year out for at least an SEC championship, if not a national championship,” Gooden said. “To go to a place like that and play for a legendary coach like Nick Saban — not everyone can say they’ve done that.”

The Tide are recruiting Gooden at all three defensive line positions, giving Gooden a key advantage against other recruits.

Saban himself was the one to confirm the offer to Gooden, a moment which nearly brought the massive recruit to tears.

“It’s kind of like going to heaven,” Gooden said. “I almost cried when he told me the news. I was that happy. It just let me know what kind of player I am and how hard I’ve worked for this. It’s been a goal of mine to play for one of the best schools in the country, win a championship and then go to the league. Once you sign with Alabama, you’re about halfway there.”

Gooden will graduate in December and said a commitment could come at any time. My prediction is that he chooses the Crimson Tide.

JUCO TE Dominick Wood-Anderson locks in official visit to Alabama

Dominick Wood-Anderson, the nation’s No. 1 JUCO tight end from Arizona Western College in Yuma, announced on Tuesday through his Twitter account that he has locked in an official visit to Alabama on July 21.

I Will Be Taking My Official Visit To Alabama July 21st ?? #RollTide ??

— Dominick Anderson ?? (@TheRealYungDom) June 13, 2017

Wood-Anderson has been a big target for the Crimson Tide, but Oregon appears to be the favorite as of now. Some (including me) thought that Wood-Anderson was likely going to commit to Alabama when he visited in April for multiple days, but he decided to take a trip to Oregon which quelled Alabama’s momentum.

The Crimson Tide signed two tight ends in the Class of 2017 in Kedrick James and Major Tennison, but they would like to add one in the 2018 class. Wood-Anderson, Luke Ford and Glenn Beal are the top targets at the position.

Wood-Anderson has told SEC Country in the past that he’s very high on the Tide.

“It’s somewhere where I’m going to come in and make an immediate impact and somewhere that’s going to give me the best shot to be a top-5 tight end in the country my first year and be a top-20 draft pick after my second year,” Wood-Anderson said in early April.

We’ll see if Alabama can get some momentum back when he makes it to campus next month.

Mississippi DL Fabien Lovett drops top 3

One week after adding an offer from Alabama, Fabien Lovett, a 3-star defensive end from Olive Branch (Miss.) High School, released his top three schools Tuesday. Alabama, Mississippi State and Ole Miss all made the cut.

Lovett attended Nick Saban Football Camp and earned an offer from the head man himself after a stellar performance in Tuscaloosa. When recruits earn offers at camp, it typically means they have a committable offer. There are many defensive line targets for the Tide in the Class of 2018, but what Lovett has going for him is he can play both tackle and end.

I still think there are others ahead of him on the pecking order, and it’s likely the team will have to miss on some targets in order for Lovett to have a spot.

2019 CB Derek Stingley Jr.

Recruiting wrap: LSU, Alabama, Texas and several others are among the schools involved with Stingley.

Performance: Stingley plays with a confidence beyond his years and he stepped in ready to compete against the nation's best. He's a versatile defensive back who can play corner or safety and with good speed and coverage ability, it's easy to see why he's already ranked among the nation's best.

2019 Safety Chris Steele

Recruiting wrap: Steele is committed to UCLA, but LSU, Alabama, Stanford, Michigan and others are pursuing him.

Performance: There is still a debate whether Steele will play cornerback or safety in college, but he was excellent at the Five-Star Challenge and could be one of the top defensive backs in the 2019 class. He has range and length, the ability to break on the ball to knock down passes and he's an athletic kid who can run with receivers on deep routes.

2019 WR Trey Palmer

Recruiting wrap: LSU, Alabama and several others are in the early mix for Palmer.

Performance: The 2019 four-star was initially ranked as a defensive back but has been focusing on wide receiver this offseason with great results. The Five-Star Challenge was no different as he consistently got open and made plays on a team full of talented wide receivers. Palmer's speed and hands make him dangerous and will translate to any offense at the next level.

2019 OT Pierce Quick

Recruiting wrap: Quick is committed to Alabama.

Performance: It was an up and down day for Quick. He was better in the morning than in the afternoon, but he still showed why he had the offers he had before committing to Alabama earlier this spring. He is a big-time tackle and he won more than he lost in the morning. He flashed good strength and the ability to move on the edge.

2020 QB Harrison Bailey

Recruiting wrap: It is early, but Alabama and Florida are two schools the 2020 quarterback is high on.

Performance: Bailey was by far the youngest prospect in attendance and the first rising sophomore to be invited to the Rivals Five-Star Challenge, but he didn’t show nerves, he showed he belonged and he made some big-time throws. He threw a couple of interceptions during the 7-on-7 play, but overall, he had a strong showing.

HENRY'S GOING TO KEEP PEOPLE GUESSING

Last week when K.J. Henry visited Alabama and Georgia with some of his teammates, he got the recruiting world buzzing. Henry checked out both schools and then returned home to North Carolina, driving right by Clemson, one of the programs widely considered to be one of his favorites. When asked about it at the event Henry said it was a case of mismanaged timing that led to him skipping the Tigers visit. Nonetheless, the Clemson faithful are concerned that the Tigers may be slipping behind the Dawgs and the Tide for Henry’s services. He said not to read into it and that he’ll be back at Clemson soon, but it’s clear that Henry is the type of player whose every move will be tracked by recruiting fans for months. And with a decision not likely to come soon, he will keep fans and analysts alike guessing along the way.

His older brother Penei Sewell, attended a camp at the University of Alabama on June 4 and is one of Alabama’s top recruits. He is a four-star prospect in the 2018 class. Penei Sewell is an offensive lineman and the 59th-ranked prospect.
