Not concerned here. I like him but seemed to be in on some other recruits I think would fit this class better.

Other DE prospects high on the board:
Jeffery Simmons
Terrell Hall
Marlon Davidson (Auburn commit)
Janarius Robinson (FSU commit)
Who are we thinking we will get?
Simmons will be tough to pull out of Mississippi.
Honesty, no clue where we stand with Terrell Hall.
Marlon Davidson, unless AU makes a coaching change, seems unlikely with his brother at AU.
Janarius Robinson, seems like I read someone posted he was likely to stay with his commit to FSU.
Am I wrong on any of these?

We lead for Hall. He's said it publicly numerous times.
If Kentucky beats Auburn tomorrow night that seat under Malzahn's arse is gonna be red hot.
Simmons? No idea.
Robinson will probably flip to us soon.

Landing 2 out of those 4 would be fantastic to go along with Quinnen Williams, Raekwon Davis, Kendell Jones and hopefully Dexter Lawrence. I think in the end we'll get Marlon Davidson and Terrell Hall. Janarius to UF and Simmons to OM/MSU. Then finish the DL class with 1 of Dexter/Rashard or Michail Carter.

Yes. That's what I was implying.

Malzahn isn't going anywhere this year. Garner's seat has been red hot all season and it isn't getting any cooler. That could be your in with Marlon

BOL put up a story last night after Kareem decommitted about a kid from Georgia named Josh White. He played QB up until this season but moved to Defensive End for his Senior year. He attended the Arkansas game this past weekend as well.
Here's what he had to say about it:
Josh White Highlights
He doesn't have an offer yet, but he thinks one may be coming soon. He has 8.5 sacks on the season already.
Here's what he had to say about it:
quote:
“It was great,” White said. “It was good seeing all the coaches again, it was good seeing Coach (Tosh) Lupoi, as he’s my position coach now. I talked to Coach (Bobby) Williams who’s my area recruiter. So I was pretty much building relationships, catching up with Coach Kirby Smart and everything. I actually got to see the position they want me at, which is the “Jack” linebacker, sometimes he has his hand in the dirt rushing the passer, sometimes they want him to drop. He’s the most productive player on the defense, Coach Lupoi told me.
“I was really excited about that, I actually got to see what I may be doing in college. I was just trying to see myself in that situation. The guy they have, Tim Williams, he’s 6-4, 230, I’m 6-5, 230, so I have the size for it, it’s just all about hard work and getting used to the defense and everything like that.”

Tim Watts said this about Khalid Kareem:
He also said it appears Michigan will not be pushing for him. Most likely ND bound. Good luck to the kid.

Yeah. This was handled well. UA staff spoke to him on his last visit and expected this.

Some dude posted his class projection on BOL. He's not an "insider" but I always like seeing who other people think we end up with:
ETA: He obviously posted this before Kareem decommitted.
quote:
4* QB Jalen Hurts
4* RB BJ Emmons
4* RB Devin White or Mark Thompson (JUCO)
4* WR Cavin Ridley
4* WR Mykel Jones
4* WR Keith Gavin
3* WR TJ Simmons
3* TE Miller Fortistall
3* TE Brendan Scales
5* OT Greg Little
4* OT Jonah Williams
4* OT Charles Baldwin (JUCO)
4* OG Deonte Brown
4* OG Chris Owens
5* DL Dexter Lawrence
4* DL Jeffrey Simmons
4* DL Khalid Kareem
4* DL Kendall Jones
4* DL Raekwon Davis
3* DL Quinnen Williams
5* LB Ben Davis
5* LB Lyndell Wilson
4* LB Jaquan Yulee
3* LB Riley Cole
4* DB Nigel Knott
4* DB Nigel Warrior
4* DB Shyheim Carter
3* DB Shawn Jennings
3* K Eddy Pinerio
- That's 29 players
- I think Josh Perry ends up somewhere else, along with one more. The final number should be 28.
- Here's the final point total for the above class: 318 points. So where does said point total rank amongst previous classes? Like this:
1. 2014 (319.58)
2. 2013 (319.48)
3. 2016 (318.00)
4. 2015 (311.08)
5. 2012 (310.07)
6. 2011 (298.49)
ETA: He obviously posted this before Kareem decommitted.

I really don't understand why Emmons isn't a 5*. The kid is unreal.

There is a big misconception, at least according to TideWarrior, that his grades are a mess. TW says he may even enroll early.
I don't know if he is participating in any of the AA games, but if he does he will move up.
ETA: He is scheduled to play in the Under Armour game.

Mack Wilson on why Florida "leads" for his services:
quote:
“What has Florida on top right now is when I took my visit, it was a great visit overall,” Wilson told 247Sports. “I felt the coaches’ vibe, and I liked how the coaches and players were bonded together.
“I did a background check on them, and they have what I want to major in also. You know, I just like the fight every Saturday that the guys put up. They never give up and you know, it just felt like home to me when I visited.”
quote:
“I would have to sit down and talk to my guy, Jeawon Taylor - Florida commit, about it,” Wilson said of a Florida official visit. “We’re going to talk it over.”
“That’s like a dream come true. He’s my best friend, we grew up together, we played ball together when we were younger. It’s just something that if it really happened, I dreamed about all my life.
“He plays a big role in my recruitment with Florida because we stay in touch every day, we talk about Florida every day, every night. I would love to go to college and play ball with him. It’s going to be a great experience just to play with him in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game.”
quote:
“I want to leave the state because all the guys the past couple years went to Alabama or Auburn, the in-state schools. I’m going to go with what school best fits me though. Alabama plays a big role because they’ve been recruiting me since I was in the ninth grade, and I’ve built a relationship with a majority of the coaches there. It’s like a second home to me, and Coach [Nick] Saban is like a father figure to me. Coach [Kirby] Smart, I can talk to those guys about anything.”

I'm guessing Mack Wilson is campaigning hard for his buddy to get an offer. Might not be the worst idea since Josh Perry will likely head elsewhere.

Class of 2018 QB Allan Walters on Alabama:
quote:
"My dad went to Alabama and played baseball there," Walters said. "He was in the office with me when I got the offer. It did not set in right away, but it did after I called my mom. She was really excited and started crying. It was really a special moment for my entire family.
"I really love the Crimson Tide. I love the campus and I love the coaches there. I just love everything about Alabama."

White is a guy who should in all honesty take a greyshirt from Bama if one comes his way. He's got good size and agility, but he's just playing on athleticism alone out there. He needs more strength to survive at the position, and better hand and tackling technique.
He kinda pulled a C.J. Uzomah, was a hyped up QB prospect very early in his career, then senior year comes and he's gonna play another position.
And speaking of greyshirts, are people remembering to include Christian Bell in their class predictions?
