What mattered on this class was getting top DL and DBs.

Agreed, but you can't strike out on any position group without it affecting at least quality depth down the line.

We probably are going to sign the best DB class we have ever signed and definitely the best DL class of 2018.

So far, we have 3 DB's signed and 2 DL. All 4-stars. Which is great but noticeably absent are the typical 5-star headliners Alabama usually signs.

Devil's advocate. What if Bobby Brown flips and Langham signs with AU? Still a great DL class? Not really.

What if we miss on Surtain, Campbell and ITS and sign only 3-star Eddie Smith? Still the best DB class we've ever signed? Not even close. My point is there is a lot at play between now and next Wednesday, and it may go well, or it could be a pretty bad finish and a very "meh" class. Closing strong with our top targets is absolutely critical to this class and will determine whether this class is a weak link in Alabama's armor moving forward, or another strong piece of future championships. A lot at stake the next 6 days is all I'm saying. You REC boys need to get to work.

I think if bama is getting Surtain we will see some crystal balls coming in within the next 24 hours. My thinking is he plays it cool with lsu then things start leaking after the visit if that's his intentions. I still think lsu gets him but I don't count chickens before they are hatched especially with bama in the hen house

It's just crazy for anyone to count their chickens at this point.

Folks still think Miami has a shot at both Surtain and Campbell with both guys taking their final visits down there this weekend. I don't think you will see the CB's until after they leave. The thing is both guys are being REAL quiet right now. Doubt that changes before NSD.

Crystal balls may not start moving much for Surtain, Campbell, ITS and Griffin until after this last weekend of OVs. Griffin's might start rolling to USC anytime tho.

I don't think Miami is in it with Surtain. It wouldn't shock me to see surtain pick lsu and his dad take a job at say St Aug in New Orleans. I've heard they have a desire to return back to the area. The St Aug part is pure speculation. It also wouldn't shock me to see him sign with the Tide. It would shock me to see him sign with Miami

The Richt guy on the recruiting board might be the worst fan of any team on this site. That's saying something

That's very true a ton of players out there that multiple sides are confident on. Even with less players signing this could be a wild signing day

Wrong. We are loading up next year, especially at OL.

You're being very disingenuous.

Savion Smith was a 5* in high school that is seasoned and is coming in to start. We're also in the mix for four more 5* and two 4*.

Also, we have signed a 5* DE in Eyabi Anoma, who is the best rush DE talent we have probably ever signed. We have also signed an amazing DT, and have two other amazing DL who will join on signing day.

It's amazing how pessimistic some of you "fans" are.

Rumor on UGA247 board that JJ Peterson might not end up a Vile.

Might be a heated battle brewing between CoLinn and EMCC for his signature.

No more face time after Sunday, but phone conversations are allowed.

YStar, I'm not sure if you saw it or not, but the Miami guy responded to everyone about Jobe in the Surtain thread. Wrote a freaking essay

After 10 years with CNS there's one thing I am certain of: on NSD we finish SKRONG! Everybody else, fricked. Hide yo' 4 stars, hide yo' 5 stars cause Slick Nick is in town and he's flipping commitments!

Saban disagrees with you. There's a reason we're fighting so hard to sign White or Purdy at QB this cycle even though the 2019 class is loaded. You always sign quality guys every single cycle in every single position group. To argue against that philosophy is simply asinine. And again, every college coach ever disagrees with you.

Savion was a 5-star out of high-school on Scout. He was a composite 4-star, which is exactly what he's ranked now. Pumped to have him, but a 5-star he is not.

I'm also stoked about Anoma, but that cat weighs around 230 lbs right now. He looked like a big WR running around in the All-Star game. 230 lbs isn't even big enough to play OLB in our scheme much less DE in a 3-4. He's going to have to gain a lot of good weight before he even gets on the field at OLB in regular. It will be years until he can get to DE size, if ever. Until then he'll be a rabbit rusher. Good chance he ends up being an OLB rather than a DE at the college level. Not downplaying his ability one bit as he has the ability to be a 1st rounder as an edge rusher, but I can't count him as part of our DL class when odds are he'll never be big enough to play on the line.
