Fat?? He may need to lose some weight in general, but he's about the leanest looking 370 pounder in the history of the world. He was created in a laboratory somewhere. Overweight... sure. But visibly fat/sloppy looking, he's far from it. He'll be a terror in our system in a couple years.

Kendell Jones quote:

quote:

The 6-5, 375-pounder, who initially committed to Alabama over offers from Baylor, Arkansas, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Texas, and others, wasn’t able to finish Tuesday’s practice, but still performed at a high level.

“My weight kind of got the best of me,” said Jones. “My quickness was on point today though, so I’m proud of myself. I’m just mad I couldn’t finish out the day with my boys. I could have done better.”

To be fair, Jones admitted in the quote above that being overweight kept him from finishing out the practices today.

ETA: Edited to your edit.

Well this is interesting:

quote:

Ah, the saga that is recruiting in big-time college football.

Michelle Spires, the mother of Alabama quarterback Jake Coker, says she told Jeremy Pruitt — who chased after Coker as a member of Alabama's staff in 2010 — repeatedly during the recruiting process to stop contacting her son after he had committed to Florida State, which led to an "arse chewing" on one occasion.

CBS Sports columnist Jon Solomon, who penned a feature on the Crimson Tide's senior signal caller in preview of the Cotton Bowl, spoke with Spires about the recruiting process and what it was like being pestered by an assistant coach — who later won a national title alongside Coker with the Seminoles — before National Signing Day in 2011.

“I called Jeremy and said, ‘Quit sneaking in the back door. Do you understand the word ‘commitment’?” Spires said, according to CBS Sports. “Jeremy got a little uppity with me but it didn’t last very long. From a mother’s standpoint, he was wrong. I still think he was wrong. I called him on it. He kept calling me back and I said, ‘What are you a sucker for punishment because I’m not going to cut you any slack? I don’t like what you did.’ Football is such a big business. It’s really not fun. These are kids and sometimes they get distorted by people who really just want a commitment and you never know why.”

The ethical line is often blurred during the recruiting process, but coaches rarely back off from verbally committed prospects and parents aren't always familiar with the way things work.

Spires said she met with Nick Saban several times to voice her displeasure.

“I meant business because it got to be really traumatic,” Spires said, according to CBS Sports. “Jake started wondering, ‘Did I make the right decision? What if, what if, what if?' Jake made the decision to commit to Florida State and was totally comfortable with that. I put in my two bits with Jeremy, and by God, he goes to Florida State (to become defensive coordinator). I'm like, damn. So now he's back at Alabama. It's really kind of funny.”

I don't know if this is a troll or not, but this is on the LSURb and the SECRb, as well as BOL:

Was in Atlanta yesterday for the Elite Junior Game.

Kid that I knew nothing about, he is tucked away in a small SW Ga corner at Cairo HS is Walter Grant.

6-foot-4, 220 pounds physical, with a great motor. Had several tackles for loss and pressures while in the game. I think EASILY a SEC kid and I bet his offers take off in January when the coaches get back on the road. He told me after the game that Alabama was his "dream offer."

Dont be surprised to see him get his offer sooner than later.

Here is Grant and he can hold another 25 lbs EASILY on a training table:

Most in the recruiting industry felt like it was a two-team race between Ole Miss and Alabama for the nation’s No. 2 player before he committed. Like their game in Tuscaloosa earlier this season, the Rebels came out on top for five-star offensive tackle Greg Little.

Little told SB Nation’s Bud Elliott that the reason why Ole Miss beat out Alabama was because of a very personal matter to the five-star.

“I feel like (Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze) can help me with some things that some coaches really can’t help me on,” Little said in the video above. “I’m excited for the future of Ole Miss.”

So what is that thing that Freeze can help him with that Alabama coach Nick Saban cannot?

“He’s a very religious guy. He can help me get in touch with my religion.”

The 6-foot-5, 318-pounder described what he thought the main difference was between Alabama and Ole Miss.

“Alabama is more business, you know, more like hey, here’s the facts, this is what we can do, this is what we have done. Ole Miss is more of a family. We are going to love you to death. We’ll always be there for you. It’s not all about football.”

Ole Miss is currently on pace to finish with its highest-rated recruiting class in school history. The Rebels are fifth in 247Sports’ rankings. The highest they have ever finished was ninth back in 2013, when Ole Miss signed Robert Nkemdiche, Laquon Treadwell and Laremy Tunsil.

Rebels fans should expect Little to compete for the starting left tackle position with Tunsil’s expected early entrance to the NFL draft.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The second day of practice is in the books for Team Highlight at the Under Armour All-America Game.

Alpha Dog

On day two of practice, it was Paramus (N.J.) Catholic five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary who was the most dominant performer of the day.

Gary was outstanding all day long. There wasn’t an offensive linemen who truly slowed him down completely during one-on-ones. Michigan commit Ben Bredeson gave him a little trouble, but all it did was fuel his fire for the rest of practice. Gary was able to get into the backfield with ease and blew up two reverses during 11-on-11 work. His quickness is ridiculous and his strength made him nearly unstoppable when working on the edge or in the interior of the defensive line.

4. OL Chris Owens: The interior offensive line struggled yesterday, but Owens definitely stood out today. The Alabama commit did a great job of beating Benito Jones and was dominant against Marlon Davidson. He looked much more like a mauler today.
