Alabama, Ohio State and others courting unranked JUCO DL Jamar King John Garcia, Jr. JOHN GARCIA, JR. 7:58 AM
"The last couple of weeks have been kind of crazy," he said. "I've been on calls with a few schools like Ohio State, I just recently acquired an offer from Alabama, so it's been from schools all over. "What took me back the most, I would say, is getting an offer from Alabama. It was unexpected, it was something good for me. I talked to the defensive coordinator (Jeremy Pruitt) and the next day it was Nick Saban. He said if everything is in place for me to graduate next semester, I've got an offer. It was a blessing. Something I never had before, so for it to come about was shocking. It was truly a blessing."
"I'm a defensive player, I like to wreck things," he said. "On tape, you'll see me destroying plays, you'll see me everywhere on the field. I play defensive end, but I was all over. I played D-tackle, end and they even had me at stand-up linebacker a little bit, too."
"I've got a couple visits set up in the month of January," King said. "I've got Alabama on the 22nd, on the 15th I've got a visit for UCF, another school that said I had an offer there. I got Ohio State on the 30th, no offer from them. I've talked to Mark Pantoni there.
"Ohio State was a favorite school to me. Growing up in that area it was Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State. I wouldn't mind going to either one of those programs."
A product of Detroit (Mich.) Denby High School, King is willing to play anywhere across America at the next level. "I'm just looking for a school I can go to and make a big impact," he said. "A school that will bring success for me as well, most of all my academic-wise. Not just football, I'm looking for a school academically recognized, too. I'm in the criminal justice field, so I'm looking to continue that."

IMG sure seems like a shady place.

Connor Murphy had a special Christmas this year. Alabama coach Nick Saban personally told outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi to call the elite prospect to make sure he knew the staff wanted him to play for the Crimson Tide next season.
My daughter goes Xavier Prep, the all girls sister school to Brophy. I have seen him play many times, fabulous player, would really love to have him. His brother, Trent Murphy played at Brophy, Stanford, and now the Redskins.
He is a legit 6-5 plus player, great on defense with a nasty disposition, as good as he on defense, I have always seen him as an all-pro future TE, which he also played at Brophy.

watched the seccg with a man that had coached against img. his words, not mine. img is a straight up football factory, without any concerns about academics.

The South Carolina 247 mod put a cb pick in for Riley Ridley to USCe.

From the USCe thread:

quote: New Cavin Ridley update on 247, can anyone summarize?
Cavin Ridley cut Tenn and Ark from his list, it's now b/w SC and Bama. He is an early enrollee. He has already graduated HS (really I should say met his graduation requirements.) He is playing in the All American Game this weekend. He could announce at anytime, but he's not rushing into it. If he wants to EE, he needs to technically announce before the Add/Drop date for either school.
Ridley's older brother was a Fr All American at bama this year, but his brother is telling him to go where it feels right for him, not pressuring him to bama. Tony Morrell put in a CB for the Gamecocks, but bama has the vast majority of the projections.

I'm going to be posting stuff from the USCe thread about Ridley. Some of it may be dated, but I had no idea that they were a serious contender for his signature:

There's legit rumblings down here in S. Florida that Cavin Ridley won't follow his bro to Bama & instead go to the #Gamecocks -Ryan Bartow

If Muschamp at Florida is any indication of how the Carolina offense will be, then who could blame a guy for wanting to be part of that well oiled machine

“I’m probably going to make a decision at my All-American game,” Ridley, who is playing in the Under Armour game, said.
“I’m looking at Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina. This was my first official visit. I’ll talk to the other coaching staffs to get a better feel for how they’re doing things. It may not be as good as an official, but it’ll work.”
“Coach T-Rob is the coolest,” Ridley said. “He understands the kids he recruits. He’s a good guy. He’s a big part of the reason I took a visit here.” “They’re making a lot of changes and I really like the changes that they have,” Ridley said. “Coach Muschamp is a change and all the coaches are a change. I feel like they have the facilities going, they have new things being built.”
“Just to be the main guy in the offense,” Ridley said. “They want to get me the ball, move me around and do what I do best.”
“No team has a lead right now,” Ridley said. “I understand people think I’m going to Alabama because of my brother, but I have to be my own man. I’m not sure where I’m going to go yet.”
“South Carolina helped themselves this week,” Ridley said. “They really stepped up.”

I am no insider, but I do have media source with ASU connections and he thinks he goes to BAMA. He is lean and I could see him at TE. OJ measurables with a mean streak could be nice.

If he was going anywhere but Alabama he wouldn't be asking people to change his name to Riley.Would he?

Oklahoma is pushing Florida State the hardest for four-star OL Jauan Williams. He may officially visit Florida, Oklahoma and Nebraska in January. He's already been to FSU. They've led since.

Apparently Mack Wilson said he wants to leave Alabama in this article VIP
