Rankings updates from 247Sports and around the industry produced a big jump for Penn State quarterback commit Justin Fields and a new five-star prospect in the recruiting industry-generated 247Sports Composite earlier this week.
The latest updates produced a double-digit group of new four-star prospects and more big moves in the four-star and three-star range.
BYU, Miami, LSU, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Michigan State and N.C. State are among the schools with current commits adding a fourth star. Other players making big moves include commitments to Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas and more.
Below is a look at the new four-star prospects and others making a move up in the updated 247Sports Composite rankings.

Decatur (Ala.) Austin running back Asa Martin announced a top three on Thursday afternoon that reflected his 247Sports Crystal Ball – Alabama, Auburn, and Florida.

“It’s a three-team race right now,” Martin told 247Sports. “Really nobody is in front. It’s going to come down to these last three visits.”
Auburn will have Martin on campus Saturday before he makes his way back to Alabama next Tuesday and Wednesday for camp.
“Alabama’s definitely coming on really strong lately, especially going from not hearing from them at all to now texting with the OC every day,” Martin said.
The Tide offered Martin during his unofficial visit for A-Day. Up until that point the Decatur Austin product had heard very little from the staff, and had very little interest in the program.
With Dameon Pierce having exited the class last month, Martin is now being told he’s the top running back target.
“He’s not pushing or pressing, he just tells me how versatile I am and how big of an asset I can be in their offense,” Martin said of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll’s pitch.
Another selling point to Martin with Alabama is the opportunity to play either side of the ball, although running back looks to be the primary position.
“It’s one of the top programs in the country,” Martin said of what sets Bama apart from others. “They put a lot of guys in the NFL.”
Earlier in the spring Florida led for the in-state back, with Auburn on its heels. With the Bama offer in pocket, it’s anybody’s game now.
“Where I’m comfortable, and where I can see myself growing as a person and player for the next three to four years,” Martin said of what will set one school over another.
The 5-foot-11.5, 195-pound Martin is rated the No. 11 running back and the No. 225 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
Florida continues to lead the Crystal Ball at 55 percent, with Alabama and Auburn coming in at 27 and 18 percent, respectively.
Martin is targeting an August 24th decision.

From Peter Ariz (By far the best source for Canes info):
Xavier is still Miamis top target for our 4th WR spot (have basically 0 chance with Terrance Marshall or AmonRa). And if we don't get him we might just stick with 3 WRs. But Technically we'd be taking him as an athlete just like you guys. Both of us (miami and bama) want him at safety, but are going to let him try to play WR because thats what he wants.
....Also, You guys still have no chance at all at Jobe. Just to let you guys know. I am surprised you guys are high on Copeland though. I don't think he's as good as a lot of these other Florida receivers.

Xavier Williams - I would characterize Miami's chances here as 'decent'. That might not be what Canes fans want to hear, but I would say that recent reports of his commitment not being solid to Bama are a bit premature. The Canes are certainly in the game and Coach Dugans continues to plug away, but Miami is not expecting anything imminently with him.

Hey, I know this isn't about recruiting but I read where students at LSU are trying to have their mascot, The LSU Tiger changed. Anyone heard this?

Until they are signed, we have a chance

Yea, it's supposedly racist. In my opinion, it's just people finding things to bitch about.
Here is a thread on tigerrant about it. They aren't happy about it either. I don't blame them

Yep! Some guy from Florida apparently suggested a new mascot called "Boaty McBoatface". Said that is the only way he would support the change. I know a meme is coming with that name. Can't believe the university would go along with changing the mascot but OM did.

I mean you have a chance. But you don't actually have a chance. I will say if there is one school that could get Jobe, I'd say its you guys. But in order for you to get him, we'd probably need to lose like 5 games and have a lot of his friends decommit.
Again, I think you guys have a better chance at flipping Gurvan Hall from us, who is an absolute monster.

Never enough down votes for you.

Y'all lose five games a year pretty regularly. So the odds aren't that bad

He's the #48 player overall in the Composite. He's also ranked higher than every WR currently committed to Miami.

Apparently Alabama is not the only ones who prefer him to the "other Florida receivers."

He's ranked highly, but he really should not be ranked higher than guys like Mark Pope, Xavier Williams, Kevin Austin, Joshua Moore, Brian Hightower, or Warren Thompson. He's better than our other commit Wiggins though, but I think Wiggins has more long term potential than him and even our other 2 commits.

Based on what?
ETA: If you formed this opinion from watching all of the aforementioned players' film then I can respect that.
If you are basing it off something else then I'd say watch their film.
I don't claim to be the best film analyst out there, but I do value my own eyes over most. Having said that I haven't watched much WR film for this year sans Justyn Ross (not really impressed), Seth Williams (underrated) and Joseph Scates (stud).
So don't take this as a disagreement, I'd just like to know where your stance is coming from.

I'm with you , the 2 California wr- we will not get . Marshall from Nola I think is one of the best this year. (And we don't have a chance per him) so Ross again from highlights not imprssive , unless these summer camps he's been tearing it up. S. Williams I think is a monster I'd understand him dropping . Scates again on film stud. So what's left . Baab, very good made his finals . Josh Moore could also be a db , and Copeland on film for a slot not to many better !

Yeah, I've watched the guys I've commented on's film and some more Florida guys, and I'm definitely not some expert film analyst. But I do trust what I see and the opinions of people I talk to that go to most of these high school games.
Theres a reason UF is the only Florida school going for him over these other top guys. Any other year and Copeland would probably be the top WR in Florida, but it's absolutely stacked at WR and DB this yr.
I'm just sayin, If I were you guys I'd be surprised they're heavily going after Copeland when it seems like you guys aren't going to have a big WR class, and there are a lot of better options. TBH, I'm also surprised you guys aren't going all out for Terrace Marshall - there is no question that dude is a top 3 WR in the nation. Also I think you guys got the best WR in the nation last year in Jeudy. So I'm not Anti-Bama biased in this discussion.
