beast. One of our best recruits/recruiters from this class, yet you still have some out there trying to sell subscriptions that say he could end up at X, Y, or Z place. Kid seems really solid to me.

I know Alex quite well. He reminds me so much of DJ Fluker in personality. Loves to have fun and passionate.

Good to hear. I assume you feel no concern over him playing anywhere other than Bama then?

The 2016 Elite 11 class of quarterbacks returns to action July 5 at Nike's world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. These competitors qualified from a group of 24 passers who attended the Elite 11 Finals from June 3-5, and they will now reunite in the Northwest with greater stakes.
Elite 11 coaches challenged this collection of coveted recruits to delve into deep playbooks and depart for Beaverton prepared to execute during drills and a star-studded seven-on-seven tournament. The competition continues through The Opening, which ends July 10.
All 12 quarterbacks already earned induction to the Elite 11 fraternity, but only one will claim MVP honors, a feat accomplished in recent years by standouts such as Jameis Winston, Blake Barnett and Shea Patterson. Here's how we break down the top contenders in this class, taking into account past performances in Elite 11 settings and high school film review.

2. Tua Tagovailoa
High School: St. Louis (Honolulu)
Size: 6'1", 215 lbs
247Sports Composite Ranking: No. 2 dual-threat quarterback; No. 60 overall
Recruitment Status: Committed to Alabama
Bleacher Report Analysis
Given his recent commitment to reigning national champion Alabama and a challenge issued by Trent Dilfer, perhaps no passer entered the Elite 11 Finals under more of a microscope than Tua Tagovailoa. He dominates in a spread attack at St. Louis, which produced Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, but coaches aimed to measure his ability to adapt.
"I told him [at a May regional camp in Oakland], 'Hey, Tua, the way you play the position, even though it looks great, doesn't translate to the next level. It lacks discipline. It doesn't benefit the way you move in the pocket. You can't throw in tight spaces. You have to work on this,'" Dilfer recalled during Bleacher Report's selection special.
Tagovailoa emphatically delivered.
"I have never seen a kid since I've been doing this change more in two weeks," Dilfer said.
We'll now witness how much further the dynamic playmaker has progressed. There's plenty to live up to in the aftermath of a finals performance that featured the highest pro-day score and a scintillating seven-on-seven display (14-of-15 passing with seven scores).
Tagovailoa, a dangerous weapon in the run game, looks capable of winning games with his arm and should vie to become the second Crimson Tide commit to claim Elite 11 MVP honors since 2014. He collected 2,583 passing yards, 576 rushing yards and 33 touchdown tosses as a junior, per MaxPreps.
Clemson commit Hunter Johnson was #1.

Alabama currently has 15 commitments in the Class of 2017, and most of the recruits have continued to have their eyes on other schools.
That’s normal nowadays in recruiting. Commitments can be viewed as “reservations” to hold a spot in a class while recruits continue looking around to see if there are better options elsewhere. This year, several Alabama commits have shut down their recruitments — they will be signing with Alabama. There are still some recruits who will continue visiting other schools to make sure Alabama is the right school for them.
Below are Alabama’s 15 commitments and which school is viewed as the biggest competition to Alabama.

Player name: Najee Harris, 5-star RB, Antioch, Calif.
Team to worry about the most: Southern California and UCLA
Why: Harris, the nation’s No. 1 overall player, has continued taking visits to the in-state schools. Both programs remain the biggest competition for Alabama to keep Harris committed. The running back was on Alabama’s campus earlier this month where he told the Crimson Tide coaching staff that he remains 100 percent committed. It’s still always a bit nerve-racking to see the best player in the country, who’s committed to your school, continuing to take visits.

quote:
Player name: Alex Leatherwood, 5-star OT, Pensacola, Fla.
Team to worry about the most: Florida
Why: Like Harris, Leatherwood continues to maintain that he is 100 percent committed to Alabama. In fact, he’s one of the team’s best recruiters and has been extremely vocal on social media about getting the best recruits in the country on board to Alabama. Florida remains the biggest competition to Alabama at this time. The Gators recently hosted him for one of their summer camps and he continues to stay in touch with offensive line coach Mike Summers. It’s not going to be easy for Florida to flip Leatherwood.

Player name: Tua Tagovailoa, 4-star QB, Honolulu
Team to worry about the most: Southern California
Why: The Hawaiian quarterback once called Southern California his dream school. That changed after he visited Alabama for the first time shortly before his commitment last month. The Trojans continue to pursue Tagovailoa and the quarterback plans on taking an official visit to USC this fall. At this time though, he is 100 percent committed to Alabama.

quote:
Player name: VanDarius Cowan, 4-star LB, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Team to worry about the most: None
Why: Some fans may have worried about whether or not Cowan was going to remain committed to Alabama when he flipped from Florida State back in April. The right to be concerned was there because he de-committed from Florida State twice. Now, he has been one of Alabama’s best recruiters and has said his recruitment is over. He is not planning on visiting any other school.

quote:
Player name: Markail Benton, 4-star LB, Phenix City, Ala.
Team to worry about the most: Auburn
Why: When Benton committed to Alabama earlier this month, he said Auburn led for him at one point during his recruitment. It wasn’t until a few weeks before his commitment to Alabama where the possibility of joining the Crimson Tide became strong. While he did say his recruitment is over, he doesn’t know if he will stop visiting other schools. Auburn is less than one hour away from home and being close to his family is important to Benton.

quote:
Player name: Xavier McKinney, 4-star S, Roswell, Ga.
Team to worry about the most: Clemson
Why: McKinney’s former teammate, Tre Lamar, is a freshman linebacker at Clemson. His good friend, LeAnthony McKinney, is committed to the Tigers now. Both of those guys have been in his ear about flipping from Alabama to Clemson. McKinney recently told SEC Country that Clemson was tied for No. 2 with Florida for his services.

quote:
Player name: Elliot Baker, 4-star OT, San Francisco
Team to worry about the most: None
Why: The week Baker committed to Alabama, he was supposed to visit Auburn. That visit was canceled after he became a part of the Crimson Tide family. He is not visiting any other schools besides Alabama. His recruitment is finished.
Posted on 6/28/16 at 4:50 pm to TideSaint
quote:
Player name: Chadarius Townsend, 4-star ATH, Tanner, Ala.
Team to worry about the most: Florida State and Florida, pending an offer
Why: Townsend only has four offers right now, and none of the three other schools are actively recruiting him. He has expressed his desire to continue taking visits. He has told SEC Country in the past that he would like to visit Florida and Florida State. It’s going to take a lot to flip Townsend though. He grew up a giant Alabama fan and his coach played for the Crimson Tide.

quote:
Player name: Tyrell Shavers, 4-star WR, Lewisville, Texas
Team to worry about the most: None
Why: After Shavers committed to Alabama earlier this month, he announced that his recruitment was over and visits to other schools would cease. He has kept that promise so far.
