It’s tough to beat Alabama head coach Nick Saban on the recruiting trail when he zeroes in on a prospect he covets.
When that prospect happens to be an in-state kid, that task becomes a monumental challenge.
Last week, the Tide offered 3-star running back and current Florida commit Lamical Perine.

The Theodore (Alabama) High School product has been committed to the Gators since May, but the offer from the Tide is one that carries significance for the in-state standout.
According to Hank South of BamaOnline, Perine’s stepfather, Jimmie Haywood, noted that Perine was fond of the Tide program as a kid.
“It’s an honor. (Lamical) was very excited,” Haywood told South of the Tide offer. “It’s always an honor to interact with Alabama. It was one of his dream schools growing up as a kid. I think Alabama and Florida were pretty much tied as his dream schools growing up.”
However, Perine hasn’t given any indication that his pledge to the Gators is on shaky ground.
Still running with the same squad I came with #chompchomp??

Instead, he seems to be pretty firm in his commitment.
Still, as signing day approaches, it will be interesting to see if Saban and his staff make a big push for Perine. The lure of the Tide program could be tough to turn down in the end.

Starkville, Mississippi, 4-star wide receiver A.J. Brown understands the process and doesn't have a true desire to rush anything on his end. At least not now.
Like many other athletes around the country at this time, Brown's top priority is leading his team in postseason battle. Starkville High School is competing for a Mississippi state championship, and that takes precedence over all, athletically, in Brown's eyes.
"[Recruiting] is in the back seat for now," said Brown, the nation's No. 8 receiver and No. 74 player overall. "My focus is on winning a state championship. As far as recruiting goes, I'm going to start narrowing things down and take all five official visits after the season."
With his team the main priority, Brown admitted that recruiting isn't something he doesn't think about every day. Three schools that are considered contenders are Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Alabama. Brown has good relationships with wide receivers coaches Billy Gonzales (Mississippi State), Grant Heard (Ole Miss) and Billy Napier (Alabama).
Although Brown is picked by some to stay in-state and play for Mississippi State, Alabama is a definite school to watch, particularly after its solid play against LSU on Saturday.
"I can see myself there. It's a winning program, regardless of what it goes through," Brown said. "I like how they work hard like no other. I've built a great relationship with [Napier] and talk to him all the time."
Brown said he will make his decision on national signing day in February. He added that he's looking for one particular thing in a winning school.
"One that throws the ball," he said. "It's that simple."

FSU commit Robinson takes in Alabama
Panama City, Florida, defensive end Janarius Robinson has been committed to Florida State since September 2014. It's also been known that Robinson still would take visits to other schools.
Robinson was in Tuscaloosa over the weekend taking in Alabama's win against LSU. He was joined by the nation's top-ranked tight end, 5-star Isaac Nauta, the nation's top-ranked running back Kareem Walker—a recent Ohio State decommit—and Florida cornerback commit Chauncey Gardner, among others.

Robinson has been honest about his process for months now. He reiterated in September that he'd make visits, and Alabama was one of the schools he was interested in.
Now the question is: Can the Seminoles keep the nation's No. 4 weak-side defensive end and No. 63 player overall committed?
"I will take all my visits to make sure I'm doing everything right," Robinson said in September. "I don't want to leave any tables unturned."

However, the trip to Tuscaloosa has given him something to think about with regards to his leaderboard.
“[Alabama] has always been in it. As soon as they offered me, they were high on my list,” Hardman said. “After this game, they have definitely moved up in my mind. They have a great program on and off the field. We’ll just have to see how it goes from here.”
quote:
“It was nice. It was my first time in Bryant-Denny Stadium,” Hardman told Bleacher Report. “I had a great time seeing Alabama play, especially against a top-notch team like LSU. [Alabama] handled their business and the atmosphere was amazing. I had a really good time.”
quote:
“I talked to Coach Saban when I got there. I had a long talk with him,” Hardman explained. “I talked with Coach [Billy] Napier and Coach [Kirby] Smart also. I met Coach [Lane] Kiffin also. I just got to speak with a lot of the assistant coaches. When we got there, it was all love from the coaches.”
quote:
“They offered me as a wide receiver, but I don’t know how that’s going to go,” Hardman said. “A lot of schools are recruiting me as an athlete. I don’t know if [Alabama] will change how they recruit me now. I know Coach Smart wants me on the defensive side of the ball and Coach Napier wants me on offense. That could go either way to be honest.”

Nigel Knott will not announce until at least the UA AA Game.

Thrilled with the Robinson commitment, not just because he's big-time talent, but because both of the other RB commitments are vulnerable.
From someone I trust, UCLA is a HUGE threat for Najee Harris. Tosh will have his hands full holding on to him.
Of course, Akers is from MS, and MSU thinks that he will flip sooner rather than later.

Five-star OT Greg Little to announce decision on Friday RT @Thegreglittle: Speechless #RollTide

Little just posted some pro Bama stuff on Twitter with a pic of Henry.

Not keeping my hopes up on Little. Still think he is Ole Miss bound in the long run!
Posted on 11/10/15 at 11:31 am to Crimsongreatness15
I feel better now about Little than I did two weeks ago, but I have no inside information to feel that way. Just a hunch.
Posted on 11/10/15 at 11:36 am to TideSaint
Well, Tennessee gave Ole Miss a little dose of their own medicine with Drew Richmond last year, so I guess it's possible. We would sure be set on the OL if we could pull it off.
Posted on 11/10/15 at 11:48 am to Bama3714
My biggest thing is, if/when Cristobal leaves, does that change anything in the likelihood of Little committing to Bama?
Little dropped A&M because he had zero relationship with their new OL coach, so I don't believe it won't have any impact. Already talk about Charles Baldwin wavering if Cristobal heads down south.

That stuff is always a consideration for every elite program that has top-notch assistants every year. I'm sure we'll be fine. Privately, Cristobal has told friends that he wouldn't take the Miami job under the current administration. But when big $$$ is being waved in your face, that tends to change a lot of minds.

Depends on what he considers "big money". Miami doesn't exactly have much of it.

Five-star Lawrence sets decision date
quote:
Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence (Wake Forest, N.C./Rolesville) will announce his college choice December 14 at 3:30 p.m. at his high school, per CarolinaBlue.com insider Ross Martin.
The Crystal Ball reads 50-percent for Florida, 23-percent for Florida State, nine-percent for North Carolina, nine-percent for N.C. State and nine-percent for Alabama.
Lawrence, an early enrollee, has officially visited Florida and Clemson.
He said he will officially visit Ohio State November 21.
He hopes to take an official visit to Alabama prior to making his college choice as well. No date has been set for that visit yet.
The five-star recruit is ranked as the nation's No. 2 defensive tackle and the No. 1 prospect in North Carolina in the 2016 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

Per Ross Martin, his Alabama official visit (not yet set up) could be December 5.
He announces December 14.
His team could be in the state title game (again) December 12.
He's set to arrive at the Shrine Bowl that weekend but return to his hometown for his announcement.
-247 Analyst Ryan Bartow
Also worth noting that December 5th is the date of the SEC Championship Game so he most likely will have to schedule a midweek visit.
