3-star DT Darnell Jefferies after camping at Alabama this weekend:

quote:

"They stand close to the top, if not at the top," he said. "It's a great place for life and football."

I think he is Clemson bound FWIW.

Jaycee Horn quote:

quote:

Horn named Alabama his leader after A-Day. A few weeks later South Carolina took the top spot. Where do things stand now?

“(Alabama) made a big move yesterday,” Horn said. “There’s not really a leader at this point. It’s just up in the air now. Whatever school stands out the most I’ll go to.”

He said he may visit again this Summer.

I didn't make the claim, I think Rivals did a couple of weeks ago. I am sure as hell not smart enough to watch a highlight tape and know if guy A is better than guy B. So much depends on competition level and I'm not educated enough to know how much better a good Florida team is than a good Missouri team relatively speaking

I know. I was just saying it's a little early for anyone to be making that claim, especially at QB when only one kid can be on the field at a time.

We apparently offered this OLB out of Georgia about a month ago, but I never saw it and there was never a story about it on BOL.

He visited for camp this weekend and appears to be very high on our board according to two different website moderators.

Andrew Johnson Highlights

ETA: Here's the direct link for his Junior Highlights: LINK

Holy shite he's fast.

ETA: Tyson might be one of the guys in the 2019 class ready to make a jump.

I agree with this. His team being stacked sure won't hurt him either.

On a side note, I really hate that we are having a camp right now. The weather is pure shite.

New 2019 LB offer out to a kid from Mississippi:

Nakobe Dean Highlights

He's from Horn Lake which is typically Ole Miss territory, but if they get the hammer from the NCAA he may be inclined to go elsewhere.

Saban and Tosh supposedly told 2019 OLB King Mwikuta he was our "top priority" for next year.

Whatever that means.

A source told BOL that Alabama leads for Mwikuta with Georgia and Florida State rounding out his Top 3.

Auburn's Big Cat Weekend is over and the question on everyone's mind is this: Was it a success?

The Tigers entered the weekend with six committments and exited it with the same number. Yet, there are a few things to note here.

For starters, Auburn never has landed more than two commits during Big Cat. A year ago, for example, the Tigers picked up only one.

Second, Auburn does appear close to landing a few of the prospects who were on hand.

Ultimately, though, the success of Big Cat won't be measured by day-of commits, but by how many who attended the event end up in the 2018 class.

History shows us several will.

But let's face it, time will tell.

In the meantime, here's a player-by-player look at where things stand in our opinion with every 2018 Big Cat attendee.

As usual, I'll post the ones related to us

Defensive Tackle Jalen Cunningham, Odenville (Al.) St. Clair County

WHERE THINGS STAND: Alabama remains the team to beat for the 3-star defensive tackle but Auburn has made a signifcant move and now appears to be a top contender. If the Tide pushes, it's hard to imagine him slipping away because it has led for so long. "I love Auburn. I love the coaching staff," Cunningham said. His dad, who joined him, also likes the Tigers.

Defensive End Andres Fox, Mobile (Ala.)

WHERE THINGS STAND: Auburn is a co-leader, but Fox wouldn't name the other. It's either Alabama or LSU and our guess is, it's probably LSU. He still says LSU is recruiting him hardest, but admitted Saturday's Big Cat visit gave Auburn a nice boost. He hopes to announce a commitment in August. At this time, we like Auburn's chances, but it's a long way from over with visits to Alabama and LSU looming.

Running back Asa Martin, Decatur (Ala.) Austin

WHERE THINGS STAND: Martin did not do interviews following his visit but we've heard from multiple sources the trip went well. That was the second time Martin has visited Auburn in the past month with his mother. Auburn, Alabama and Florida are the top contenders. He'll visit the Tide on Tuesday and Wednesday. A decision will come Aug. 24.

I wonder what Martin thinks about Zamir White coming to Tuscaloosa last weekend.

Defensive tackle Coynis Miller, Birmingham (Ala.) Jackson-Olin

WHERE THINGS STAND: Miller has visited the Tigers numerous times and seems to be a good fit both on and off the field at Auburn. The Tigers are a top contender, with Alabama being the other. He'll have a decision in August. Auburn is telling him he'll play early and he likes hearing that. But Miller grew up a Tide fan.

Linebacker JJ Peterson, Colquitt County (Ga.)

WHERE THINGS STAND: Alabama continues to lead but Auburn may be starting to make this interesting. Peterson's visit was his second to Auburn and each time he has come away a little more comfortable with the Tigers. His strong relationship with linebackers coach Travis Williams may give the Tigers a shot.
