According to 247's sources if NSD were today they think we'd land Nate Craig and Ahmmon Richards

That stinks about Richards.

Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban will visit five-star athlete and former Alabama commit Demetris Robertson this evening, a source tells BamaOnline. Saban spent the morning in Houston visiting with Tide quarterback commit Jalen Hurts and linebacker target Dontavious Jackson, among others.

Take this with a huge grain of salt, but some dude posted this on BOL regarding Dexter Lawrence:

quote:

There is some word around the water cooler that he made a silent commit to Bama this weekend.

I can't verify his "insider" status.

Don't be surprised if Notre Dame makes a big push this week in its attempts to land five-star wide receiver Demetris Robertson. Kelly is expected to use his in-home visit with the U.S. Army All-American this week. The plan is to get Robertson on campus this weekend for the football awards banquet or in January before he signs his letter-of-intent in February.

It appears Maryland has climbed back into contention with the hiring of new defensive backs coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim. We spoke to Hall shortly before word broke about his addition.

“I’ve heard that coach Aazaar could come to Maryland. I’ve known him since sixth grade. He tried recruiting me to Friendship so I’ve known him for basically as long as I’ve been playing football," Hall said. "Really good hire for Maryland. He’s the guy I talk to at Alabama about my trips, future visits, all that, so I definitely have a good relationship with him. It definitely [isn't] a hire that makes or breaks my recruitment, but it would definitely help Maryland. That’s big.”

Maryland's hiring of assistant coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim could pay immediate dividends for the Terrapins. Abdul-Rahim, who has local ties to some of the area’s top players -- including DeMatha commits D.J. Turner and Lorenzo Harrison -- will be hitting the recruiting trail immediately in an effort to add to Maryland's 2016 class. Which players could be back in play for the Terrapins?

quote:

• St. John’s defensive end Terrell Hall: the four-star recruit is being recruited by almost every SEC school in addition to several other top programs, and has had moved Maryland down his list in the past several months. However, Hall told IMS on Monday morning that he was excited to hear about Abdul-Rahim's hiring. While Hall's recruitment will still be a battle, Abdul-Rahim has a close relationship with him and was recruiting him at Bama. Hall has told other Maryland commits that with the coaching change, he’s “definitely looking at Maryland.” We’ll have more on this before long.

quote:

• Avalon School wide receiver Trevon Diggs: arguably Maryland’s longest-targeted recruit in the 2016 class, the current Alabama commit has a close relationship with Abdul-Rahim due to the Alabama connection. With the former Friendship Collegiate Academy coach now on the Terrapins staff, there could be a chance Diggs gives the Terps a second look. He'll be tough to flip, but if Alabama and Diggs decide to eventually part ways, the Terps could take advantage of the opportunity -- and perhaps Maryland could convince Diggs to make the switch to defensive back.

On this week’s board, Irish247 updates a week that includes recent several top targets, top ten lists, and new names to watch. Where does Notre Dame sit with some of the top talent on this board?

1. Demetris Robertson: 6-1/165, Athlete, Savannah (GA) Christian Prep

-Robertson continues to look into a second trip to South Bend. He expects to return for the banquet in December, but nothing has been set at this time. As Loy and Wiltfong have said for months, if Robertson returns, Notre Dame is a real threat to land him. If not, expect him to end up at Alabama, Stanford or Georgia.

"Insider" from BOL on Kiffin:

quote:

He has asked Saban to keep him one more year. No decision has been made. Completely goes against everything I have been told and heard up to this point. The fact he wasn't told no immediately means there is a chance he comes back I guess. But that last statement is just conjecture on my part.

At 6-foot-7 and 323 pounds, Raekwon Davis is as big of a prospect as you will find. And he’s also one of the quietest.

On Monday, though, the four-star defensive tackle shed some light on his concealed recruitment as players from both Alabama and Mississippi converged on Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, Miss., for the annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.

“I’m still committed but I’m still open to other schools,” Davis told a group of reporters. “I’m still looking around.”

Davis, who has been committed to Alabama for more than a calendar year, confirmed he will take an official visit to Mississippi State on Jan. 15.

The Meridian native said members of the Bulldogs staff visited him at his school and he felt the program was deserving of an official visit.

But Davis didn’t seem all that sold on Mississippi State when asked to characterize his relationship with the program.

“It’s an OK school,” Davis said of the Bulldogs. “I can’t really explain what it’s like. I’m still looking at them and I’m still interested in the school. I’m still open, like I said. But I’m still committed to Alabama.”

Davis maintained several SEC programs are still interested in his services, though he didn’t name specifics. However, he conceded he will take his decision all the way to National Signing Day. He added that he knows where he wants to go, but suggested he cannot reveal it.

“I know where I want to go, I just don’t want to say it just yet,” Davis said.

He is rated as the No. 6 player in Mississippi.

Three Mississippians were listed on the Rivals100 rankings released on Monday morning.

Oxford wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is the highest rated Mississippi prospect at No. 24. The Ole Miss commit was listed at the same spot the last time the top-100 rankings for the class of 2016 were updated in August.

Germantown cornerback Nigel Knott and Noxubee County defensive end Jeffery Simmons also made the list in August and showed up again in December. Knott, who is considering Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama and Oregon, among others, dropped one spot to No. 26. Simmons, who is No. 1 in The Clarion-Ledger's Targeted 22, moved from No. 56 to 62. The four-star defensive end led the Tigers to their second consecutive state championship on Saturday with 3.5 sacks for a loss of 38 yards, four quarterback hurries and four tackles.

Outside of the three Mississippi products, Ole Miss quarterback commit Shea Patterson remained in the top 5 at No. 3 after debuting in August at No. 1. Five-star defensive tackles Rashan Gary and Dexter Lawrence are listed at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

Clay-Chalkville coach Jerry Hood stopped Spanish Fort quarterback Tyler Johnston, shook his hand and congratulated him in the hallway outside the interview room Friday night after the Toros' 31-28 victory in the Class 6A championship game.

“We’ll see you next week,” Hood said.

Foes become friends this week at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic, as Hood serves on the coaching staff for a squad that features Johnston and Clay-Chalkville quarterback Ty Pigrome at quarterback.

Alabama has won the last seven games in the annual all-star game involving the state’s best senior players. This week – for the first time – the game moves to the Magnolia State and will be played in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Players report today, followed by three days of three days of 2-a-day practices, a week of activities and Saturday’s game at M.M. Roberts Stadium on the Southern Miss campus. Kickoff is set for noon. Tickets will be available at the gate.

Saturday’s game will be televised by Raycom, with affiliates in Birmingham (Fox-6), Montgomery (WSFA-12), Huntsville (WAFF-48) and Mobile (UTV-44). Check local listings or contact local stations to find out if the game will be on the regular channel or its “bounce” station.

Mississippi’s best chance to stop Alabama’s seven-game win streak starts on the defensive line, which boasts 6-foot-7, 325-pound Alabama commit Raekwon Davis of Meridian and 6-foot-4, 275-pound Jeffery Simmons from Noxubee County. Six of Mississippi’s defensive lineman weigh at least 275 pounds.

Alabama's defense should be strong, with the state's three top prospects on that side of the ball -- uncommitted Gordo linebacker Ben Davis, uncommitted Carver-Montgomery linebacker Lyndell Wilson and Greenville star and Auburn commitment Marlon Davidson on the defensive line.

Alabama's head coach is Thompson first-year coach Mark Freeman. The rest of the coaching staff is: Brent Hubbert, Maplesville; Jerry Hood, Clay-Chalkville; Paul Benefield, Fyffe; Eric Cohu, Madison Academy; J.B. Wallace, Florence; Chris Yeager, Mountain Brook; and Steve Mask, St. Paul's.

Hubbert and Mask led their teams to state titles last week in Tuscaloosa.

Auburn rolled out the red carpet for its top defensive commitment in the 2015 recruiting class this weekend.

Five-star defensive end Marlon Davidson was on the Plains for his official visit while defensive coordinator reportedly agreed to be South Carolina's next head coach.

Davidson (6-4, 260) is ranked as the nation's third-best defensive end and No 19 overall player in the 247Sports Composite. He has grown close to Auburn's coaching staff, most notably Rodney Garner and Muschamp.

"I'm looking at all the coaches, the head coach and everybody," Davidson told 247Sports earlier this week. "I'm not going to school for just a coach, I'm going to school because I want to play (there)."

For several weeks, Davidson has said he is "75 percent" committed to the Tigers and still maintains interest in Alabama and Georgia. During his visit to Auburn, he put his arcade basketball skills to the test by going one-on-one with Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn. This isn't the first time we've seen Malzahn show an interest in arcade games — he's also a Galaga fan.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Registration day at the 2015 Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game brought its usual parade of high-level college prospects. Along with the players came a number of recruiting storylines. Below is the latest on give uncommitted prospects from Team Alabama along with notes on a pair of committed players still checking out other options.

LB Ben Davis
Gordo, Ala.

The five-star linebacker declared Georgia his leader on Monday, mainly because of his relationship with new Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart. However, he also said he and Smart have yet to talk since he accepted the job and that Alabama remains a very close second. While it appears to be setting up to be a two-team race, Davis said he's set to take an official visit to Notre Dame on Jan. 15.
