We could have a really good DB class after all.

Lucky just CB'd Stevens to us.

If Tim Watts puts one in it is officially over.

Alabama will hold its invite-only Champions Cookout on Friday, and two 5-star recruits headline the group of blue-chip prospects headed to Tuscaloosa.

Isaiah Wilson, the nation’s No. 7 offensive tackle, arrives on campus Thursday and will stay through Sunday. This is Wilson’s second trip to Alabama this offseason. He made his first visit to Tuscaloosa in April for A-Day. Wilson’s recruitment is likely to come down to Michigan, Alabama, Southern California, LSU and Georgia.

JaCoby Stevens, the nation’s No. 1 athlete, will also be on Alabama’s campus this weekend. This is a giant visit for Stevens as he’s nearing a commitment that could come by the end of the month. He told SEC Country a few weeks ago that he wasn’t expecting to visit Alabama again before his commitment, so to get him back on campus is a very positive sign. Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and LSU remain in the mix.

There are several players who could potentially commit to Alabama before the weekend is over. TE Major Tennison, DB Kyriq McDonald, junior college DB Jhavonte Dean and 2018 DB Myles Mason could potentially be a part of the Crimson Tide.

Here are the prospects expected to be at Alabama this weekend:

(NOTE: This is not an official list. These are only the names SEC Country has confirmed that will be in attendance.)

Commits

4-star QB Mac Jones (Jacksonville, Fla.)
4-star LB VanDarius Cowan (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.)
4-star LB Markail Benton (Phenix City, Ala.)
4-star RB Brian Robinson (Tuscaloosa, Ala.)

Targets

5-star OT Isaiah Wilson (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
5-star S JaCoby Stevens (Murfreesboro, Tenn.)
4-star DE Ryan Johnson (Mobile, Ala.)
4-star DE Malik Herring (Forsyth, Ga.)
4-star CB DeAngelo Gibbs (Suwanne, Ga.)
4-star OG Kendall Randolph (Madison, Ala.)
4-star WR Henry Ruggs III (Montgomery, Ala.)
4-star DE Jarez Parks (Sebastian, Fla.)
4-star LB Tyler Taylor (Sugar Hill, Ga.)
3-star DB Kyriq McDonald (Madison, Ala.)
3-star TE Major Tennison (COMMITMENT WATCH) (Bullard, Texas)
3-star TE Kedrick James (Waco, Texas)
Junior college CB Jhavonte Dean (COMMITMENT WATCH) (Homestead, Fla.)
2018 4-star DB Myles Mason (COMMITMENT WATCH) (Pleasant Grove, Ala.)

Unsure if they’ll make it

2018 5-star DE Xavier Thomas
4-star defensive end Markaviest Bryant
3-star LB Monty Rice

Notable names not in attendance

Alabama 5-star OT commit Alex Leatherwood
Alabama 5-star RB commit Najee Harris

Definite commit watch. A Kiffin/Ansley/Pruitt coup.

Well he says he is announcing by the end of July, but we'll see if he sticks to that.

Okay. Let's update predictions.

We're sitting at 15. We likely lose two from the current group. I'll predict we lose Sterling and Chadarius Townsend . That puts us at 13. But we should add Tyriq McDonald later today. I'm still thinking 27 or 28 signees. We'll go with 28 for numbers/convenience sake. So that means 15 more to add (counting Tyriq). Here's my guess on the final 15. Predictions, followed by other candidates in parentheses.

QB- 0
RB- 0 (could be 1, but I'll predict 0 due to how well Emmons and Jacobs have impressed since arriving on campus).
WR- 4 Devonta Smith, Jeudy, Ruggs, Thomas
TE- 2 Tennison, Gamble (Falo?)
OL- 2 Randolph, Isaiah Wilson (Trey Smith?, Wills?, don't think Ruiz has a commitable offer now)
DL- 3 Ray, Ryan Johnson, Conliffe (Marvin Wilson?, Buggs?, Tart-Spencer?, "Crisco" Shelvin?, others)
LB- 1 Chris Allen (Browning? Rice? Chase Young?)
DB- 3 Shaun Wade, Jacoby Stevens, McDonald (Juco DB Dean?, Nasirildeen)

So we'll likely sign more DBs than 3, but what position takes the hit? At the end of the day, I wouldn't be surprised if we only signed one more OL, opening the way for another DB. If Jeff Thomas doesn't make the grades, then only 3 more WRs instead of 4. Still too many variables to make anywhere close to a confident guess on the last few spots, just like every year under Saban.

What do you guys think?

Ideally: 1RB 4 WR 1TE 1OL 4DL
3DB 2LB
And would like to keep Townsend
But having to take a kicker and snapper has taken away some choices.

So drop one from LB WR or DL.

Here's a Jacoby Stevens update from the LSU board.

REC and Saban must want him. Bama has history with Tenn. recruits. Unmarked envelopes given to reps of 'charities' exchanged anywhere from church to Burger King parking lots all over Western Tenn/Northern AL.

Some of these posters need to publish fiction literature. Their ability to make shite up is honestly impressive.

He didn't name any particular schools, and even said Townsend was solid as of Monday, but in Hank South's recruiting chat he mentioned he could see Townsend flipping if a team offered him a QB spot a la Justin Thomas and Georgia Tech.
