Bone basically saying he's not a take right now, that he has to camp for an offer..........yet we are his favorite???
what other program would tell the #1 center in the land, "dude, you have to camp so we can see you in person"
Wow, that's selective recruiting at its finest.

We've gotten zero CBs for Ruiz since his announcement today.

One piece of good news I picked up today. Terrell Hall is being started at DE, and not Jack LB. Already about 260, and expected to be 280 by next year. That could help out a lot for our DL over the next couple years.
TH playing DE at 280 would give me the happy. So hard to recruit really good 3-4 DE's who can play against spread teams. You basically have to recruit a big framed 4-3 DE as a Jack and then convince him to move to 3-4 end once on campus (usually the kids athletic enough to be good against spread teams want to be an OLB or at least 4-3 DEs).

BEAVERTON, Ore. — One of the first things Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa shares with recruits when he introduces himself is his faith in God.
“I feel like that’s my duty,” Tagovailoa told SEC Country at The Opening, the premier summer camp for high school football players, which is held at Nike’s world headquarters.
Tagovailoa recalls a recent conversation he had with one of the Crimson Tide’s top targets at wide receiver, 4-star Devonta Smith. The pair didn’t talk much about football and X’s and O’s, but rather what their favorite scriptures are.
“Devonta and I have talked about our faith and gotten to connect spiritually,” Tagovailoa said. “We have built a good relationship now because we have similarities when it comes to our love for God.”
Smith, who will announce his commitment on Aug. 15 and choose from Alabama, Miami, Nebraska or Mississippi State, recalls the conversation vividly, too. The nation’s No. 10 wide receiver said that conversation made him feel more comfortable with Alabama because he knows he’d have a teammate to lean on.
“He’s a very inspirational person. He’s very uplifting,” Smith said. “I have never heard him be negative. Everything with him is just positive. (The conversation) was really good because it let me know that my possible quarterback is someone that won’t talk down on no one and will always pick them up.”
Tagovailoa is usually positive no matter what the situation is. When he was a sophomore at Saint Louis School in Honolulu, Tagovailoa entered the season as the backup quarterback to a senior. He wanted to take the starting job, so Tagovailoa turned to scripture for guidance.
The nation’s No. 2 dual-threat quarterback shared with Smith that the story and how his favorite scripture, 1 Corinthians 2:9, which reads, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him,” helped him.
“I came into that season with that scripture and I thought to myself if God is this or God is that — if I go into any game knowing that I have God in my heart, I know I can do anything,” Tagovailoa said. “I am trying to please an audience of one. That’s only for God. I did that. God took over. Like his words say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared,” now look at where I’m at thanks to the man upstairs.”
Tagovailoa is hoping to be crowned the Elite 11 MVP this week at The Opening and you can guarantee that he’ll be thinking about 1 Corinthians 2:9 for guidance before he takes the field.

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Nico Collins, the top prospect in the state of Alabama, has publicly declared Michigan as his leader. For a long period of time, Alabama was the favorite inside Collins’ mind.
Collins, a 4-star wide receiver from Clay-Chalkville High School (Pinson, Ala.), told SEC Country at The Opening, the premier summer camp in the nation, held at Nike’s world headquarters, that before he started taking trips to places such as Michigan and Georgia, the Crimson Tide led.
“Alabama was there at the top,” Collins said. “That was the only team that showed me the most love back then. They were the leader until I started going on all of these trips out of state and seeing what else was out there.”
From those trips out of state, Collins has had a chance to interact with 5-star Wolverines QB commit Dylan McCaffrey. He has been in the ear of Collins this week at The Opening, pitching him the opportunity to play together in college.
“Nico is awesome,” McCaffrey told SEC Country. “Obviously, I really want him to come to Michigan, but he’s a great dude and I want him to go where he thinks is a fit. We’ve built a good relationship, and I think he fits at Michigan. I would love to spend four years with him in the future. I’d love to throw to him. He’s such a good target and such a good guy. I think he’d really fit there just from hanging around with him.”
McCaffrey continued on what he thinks the Wolverines’ chances are for Collins.
“I think we do have a good chance. I’m just going to keep pushing him. I couldn’t really peek into his mind, but I think we have a great chance and I’m keep pushing him to make that decision.”
The Crimson Tide coaching staff isn’t going down without a fight. Alabama is still recruiting him hard, he said. In fact, Alabama is pursuing Collins harder than it ever has before.
“Right now, I think it’s getting crazier with them knowing my top group,” Collins said. “They’re still trying to get me so they are bringing the heat. They’ve always been recruiting me hard ever since I was in the 10th grade, which is when they first offered me. Now, I guess they know they have competition — Michigan and Georgia — so they are coming at me harder.”
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound prospect said he speaks with an Alabama coach every single day. Offensive line coach Mario Cristobal has communicated with Collins both days that the receiver has been participating in drills at The Opening.
The staff is aware that there’s still some work to do in order to land Collins on National Signing Day, which is when he is planning on committing. The main message the staff is telling him is to not forget about Alabama and keep his options open.
He does admit that despite Michigan being the No. 1 school right now, Alabama is not far behind.
“Alabama is still up there real close,” Collins said. “There’s just something about Alabama. It’s a great place to be.”
Ultimately, Collins’ desire to explore outside of the Yellowhammer state may be Alabama’s kryptonite with its chances for the elite receiver.
“I really like going out of state,” Collins said. “Going to Michigan and Georgia and seeing what else is out there, I kind of love that. I love seeing what else is out there.”
Collins is rated as the nation’s No. 13 wide receiver. If Alabama misses on Collins, the Crimson Tide is still strongly in the mix for 4-star prospects Devonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III. Alabama has a commitment from 6-foot-6 wide receiver Tyrell Shavers, who is also a 4-star prospect.

anyone that leaves the SE to go play at a cold weather state deserves what they get. I doubt it affects his football life but Jan. and Feb are cold.

Take this FWIW. But based on some chatter, I'm gathering that Beal is/was rated substantially higher than Chase Young on our board. I know one talent evaluator in particular that thinks Young is a bit overrated. I guess we'll see. I'd still love to get him.

That's the opposite of what that "insider" on BOL is saying.
Like you said, I guess we'll see.

BEAVERTON, Ore. - 12 of the best quarterbacks in the country have descended upon the Nike World Headquarters this week for the final Elite 11 event. Two days into the camp, the quarterbacks are throwing on air, installing their offenses and building chemistry with their receivers. In that kind of a setting with nothing but the best on hand, everybody looks good.
On Friday, defenders will be inserted into the equation and separation will start to emerge between the top arms. But even before those defenders arrive, there's already plenty we've learned about the 12 quarterbacks on hand.
Here are some of the early impressions of the Elite 11 passers.

Alabama commit Tua Tagovailoa
Tua isn't of ideal height for a quarterback, he's got a three-quarter release point, he's got a bit of a wind up but when the ball comes out it's a beautiful thing. The Hawaiian native has the ability to put trajectory and arc on the football that some undersized quarterbacks aren't able to accomplish. He can also really spin it and deliver on deep balls as well as anybody. Most importantly, Tagovailoa is one of the more magnetic personalities among the quarterbacks in attendance.

Yeah, I know that there's some guy that has been saying that. And it could be that our staff is even split. That happens sometimes. But I'm reasonably confident that our DC likes Beal an awful lot.
